Skyrim System In Westeros

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: The Future of the Baratheons

"Od~~Ah~~Viing~~"

Wright's magic-infused voice traveled far, beyond the range of human hearing.

Robert, Stannis, and Renly followed Wright's gaze and stared blankly at the sky.

After waiting for a long time, Renly pointed at a small moving figure in the sky: "Is that him?"

Wright: "No, that's just a bird. Let the dragon fly a little longer!"

Robert: "Is your dragon not hiding in the nearby woods?"

Wright: "He's staying in the Disputed Lands. The dragon language magic just now can speed up his flight. Let's go under the shade of the trees first. This sun is really strong."

Odahviing was slow in his actions. Wright had called him in advance, leaving time to chat with the others.

The four of them blindfolded their horses, led them to the shade of the trees beside the open space, tied the horses to the trees, and then found some rocks to sit down and rest.

Robert took a sip from his water skin and asked: "Are you planning to raise the dragon here?"

Wright: "Yes, this basin is just the right size."

Robert: "The Targaryen girl has three dragons. When the dragons grow up, they will seriously threaten us. Wright, do you have any plans?"

Wright crossed his legs on the rock, took off his shoes, and picked at his toes: "Is there still no information about her?"

Stannis: "She must have supporters among the remnants who support the restoration of the Targaryen dynasty. After the dragons hatched, they would definitely move her to a safe location and wait for the dragons to grow up."

Renly also took out his water skin and drank: "Three dragons, just like Aegon Targaryen and his two sisters conquered Westeros three hundred years ago."

"You don't need to worry about the Targaryens' three dragons."

Wright unfastened the chain on his waist, placed the white metal-covered book, 'The House Baratheon's Guide to Dragon Breeding and Riding, flat on the rock', and stroked the spine of the book with one hand.

Robert and the other nobles had been wondering what the book Wright carried with him, locked with chains, was. It was something Wright carried so carefully. Robert had asked Wright before, and Wright told him he would open it when the dragon arrived.

Red-gold magical light lit up on the white metal cover, flowing along the complex magic patterns. With a few clicks, the book's lock opened, and Wright directly turned to the second page. Robert and the three others leaned in to see what it was.

Slap!

Robert slapped Wright on the head and pointed at the page with his finger.

"Isn't this just your self-portrait! You carry it around like a treasure!"

Robert didn't understand art, and Wright wasn't angry. He turned another page.

From the third page onward, it was all in High Valyrian. Robert and Stannis had seen the High Valyrian books Wright wrote when he was a child, but they couldn't learn it no matter how hard they tried. Now only Renly could understand it.

Even with High Valyrian, everyone's writing would be slightly different. The three recognized that these words were all in Wright's handwriting.

Robert and Stannis couldn't understand and looked at Wright, waiting for an explanation. Renly turned the book to face him. He knew High Valyrian, but he wasn't very proficient and hadn't had many opportunities to use it. He was carefully reading it word by word.

"With this, there will be a new Dragon King."

Wright stood up, using his hand to sweep back the hair that Robert had messed up:

"House Baratheon will stand proudly at the top of the sky!"

"Ah~~~?"

Robert, Stannis, and Renly looked up at Wright and made the same sound, their minds full of questions.

Wright sat down again: "This is what I wrote about the true knowledge of dragons: breeding, raising, and how to become a dragon rider."

Stannis rarely spoke when he was alone with Robert, but he talked more with Wright: "Every great family has some records of dragon stories. The method of hatching dragon eggs has been lost by the Targaryen for more than a hundred years. Have you been deceived?"

Wright understood what everyone was thinking. It was like everyone in the modern world growing up watching science fiction movies, and suddenly one day a video was posted online saying that aliens had arrived on Earth! Everyone's first thought would definitely be that it wasn't true, either it was a promotion for some movie or a prank.

Wright: "As far as I know now, 500 years ago, when the Targaryen family left Valyria, they had already lost the method of raising dragons, only raising dragons as powerful beasts. And I have written the real methods into this book."

Stannis: "It seems you have gained a lot in these three years you were away. If it's true, then this book will become the Baratheon's heirloom! No wonder you are so cautious, using a white steel cover and engraving defensive magic on it."

Renly was still looking at the book. He quickly skimmed through a few pages, flipped to the page about Dragonlord bloodlines, looked up at Robert, then at Stannis, and then lowered his head again without speaking.

Wright noticed Renly and the page he was looking at. Some things had to be said sooner or later.

