Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 932: 929: Separate Ways

Corey waited and watched with folded arms for the reaction of Jeremy, his friends, and Pamela.

A rather tense silence engulfed the grassy plains, and Pamela chuckled while shaking her head.

"Why are you guys so tense. It's not a serious matter to be honest." Pamela smiled, but the expressions of Jeremy, Caesar, Matias, Rorik, and Elizabeth remained the same.

It was one of wariness.

And when Pamela saw this, she scoffed and shrugged. "Since I don't want our relationship to change drastically because of this, I'll leave and explore on my own. You guys will literally drag me down after all, so no point in trying to tie myself down with you guys."

The expressions of Rorik and Elizabeth changed, and a glint of anger flashed in their eyes.

Out of everybody in the Hero Party, they were the ones that harbored resentment and grudges toward Pamela.

If not for how terrifying Pamela was, and how she had taught both of them a lesson they would never forget in their lives, they would tried to gang up on her and beat her up.

But if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

"Can we trust you to still remain our ally when we meet in the future." Jeremy took a step forward, and asked with a solemn expression.

"Of course. As long as you guys don't do anything to antagonize me, then we're cool. I won't harm or betray any of you. You have my word." Pamela smiled, and Jeremy nodded with a more relaxed expression.

Pamela turned, and looked at Corey.

"What about you? Are you staying with them? Or are you going on your own?"

Jeremy, Caesar, Elizabeth, Rorik, and Matias looked at Corey the moment Pamela asked this question.

They already knew at the back of their minds that Corey could decide to leave them, but since he showed no signs of doing so and did not seem be detrimenal to their team, they didn't bother asking him if he wanted to stay or part ways with them.

Seconds passed, and Jeremy clenched his fist when a premonition that what he didn't want would most likely occur.

Sigh

Corey sighed while shaking his head, and then he looked at Pamela with a light smile.

"You really do know how to stir up trouble."

Pamela shrugged. "It's fun. You should try it some times."

"Women." Corey scoffed, and then he looked at Jeremy.

"I'll be moving on my own."

That was all he said, and unlike Pamela who gave a reason, he did not bother to do so.

Jeremy clenched his fists tighter, and an unwilling light could be seen in his eyes.

"Why?"

Corey tilted his head slightly with a baffled expression. "Uhmm... Because I can?"

Jeremy clenched his fists tighter. "But I wanted you to keep on training while we're still here. This here is the perfect training ground. I can train a lot more and push my body to levels I couldn't in the past."

"..." Everybody.

"..." Corey.

"And that is definitely one, if not the main reason why I'm leaving." Corey's lips twitched, and he turned and began walking.

Selene, Kiefer, and Willow followed him.

"Wait. Don't-" Jeremy tried to approach Corey, but Caesar stopped him by putting his arm in the way.

"Why are you stopping me, Caesar? Unlike Pamela, Corey can help all of us. He has a good heart."

Corey paused when he heard that, and he involuntarily raised his brows when he heard his words.

"Stop it, Jeremy Draker. You're embarrassing us."

"What?" Jeremy was taken aback by Caesar's words, but most especially, his cold expression which he only saw when he was extremely angry.

He took a step back.

"Look." Caesar gestured at Elizabeth, Rorik, and Matias. "Look at their faces, and tell me if you've seen those expressions on their faces ever since you became close friends?"

"Huh? What?" Jeremy turned, and looked at each of his allies.

No

Friends.

And the expressions on their faces caused his heart to squeeze.

"Why- Why do you guys seem- look disappointed and sad? What is the problem?" He asked with shaky pupils, and Caesar took a step closer to him with the same cold expression.

"You're the problem, Jeremy. When did you become so weak willed and desperate that you start losing faith in your friends, and start depending on people you just met? On outsiders?"

"I-I- I didn't mean it that way." Jeremy stuttered with a shaken expression, and Caesar inhaled deeply.

"I know. I know you didn't mean it and neither did you notice what you were doing. But that's my job as your advisor." Caesar patted Jeremy's shoulder. "You're the Hero, Jeremy. Our Hero. Sure, they're strong, but with time, you'll catch up to them and be a lot stronger. That's why you're the Hero... A Hero always wins... no matter what."

Jeremy looked at Caesar, and when he saw his friend's smile, he released a soft sigh.

"Thank you. What would I have done without you?"

Caesar smiled. "Absolutely nothing."

Jeremy chuckled softly, and then he faced Elizabeth, Matias, and Rorik.

Without any hesitation, he got on his knees and placed his forehead on the ground.

"Jeremy?" Elizabeth took a step forward in shock and disbelief, and she attempted to pick Jeremy up. However, Matias held her arm, and she saw Caesar shaking his head.

"I'm so sorry guys. I completely forgot a lot of the impossible battles we've fought together, and the accomplishments we made and created together all these years. I was blinded by people who possessed a lot of talent, and my desire to grow stronger blinded me to what I already had. Fortunately for me, I noticed before it was too late. Please forgive me."

Elizabeth, Matias, and Rorik looked at one another. Rorik shrugged with a nonchalant expression. Matias gestured at the bowing Jeremy while looking at Elizabeth, and Elizabeth released a soft sigh.

She slowly approached Jeremy, and then she knelt before him and lifted him.

"You're a king, Jeremy Draker. Kings should not bow." She smiled, but Jeremy shook his head.

"I did something unforgivable. I should-"

"Shhhh." Elizabeth placed her finger on Jeremy's lips, effectively preventing him from saying anything else.

"It's fine. We've forgiven you." She said.

"Really?" Jeremy's eyes brightened, and she nodded along with Matias, Rorik, and Caesar.

"Phew. That's a relief. Thank you."

Elizabeth shook her head, and she pulled Jeremy up.

Jeremy looked around, but when he saw no sign of neither Corey or Pamela, he blinked in confusion.

"Where is Ryan and Pamela?"

"They left a long time ago." Rorik licked a stone in annoyance, and Jeremy was stunned for a moment before shaking his head.

"No matter. Let's go. We have a lot of places to explore before the remaining members of the Kingdom arrive. We need to find the perfect place to set up base."

They all nodded, and Jeremy glanced at the spot Corey had been before he left.

'I'll be a lot stronger the next time you see me.'
