Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

vol. 5 chapter 16 - Leon vs. Odin? A 70-30 Matchup!

Two days later, the square in front of the Twilight Tower was bustling with activity. The air buzzed with excitement and chatter.

“In just a little while, the Silver Dragon Prince and the Thunder Dragon King will officially face off. I can’t wait!”
“Yeah, these two clans have legendary reputations. Everyone is watching to see which one will come out on top.”
“I think Odin is stronger, though. He’s been famous across the planes for centuries, while the Silver Dragon Prince has only risen to prominence in recent years.”

“That’s not necessarily true. Leon is an up-and-comer, and you can’t judge strength based on how long someone has been renowned.”
“You’ve got a point.”
“Hey, it’s already eight. Why hasn’t it started yet?”

“Relax, relax—look! The Tower Master is stepping out!”
“The Tower Master!”
The crowd erupted in cheers as the Tower Master made her appearance.

From a distance, Noa could see the elegant elderly woman standing at the center of the square. Amid the applause, she offered a graceful bow before speaking.
“Thank you all for coming to witness this pinnacle of high-magic dueling.”
“It has been some time since I announced this event, and I know many of you have been eagerly anticipating it…”

“Well, I won’t delay further. The stage—behold!”
With a wave of her hand, the Tower Master summoned her magic.
The ground trembled slightly as massive recording stones emerged, positioning themselves to provide every corner of the square with a clear view.

On the stones, a spacious arena was displayed. The center was dotted with numerous raised platforms, perfectly sized for combat. The walls and surfaces were smooth, as though carved with a blade.
Atop the two highest platforms stood the duel’s main contenders.
On the left platform stood Leon Cosmod, clad in gleaming silver armor, a long spear in hand.

On the right platform stood Odin, a wiry figure in a white robe, his presence commanding despite his slender frame.
Above them, an hourglass hung suspended, with the last few grains of sand trickling down.
This indicated that the duel was about to begin.
“As you can see, the two have entered the independent space I created for this battle,” the Tower Master explained.

“This duel, awaited by so many, is about to commence.”
“Please watch closely. Don’t miss a single moment.”
With that, the Tower Master gestured grandly, then vanished from the square.

She reappeared moments later at the top of the Twilight Tower, where a large recording stone displayed the same arena.
Joining her in the viewing area were other dragon kings who had arrived over the past few days, along with faculty and students from Saint Sis Academy.
Noa recognized Odin’s name immediately. His feats were legendary, taught repeatedly in the academy’s courses on dragon magic.

Odin’s mastery of lightning magic was unparalleled, shaping the very foundation of its practice among dragons.
Though she trusted her father’s strength, Noa couldn’t help but feel a pang of nervousness. This was going to be a hard-fought battle, one for the ages.
Nearby, Rosvisser and Isha sat together, their conversation reaching Noa’s ears.

“Rosvisser, what do you think my dear brother-in-law’s chances are?”
“I… I’m not ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) sure.”
“Seven to three,” Isha said playfully.

Rosvisser, too tense to catch the teasing tone, took her sister’s words at face value. “Only thirty percent? Isn’t that too low?”
Isha chuckled and nudged her sister lightly.
“I meant seven out of ten times, Leon knocks Odin down three times. A 70-30 split.”

Rosvisser finally caught the joke and smiled. “I hope you’re right, sister.”
Meanwhile, little Muse waved her tiny hands from Rosvisser’s lap, trying to use the phrase she’d just learned.
“Dad… Dad… Will… win!”

Noa raised an eyebrow and pinched her younger sister’s chubby cheek. “You sure know how to pick your moments, little sis. I think Dad will win too.”
Across the room, Hefei glanced at Noa and Muse before turning to her father.
Konstantin’s usually stoic expression held a rare tension, his gaze fixed intently on the recording stone.

For a moment, Hefei hesitated, then reached out her small hand to hold his.
“Hefei,” Konstantin said softly.
“Father?”

“This battle might be the only one of its kind we’ll see in our lifetimes. Watch carefully. Don’t miss anything.”
“Yes, Father.”
Tick. Tock.

The room fell silent, save for the sound of the clock on the wall.
In the arena, Leon and Odin faced each other.
Though the air was still, the atmosphere was heavy with tension.

They both knew this wasn’t a fight to be taken lightly.
“Leon,” Odin said suddenly, his voice calm yet firm.
Leon met Odin’s unwavering gaze, his tone just as steady. “What is it?”

“There’s something I’ve always wondered. Why have I never heard of you before you became the Silver Dragon Prince? With magic as powerful as yours, I should have known your name long ago.”
Leon’s smile didn’t falter. “Perhaps I never had the chance to stand out before.”
Odin didn’t press further. Slowly, he took his stance, faint arcs of lightning beginning to dance around his frame.

“Let’s give it everything we’ve got,” he said.
Leon nodded, stepping back to steady himself. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
As the final grain of sand fell in the hourglass, both combatants vanished simultaneously.

They reappeared a split second later, directly above the hourglass. Odin’s knee shot upward in a powerful strike while Leon raised his elbow to block. The clash of their first blow released a burst of lightning, shattering the hourglass beneath them.
The sheer force of the exchange drove Leon back slightly, and he realized just how formidable his opponent was.
Though Odin’s appearance suggested he was older than even Leon’s master, his speed, strength, and reflexes were anything but diminished.

Leon felt a mix of pressure and exhilaration.
A smile crept onto his face. A challenge like this was exactly what he had been waiting for.