"Dragon reproduction is one aspect. In addition, there is also a legacy regarding Dragonlords."

The three perked up their ears to listen. Who wouldn't want to become a Dragonlord?

Wright: "Without Dragonlord blood, even a dragon without a rider wouldn't acknowledge you as a Dragonlord; you would only become dragon food."

Robert: "That's not right. I remember during the Dance of the Dragons over two hundred years ago, didn't some people from other families on Dragonstone tame wild dragons?"

Wright explained: "The residents of Dragonstone revered the Targaryens as gods. They always maintained the right of the first night. The residents considered being bedded by a Targaryen a great honor, and the first generation born from these unions were called dragonseeds. As the first generation of Targaryen blood, their blood was very strong. But by the next generation, the blood became diluted."

Robert pointed at their dark hair and asked: "Will we have this problem? We also have Targaryen blood, if you count it?"

Wright: "It's also possible. For example, some future descendant of ours, if they marry into another strong and robust family, could lose the heritage. So we must, like the Targaryens, ensure that those who retain the family's black hair characteristic become the main line."

Wright had discussed this with Odahviing, and it had no way to guarantee it. Perhaps Wright could research some method to strengthen the bloodline in the future, such as his old friend did by integrating the magic effect of the dragon priest mask into the bloodline of his descendants.

After hearing this, Robert recalled something and angrily cursed: "That damn Cersei!"

So many years had passed, and he wasn't as angry as he used to be, but few dared to mention this matter in front of him.

Wright: "Why are you still thinking about her? What I'm about to say is even more important; you must listen carefully."

The three stood up straight, listening attentively.

Wright looked at Robert: "After I obtained this dragon, it's equivalent to starting another Dragonlord bloodline, different from the Valyrian Empire's. But regarding the inheritance, I can be considered a starting point. The dragon will only recognize my descendants."

Wright paused and then continued: "Renly may also become a Dragonlord. My dragon has a dragon egg. Renly and I are twins, our blood is almost identical, but I can't guarantee it. We can only try."

The golden-silver dragon egg with flame patterns that the Volantene Triarch had given Wright was laid by a descendant of Odahviing. It originally belonged to Maester Aemon's brother, Aerion Targaryen. After the dragon egg became a fossil, it was activated by the magic of the Odahviing and became its direct descendant.

"Renly?" Robert and Stannis both looked at Renly.

"Me?" Renly pointed at himself.

"Don't be too happy yet. We can try, but I really can't guarantee it."

Wright was just speculating. He had transmigrated as Renly's twin, his body was actually split from Renly. Wright's Dragonlord bloodline had strengthened Renly in reverse, making Renly a five-School mage. Since the dragon's inheritance was tied to his bloodline, then Renly had a high possibility of hatching a dragon egg.

This information was overwhelming, and the three were still digesting it. Among the four, only Wright and Renly could possibly have dragons. Robert and Stannis were denied the dream of flying. But Wright kept looking into Robert's eyes.

The three also realized that this not only concerned who could become a Dragonlord in the future, but this matter already involved the future stability of the Westeros kingdom.

Robert reached out and patted Wright on the shoulder: "From childhood to adulthood, I've always liked your intelligence and sincerity!"

This kind of thing was originally very taboo. Even between the Hand of the King or close brothers, when it came to the issue of succession to the throne, they would be very cautious and only make veiled hints to the king.

But Wright didn't like beating around the bush.

Having strength gave him confidence.

He dared to say it in front of Robert!

Wright pressed his hand on the stone and conjured four small ice men facing each other. Then, he conjured more and smaller ice men behind the four.

"While the four of us are still alive, I can guarantee that there will definitely be no chaos. But once the four of us are old and dead, there's no way to guarantee what our descendants will do."

On the stone, the four ice men that appeared first melted, leaving only a pile of the same shape, divided into four phalanxes, two of which had dragon-shaped ice sculptures behind them.

Robert, Stannis, Renly, and Wright looked at the crystal-clear ice men, and they all fell into silence.

What Wright said about not being able to guarantee things after their deaths was something everyone understood: it meant that their descendants would fight for the throne!

Now, among the four Baratheon brothers, the younger they were, the stronger they were. The key was that this strength wasn't just personal strength; now they also had dragons, which was a kind of power that could influence the entire continent.

Wright Baratheon: the strongest mage on the entire continent, all other mages learned knowledge from Wright, and he was top-notch in knowledge and business. He was the fourth child in the family.

