"Unknown creatures are approaching!"

The security guard in the hall received the message from outside through the walkie-talkie.

Pop! Pop! Pop…

Soon, the gunshots started to intensify.

The manor's security was rhythmically firing short bursts, the beams of tactical flashlights reaching far and illuminating one quickly moving eerie silhouette after another.

"Awooo!"

A wolf's howl rang out, followed by more responses from its kin. Roars and sounds of struggle suddenly erupted; a few mutants that got too close encountered the North American grey wolves, and not just one of them.

The robust North American grey wolves could fight solo or swarm their prey. Among canids, their combat prowess was commendable.

Chen Fei was amused the moment he heard it; even the beast tamer had been dragged into this mess.

The combined combat power of ten North American grey wolves was quite formidable, enough to cover the gaps in the manor security's fire interception.

Jacob Felix, a Level B Psychic Ability User and beast tamer, was cursing inside. He just wanted to watch Chen Fei's spectacle, but unexpectedly after an earth-shattering moment, he found himself in this bizarre place with no escape, wondering if he could even survive to return.

"It's mutants, and there are a lot of them!"

After confirming the identity of the creatures approaching, Butler Thompson exclaimed in shock.

He immediately told everyone aloud, "I need everyone's help. There are weapons and ammunition in the shelter; we must hold this place, or no one will survive."

Butler Thompson's words immediately got a response; over a hundred military contractors and their personnel were eager and ready. This was really not the time for choices, better think of ways to survive the mutants' assault first.

"Where are the guns? Is there enough ammo?"

"Do we have mortars? I'm very accurate with them!"

"I can use a sniper rifle!"

"I need hand grenades, the more powerful the better."

Since they were all professionals in this line of work, familiarity with firearms was a given, nearly an instantaneous fighting force.

The number of weapons and ammunition stored in the underground shelter was substantial, mostly light weapons but with a few rocket projectiles and mortars, much to the delight of the military contractors.

At least, when facing the mutants, they were not utterly powerless.

Almost everyone there was professional; the manor main house immediately became a sturdy fortress.

Butler Thompson had some regrets; he had been too hasty in forcing the two supernatural power users from Jiu Defense to inject the suppressant.

If only they still had their abilities, they would have additional strength in dealing with the mutant onslaught.

But there are no do-overs in life, what's missed is missed, even looking back is too late.

The short bursts turned into longer bursts, finally becoming continuous fire.

Clearly, the mutants' assault was putting intense pressure on the guards defending the main house, forcing them to open fire fully.

"Shall we take a look?"

Chen Fei gave Boss Hana a meaningful glance.

"Sure!"

Hanna Gagel gladly agreed.

She also wanted to see what kind of mutants could force the manor's security and military contractors into such a tough fight.

Nearly two hundred automatic firearms along with several mortars were enough to start a small-scale war.

"Don't wander off!"

Two manor guards were assigned to watch over Hanna Gagel and Chen Fei, these two suspects. This was the most manpower Butler Thompson could spare.

"Sorry, we're just looking. Given the current situation, what trouble do you think we could still cause?"

Facing the black muzzles of the guns, Chen Fei raised his hands leisurely and shook them.

These two guards were surely making too much of a fuss.

The guards looked at each other and one of them slowly nodded and said, "Okay, but do not leave my sight!"

The special bullet-resistant glass designed to withstand light firearms was instantly subjected to a terrifying impact beyond its limit. Along with the window frame, it shattered into bean-sized shards flying wildly like shrapnel.

Caught off-guard, a military contractor screamed sharply, "A mutant has broken in!"

His automatic weapon was knocked far from his reach.

A monster, covered in spikes, rolled a few times on the ground, suddenly emitting a devil's ear-piercing scream.

"Squeak!~~~"

Just as it shook its head, trying to struggle to its feet, a shadow swept over it.

Puff!~

The shrieking sound abruptly stopped.

A silver-white metal rod, still with threads, forcefully penetrated the monster's head and then was brutally pried open, tossing up a mix of red and white brains like mapo tofu along with the cranium.

