Chapter 8: Chapter 7: Abyss Awaken
Kael stood alone in the middle of the war-torn battlefield, the bodies of monstrous abyssal creatures strewn around him. Blood soaked the ground beneath him, and the sky above cracked open, pouring waves of blackened energy. The storm was more than just a violent tempest—it was a manifestation of Kael's own inner rage. His golden-black eyes flickered with the malevolent glow of the Void.
The Abyssal Codex pulsed with an insidious energy as its voice echoed inside his mind.
["You have devoured the bloodline of Shadowfang Wraith."]
A shiver of satisfaction ran down Kael's spine. It wasn't just the physical power that surged within him; it was the sense of control, of having taken another step toward the freedom he so desperately craved.
It had been years since Kael had been betrayed in his past life. Earth, his home, had fallen to a cataclysmic event, but he had not perished due to the event itself. No, his death had been a result of the treachery of those he once called brothers. They had lured him into a trap, shackling him in a dungeon filled with monsters. His trust had been shattered, and in his final moments, he had seen the woman he loved—his fiancée—kissing another man. His life had been snuffed out in an instant.
But death had not been the end.
Kael awakened in this new world, a realm where magic and ancient bloodlines ruled. It was here that his soul merged with the Abyssal Codex, an artifact of ancient origins. The Codex had become his weapon, his system, and eventually... something more.
With every battle, every soul he devoured, Kael's power expanded. The transformation was inevitable. He was no longer human. He had become Voidborn. An entity that transcended mortal limits and drew strength from the very abyss itself.
Far above, in the Demon Empire, a figure bathed in darkness watched Kael's awakening. Her crimson eyes burned with obsession as she traced Kael's every movement through the veil of shadows.
Lilith, the Succubus Empress, the ruler of the demonic horde, and Kael's so-called "mother."
Her lips curled into a seductive smile as her fingers traced the edge of her throne. "My Kael... you have finally awakened."
Her love for him was twisted. She didn't desire him as a son, nor as a mere puppet. She longed for him as a mate, the perfect being who would one day ascend to the Abyssal Throne beside her. For centuries, she had manipulated the underworld's factions, waiting for Kael to step into the darkness.
Kael, however, cared little for the desires of others. His goal was simple: to shatter the cosmic chains that bound him, to break free from the will of the System and the ancient beings that ruled the multiverse.
The Codex whispered once more, its voice filled with ancient hunger.
["Master, the path of the Abyssal Sovereign lies ahead. Devour. Assimilate. Evolve."]
Kael's body trembled as abyssal energy surged through his veins. The bloodline of the Shadowfang Wraith coursed within him now, granting him the ability to manipulate shadows and slip between dimensions. Yet, it was merely the beginning.
A void rift tore open behind him, and from within, monstrous beings began to emerge. Ancient creatures that once ruled the lower realms, drawn by the awakening of the Voidborn.
Kael's gaze sharpened.
He extended his hand, and from the Codex, tendrils of blackened energy lashed out, piercing the creatures and draining their very essence. Their bodies withered and collapsed as Kael's aura grew even more terrifying.
In the distance, two figures observed Kael from the shadows.
Sylva, the Elf Princess and heir to the Moonlight Clan, clenched her fists in frustration. She had once led an army to cleanse the Abyss, only to be defeated by Kael's overwhelming power. Yet, deep within her, fear twisted into something more... fascination. She hated him, but her elven blood resonated with his ancient darkness.
Beside her stood Seraphina, the Dragon Princess. A being of noble blood, descended from the Primordial Dragon King. The moment she felt Kael's awakening, her dragon instincts screamed at her to submit to him. Her pride fought against it, but her heart... it longed for something her ancestors had once warned her about—the Voidborn Sovereign.
Kael sensed their presence but paid them no heed.
He stepped forward, his eyes burning with cold determination.
The Abyssal Citadel awaited him. An ancient fortress that held the forbidden knowledge of the Abyssal Sovereign Path. To ascend, Kael needed to claim the throne of the Void itself.
Yet, as Kael walked deeper into the darkness, he felt the Codex's voice growing more... intimate.
["I am yours, Master... body and soul. I exist to serve you... to become one with you."]
Kael's heart pounded.
He had long suspected that the Codex was more than just a system. It was sentient. And now... it was awakening alongside him.
The path ahead was drenched in blood and chaos. The multiverse would soon know the terror of the Voidborn Sovereign.
And Kael...
He would devour everything that stood in his way.