Renly Baratheon: following Wright's learning, he became a powerful mage second only to Wright. He might also develop a family of Dragonlords and had a particularly good relationship with Wright. He was the third child.

Stannis Baratheon: the second child, Lord of Dragonstone, was just a mortal compared to his two younger brothers.

Robert Baratheon: the eldest brother, the king, was also a mortal.

Robert was now racking his brains thinking about the future path. Wright bringing up this matter was indeed very cruel.

Either the four of them could pretend to be ignorant and live happily for a lifetime, not worrying about the future even if there was a great flood after their deaths. Or Renly and Wright could go to the Eastern Continent to expand their territory and develop new lands away from Westeros. But how could they control what their descendants thought? If they didn't want a future Baratheon civil war, they had to resolve this matter in advance.

Stannis and Renly were also very gratified that Wright had informed them of this situation in advance. If they could come up with a solution, they could avoid bloody battles within the family in the future.

Stannis was thinking that his family, compared to Wright and Renly, was destined to be ordinary. If they joined the war, they would suffer heavy casualties, and perhaps even become extinct like Robert's line.

Renly, thinking about his marriage to Margaery Tyrell, which was just an agreement, wondered how he and Loras could have a child. Adoption was definitely not an option; without Dragonlord blood, it wouldn't work. He had a terrible headache.

At this moment, Wright interrupted everyone's thoughts.

"The dragon is coming!"

Wright stood up, and Robert and the other two followed suit. However, seeing Wright standing still, Robert pointed to the open space in front and asked:

"Are we not going ahead? Are we waiting here?"

Wright: "Right here."

Stannis: "There are many dragon carvings on the Dragonstone, but they are all black. What color is your dragon?"

Wright pointed to a small black dot in the sky: "The head and back are red, and the belly and wings are somewhat white."

Robert walked to his horse, took down a small bag, and threw it to Wright: "The books record that dragons eat meat. I asked the chef to prepare some."

Wright opened the bag, looking at a fist-sized piece of raw meat: "This is probably not enough!"

Robert and the others shielded their eyes from the sun, looking at the black dot in the sky. The altitude was gradually decreasing, and they could already see the dragon's outline.

Renly: "It really is a dragon!"

Robert looked at the approaching dragon, its size constantly increasing, and moved closer to Wright: "Just how big is your dragon?"

Wright: "Bigger than the Black Dread!"

"What!" The three exclaimed in unison.

They had all seen the skull of the Black Dread under the Red Keep. Even without seeing the body's skeleton, just the skull alone was enough to imagine a behemoth.

Odahviing didn't roar; Wright had told it before he left that this was a secret visit.

The dragon flew closer and closer, rapidly descending towards the sea in the distance, its figure hidden by the mountain.

The animals in the surrounding forest stopped chirping, and even the four men's horses, even with blindfolds, began to pace anxiously.

Robert and the others stared in the direction where the giant dragon disappeared, waiting for it to fly over the ridge.

Before long, a huge head covered with red, ferocious horns emerged from behind the ridge. The exposed giant teeth made the three have no doubt that nothing could survive a bite from it.

Next appeared a thorny neck, wings spanning nearly two hundred meters, and a slowly swaying, equally thorny, giant tail. The entire body was also more than one hundred meters long. The giant dragon turned its head to look in Wright's direction, its huge wings slightly twisting to change direction. When it flew over their heads, the sun was completely blocked, and Robert and the others felt as if they had entered the night.

The three wanted to speak, but facing such a massive beast for the first time, they felt a force within them suppressing them, making them speechless.

Thump!

The package clutched in the dragon's claws was thrown from the air onto the open space.

"Holy crap! Was this really necessary?" Wright cursed.

Odahviing made a small circle at low altitude and flew over the open space, standing upright, its wings slowly retracting.

Boom!

The dragon's landing sent a dull thud, and the four people in the distance felt the ground shake. The leaves in the forest also rustled.

"Dragonborn! Where's the meat?"

Renly understood the last two words and said in surprise: "The giant dragon can speak!?"

Wright untied the reins of his and Renly's horses and led them toward the giant dragon: "Dragons have the same intelligence as humans. Of course, they can speak. That's why I said the Targaryen's method of raising dragons was completely wrong. They raised dragons as beasts."

Wright had ridden over on horseback to provide food for Odahviing.

"Let's go, let's go over there." Wright called to the three, whose legs were too weak to walk.
