Chapter 930: 927: Hidden Dangers
"Stop absorbing the mana. It's poison." Corey warned.
"Huh?" Jeremy was confused, and so were the others.
Elizabeth stopped playing with the greenish silver motes of light and looked at Corey with a frown.
"What are you talking about? How could the mana be- Cough!"
Just as she was about to call out Corey for his absurd words, she suddenly coughed out a mouthful of blood.
Her eyes widened, and her pupils trembled as she looked at her blood stained hands. Her eyes widened the more when she saw the color of the blood.
'Silver?'
More silver blood poured out from her mouth and nose, and her she could feel her body changing in ways she could not describe.
'What's happening to me?'
She looked up, and her eyes instinctively landed on Jeremy. She was hoping to gain some assurance and comfort from the man she loved, but when she saw that his condition was like hers, albeit a little bit better, she felt her stomach drop into a pit.
"He-Help. I don't want to die."
She took a step forward, and a hand suddenly grabbed her arm.
"Don't panic. You won't die."
A deep voice drifted into her ears, and when she turned, she saw Corey looking at her with a slight frown.
He went to her back, and she slowly lowered her arms. A second later, she felt Corey tap several parts of her back, and a gasp escaped her lips.
She could feel her mana flowing in a strange pattern, and she was startled. Before she could comprehend what was happening, she felt something rise up her throat, and her expression changed.
She clenched her teeth, trying to hold it in, but Corey instantly berated her.
"Are you okay? Why are you holding it in? Do you want to die?"
Almost like his words were a source of relief, she instantly vomited like her life depended on it.
A mixture of silver and brown liquid poured out from her lips in copious amount, staining the greenery around them.
Corey patted her back, and then he walked away. "Don't hold back anything. Release everything from your system."
Sweat dripped from Elizabeth's forehead as she attempted to nod, but it ended in failure.
Corey did not even bother to wait for her response after he spoke, he moved to Jeremy who was on his knees, coughing out a copious amount of silver blood.
Silver veins appeared on his neck, and Corey knew that the King of the Kingdom of Miracles was trying to battle the poison with his mana.
It was a bold decision, and one that could work, but could also lead him to his death.
'Can't believe the Universal System gave us such a reckless hero... Well... Some might call him brave.'
Corey shook his head, and then he knelt behind Jeremy.
"Wait. Don't-"
Jeremy attempted to speak, but Corey did not care. He used his acupuncture techniques on Jeremy, and Jeremy instantly felt his mana circulation, and every other circulation in his body become something he was not familiar with at all.
The same thing that happened to Elizabeth happened to him, and he felt something rise up to his throat.
An unwilling and stubborn expression appeared on Jeremy's face, but Corey slapped his back hard the moment he noticed the expression.
Cough!
Jeremy vomited a mouthful of silver, brown, and yellow liquid on the ground, and Corey raised a brow slightly when he saw the yellow liquid.
'How lucky. Some of the impurities in his body were removed.'
Corey stood, and without waiting for Jeremy to say anything, he walked away.
He approached Kiefer, Selene, and Willow, and he looked at them with a slight narrow of his eyes.
"Are you guys okay?"
He asked while holding each of their arms. They nodded, and Corey observed them through his Eyes of Omniscience, and used Poison Manipulation to completely all traces of the poison that was in their system while also giving their bodies some resistance against the poison.
Unlike Elizabeth and Jeremy, he didn't use his acupuncture technique on any of his servants. Instead, he used Poison Manipulation to remove the poison from their bodies, and this was more effective and less painful.
To Kiefer, Selene, and Willow, they were just feeling Corey's energy going through their bodies, and in their minds, Corey was just checking to see if they were okay.
Although it was invasive, they were all his servants so they didn't think too much of it.
Meanwhile, Corey's mind was somewhere else.
'It would be a hassle if they find out that I fight using poison. I feel like some of them might be prejudiced against poison users, and it would be too annoying to deal with.'
'Also...'
He glanced at Kiefer, and when he saw the boy's curious and pondering eyes, Corey narrowed his eyes slightly and glanced at Pamela who was looking at a particular tree in the distance.
'... She knew.'
'She knew that Kiefer's talent would be the best in such an environment. He would be able to find the most precious herbs in this place... But how did she know when she had not even step foot on this place?'
'She's just like me... Enigmatic.'
Corey shook his head slightly, and then he stopped holding Kiefer.
'At least, it's a good thing they didn't rush like the others and absorbed the mana from the environment... They were probably waiting for me or Pamela to say they can absorb it, or maybe it's for another reason.'
Corey looked around, and Jeremy began approaching him.
"I didn't know you knew about acupuncture techniques. You're a good swordsman and a... what? Healer too?" Jeremy tilted his head in confusion.
"I studied medicine before the apocalypse. So I guess you can call me a doctor."
Corey shrugged nonchalantly despite memories of his dreadful college days and his family flooding his mind.
He looked to his right and sighed softly.
"Wow. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Doctors are smart, so I guess you being talented is because you're smart?"
Corey blinked, and looked at him. "That makes no sense."
Jeremy was about to speak, but Corey suddenly snapped his head in the direction of Kiefer, Selene, and Willow with a cold expression.
He waved his hand, and a sharp light suddenly appeared behind them.
HISS!
The tall grass around them was split in two, and so was a massive snake-like beast that bled silver blood.
"We have company." Corey said while bringing out his dual battle axes, and in the next moment, the tall grass surrounding them swayed violently and the hiss of dozens of snakes resounded in their ears.
