Chapter 933: 930: Following & Shameless
As cute and entertaining it would have been to watch the interaction between Jeremy, Caesar, and the rest of the Hero Party, Corey decided that there was no point in standing and waiting for Jeremy and the rest to settle their little quarrel.
He left without saying anything, but not without taking the serpent he killed. Kiefer, Selene, and Willow followed without hesitation.
They all walked in the tall grassy plains that had grasses that were far taller than Corey and any normal sized human.
If not for his Eyes of Omniscience which allowed him to see hidden dangers and beasts that were camouflaged with the same color as the grass.
Moving through this grassy plains might have been more annoying to Corey if he did not have his telekinesis since that was what he was using to move the grass and also make a clearing around all of them.
'There a lot of serpentine beasts here. I can see a breeding ground some kilometers to the west, and some are ever slithering around while killing some animals that seem less dangerous.'
'All of them are in the Mystic Realm, and there is none in the Astral Realm. I've not seen anything stronger than Tier 6, but I can sense a Tier 6 aura in the west that seems extremely close to advancing to Tier 7. Maybe that's the leader of all these snakes?'
Corey furrowed his brows slightly as he looked at his left while taking a slight turn to his right to avoid a pack of Tier 4 and Tier 5 serpentines.
'And these beasts are also a lot stronger than the beasts of New Earth at the same Tier.'
Corey narrowed his eyes, and expanded the range of his Eyes of Omniscience by pouring more mana into it.
A few seconds later, he reduced the output back to its optimal level.
'At the pace we're moving. It might take us more than a day to reach the ends of the grass plains. I'll most likely need to hasten our movement since my main goal here is the Book of Death.'
Corey furrowed his brows slightly, and then he looked behind him.
He stopped walking with his eyes staring directly at Pamela.
"Why are you still following us?"
"Because you guys are going in the same direction I am." Pamela shamelessly raised a brow, and Corey's lips twitched.
"Why don't you stay in front and go wherever you want to go to? Won't that be better?"
Pamela tilted her head. "So that you guys will start following me? No thanks."
Corey's lips twitched the more, and he could not but wonder how somebody could be so shameless.
He sighed, and then he looked at Pamela with an emotionless gaze. "Try anything funny and I'll kill you."
Pamela smiled. "You tried that the last time. Or have you forgotten how that turned out."
Pure white lightning flashed around Pamela's hands, and Corey's brow twitched when he felt the aura of the Lightning Infinity Crystal from the lightning.
A sour taste was left in his mouth, and he clicked his tongue and turned around. He was about to take a step, but Pamela suddenly laughed.
"You're so stuck up and easy to piss off man. Take a chill pill."
Corey paused, and looked at Pamela with a deadpan expression.
Pamela chuckled, and then she pointed at Kiefer. "Since this Queen advised you to bring him along, I'm definitely going to follow you and reap the fruits of my labour."
Corey's right brow twitched. "What stupid fruits of labour? All you did was suggest that I bring him along to this dangerous place."
"And we're definitely going to find a lot of precious herbs in this place because of that. Don't you know that a good advice can be what can make a man a millionaire? In the past, if a trading expert advises you to make a so so trade, and that trade is what makes you a multimillionaire, wasn't the advise from that trading expert the most important?"
Corey blinked, and he gave Pamela a strange look. "You used to trade before the apocalypse?"
Pamela nodded, and a frustrated expression appeared on her face. "And I was this close to becoming a huge multimillionaire. This close. I had just made a million in my account, and this damned apocalypse just had to happen before my investment made me a lot more money."
Pamela kicked a stone in anger, and he felt like he was seeing a side of Pamela he never expected to see, and he was truly stunned.
"Anyway. I'm following you guys because that boy will definitely lead us to the true treasures in this place. Look at him, he's already making the expression that says he's found a treasure and he's communicating with it to know where it is."
Corey glanced at Kiefer, and although he already knew that Kiefer was looking in another direction and was clearly distracted, he did not know that what he was doing was communicating with a plant.
'I know that he has the Celestial Verdant Physique which grants him an extremely high affinity with plants and the wood element, and his unique soul- The Blossomheart Nexus Soul also allows him to sense and recognize unique plants. His soul also allows him to naturally know the characteristics of a plant even if he's just seeing it. But I didn't know that he could communicate with plants.'
'I really need to start understanding him, Selene, and Willow more.'
Corey frowned slightly, and then he looked at Pamela.
'And it doesn't really sit right with me that she knows more about them than me, their master.'
Pamela raised her arms with a light smile and chuckle. "Don't look at me like that. You were gone for three years, and I took the liberty to help you and train them. So of course I understand them more than you despite being their Master."
A light smile that was not really a smile appeared on Corey's lips as he restrained the urge to seriously wipe off the grin off Pamela's face. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Pamela shamelessly nodded in appreciation, and Corey's lips twitched.
He was about to talk, but Kiefer tapped him and pointed in a particular direction.
"There's an extremely precious herb over there."
