Chapter 250: Impromptu Race
They ran through the streets at incredible speeds. They were quite too as they moved. Sometimes they had to move over or around objects as they did so. Especially since the buildings grew in size as they moved. In the distance they could see the objective.
A group of sky scrapers that were grouped together and had several bridges going in between them. They could also see many overhangs and other things that were not standard on a building. They were the extravagant palace towers.
There were nine of them around the planet, each housed a different member of the imperial or royal family. This one in front of him housed the youngest prince and was on the other side of the world from the main imperial palace.
The Emperor's palace was lower to the ground. It was not located on a tower like the aptly named prince's towers were. It was on the ground level with only ten floors in all but several underground areas that stored the Vexical Imperial families' more sensitive secrets. Then while it did mainly house the Emperor, the first prince and the princess had taken up residence at the Emperor's palace under the name of ease since both had business there at varying times of the day.
The Emperor allowed it because it let him keep a close eye on his treacherous children. So both of their towers were not as used by them. But Archduke Beltrum had been using the first prince's tower as a base to run his operations for the Tyranus Society. While the princess was using her tower for trade and housing high level members of trading families.
As they arrived at a street with a clear view of the building's entrance he flinched in surprise. While Nila spoke her mind, "this looks less like a residence and more like a prison." Nila pointed out as they approached the metal gate with a military camp set up out front of it.
"Probably because it is. The young prince is likely being kept prisoner in his own home. Keep in mind that only the head maid is aware that we are coming for the prince." Jace reminded her as he could feel his trigger finger get itchy.
Nila grunted in agreement as they neared the entrance and the camp in front of it by the second. "What is the plan?"
"The same as it was before. We do not have to worry about being detected though. It is impossible for them to have technology like that." Jace assured her, "so we do not want to give away our presence by killing a bunch of enemy soldiers."
"Understood…" Nila answered but he could almost swear he heard her sigh as she answered.
After a few more seconds they were moving through the hastily thrown together camp. It was like they set up a primary line of defense in front of the fortified palace walls. But as he moved he could see hasty movement from the soldiers.
He spotted the command tent as he walked past and focused his hearing on that location. "-so we will be able to move into a more advantageous battle after the prince is removed from the board. Have the troops move into positions to fortify the lower to ground positions. The tower is too easy of a target to get hit and fall on us."
Just from that snippet of information alone he had a bad feeling. "Nila we are going to have to pick up the pace." Jace ordered as they sped up and he kicked off the ground and leaped right over the two stories high gate.
"Understood sir!" Nila answered and he could hear excitement in her voice as he watched her tracking dot pick up the pace. It seems she was not going her full speed the entire time. Well neither was he but he was completely caught off guard when he saw her dot go up the side of the building.
He focused his eyes and he could make out her making holes in the glass and walls as she climbed. "That's cheating!" Jace exclaimed before he dashed at full speed into the building. The glass crashed and fell apart from the first floor. But he ignored the shocked expressions of the guards and attendants on the ground floor as he ran to the nearest elevator which was opening up. "Guardian-01, the first prince is about to kick this whole civil war off. Be ready for a hot pickup."
He ran into the elevator where someone was pushing a metal cart out of it. He used the metal cart as a jumping point and went straight through a hatch in the roof. It flew off the hinges while the cart groaned as an indentation of a foot appeared.
He flew up the elevator shaft and when he felt his body losing momentum he reached out and grabbed the edge and threw himself further up the elevator shaft. Each time he did so another portion of the elevator shaft was damaged from the force of his actions.
At the same time he was tracking the location of the head maid who was supposed to be at the side of the prince at all times. He then looked another way and saw that he was catching up with Nila who was literally running up the side of the building.
"Understood," he could hear Asana answer. "Send up a digital flare when you are ready for a pickup. We are staying out of sight for now. Uti managed to set up a listening device and it seems the space ships up here are getting in formation to destroy the-"
She suddenly stopped speaking and Jace frowned at that as he leaped off another portion of the building. The metal bending as he jumped off a portion of the wall.
"The trade station just went into warp and disappeared. It seems the princess has been preparing as well. We will watch to see what happens. We will keep you updated." Asana informed him.
"Good." Jace agreed as he arrived at the floor where the prince was located. But instead of punching the doors out he pulled them open.
It was time to introduce himself to the youngest prince of the Vexical Imperial family.