The monster's brain was not large, being only about the size of a fist, and its thick, hard skull was no more durable than a brittle biscuit. Once the crowbar was exerted, everything flew out.

With its brain gone, could the mutant still live? A neat strike later, it was done for on the spot!

The military contractor was inhaling sharply, while saying: "..."

We agreed to inject the Supernatural Ability Suppressant together, so why am I the only one being suppressed?

"The suppressant doesn't work on me, I was just comforting them a bit."

Chen Fei weighed the freshly forged White Steel crowbar, but the Physics Holy Sword was his weapon of choice.

When it came to prying the skulls of these mutants, he was a skilled worker, needing only a glance to know exactly where to start for a quick and clean job.

Hanna Gagel then realized why Pure Light Sparrow Xiao Jiu kept following her and hadn't returned to Chen Fei's side.

Turned out, she was the fool all along.

"Report to Mr. Thompson, the Supernatural Ability Suppressant is ineffective on Chen Fei!"

The two manor guards, finally catching on, grabbed their radios at once to relay this critical intelligence to the butler.

"What?"

Butler Thompson, who was organizing the defense against the mutant attack, paled with shock. Two uncontrollable suspects could mean an unstable defensive line, so he bellowed fiercely, "Keep a close watch on both of them, and if there's any reckless behavior, kill without mercy, remember, at all costs!"

When everyone was struggling against the mutants, the last thing they wanted was insubordination from within, causing a total collapse of their defenses.

The two guards roared in unison, guns once again aimed at Chen Fei and Hanna Gagel.

"Light weapons are ineffective against me! You two might as well relax."

Chen Fei walked to a window with a large hole, looking out.

This was a room on the second floor.

"Hey, someone, hand me the gun and help me over."

The military contractor was a mess on the floor, struggling to get up. His absence meant a gap in their defensive line, and if not promptly filled, more mutants might continuously pour in.

One of the two manor guards went to help the contractor, while the other kept a vigilant eye on them, especially Chen Fei at the window.

Boss Hana noticed Chen Fei's eagerness and quickly warned, "Hey, 'Rookie', don't do anything rash!"

"It's so vast outside, I want to check it out!"

As Chen Fei spoke, he swung his arm in a Patton-style salute and threw himself down.

"Hey!"

By the time the two guards simultaneously rushed to the window ledge, there was no one left on the ground.

Seizing a gap in the line, a mutant monster that had gotten too close was sent flying back, heavily crashing into the crowd of mutants, causing a chorus of panicked squeals.

A massive figure clad in heavy armor crashed into the incoming surge of mutants like a cannonball, instantly sending four or five mutants flying into the air before they heavily fell.

With his Physics Holy Sword, he swung creating heavy afterimages, easily and neatly prying out brains. In a blink, the bodies of the mutants lay staggered across the ground. Wherever he passed, no opponents were left, blood flowed like rivers in his wake.

"What's happening? Who rushed out there!"

The manor's butler Thompson, commanding the defenses, could not fathom this sudden turn of events.

"Report, it's Chen Fei from Jiu Defense Company, he rushed out."

"What? Has he gone mad?"

A supernatural power user injected with the suppressant shouldn't be much stronger than a regular person. Rushing out like that, was he seeking a quicker death?

"No, the suppressant is ineffective on him, he said it himself."

The two guards were nearly in tears; they were tasked with monitoring closely, and yet one of them had slipped away, a mistake impossible to explain.

"A Supernatural Ability Suppressant ineffective? How could such a thing happen!"

Butler Thompson could never have imagined the previously reliable suppressant failing.

"Mr. Thompson, what should we do?"

The two guards looked for instructions, while defensively watching Hanna Gagel.

Boss Hana received special treatment; the Supernatural Ability Suppressant had tightly suppressed her Wind-type Psionic Ability. She couldn't recklessly thrash about like "Rookie."

The struggling military contractor clenched his teeth, laboriously lifted his automatic rifle, and began firing short bursts outside.

At this critical juncture, everyone was fighting desperately.
