Space Odyssey: Spectre

Chapter 251: Introductions are in Order

The doors only slightly creaked as he opened them. He then walked into the elevator lobby where there were a few maids and guards staring in surprise. Jace walked past them to the marker his heads up display had. He could see that Nila had arrived at the floor but seemed to be waiting a distance away.

"I win." He could hear Nila whisper over the channel. He rolled his eyes as he walked into the room where the head maid was located. But he slowed and stopped as he could sense something was off.

"Prince Trajan, please you must eat if you are to keep up your strength." An overly joyful guard told the prince who was sitting at the head of a table with soup in front of him. Jace felt an ominous feeling from this guard and the other guards who all hand hands on their weapons.

But the prince was frowning as he looked down at it. While the head maid and the other maids were standing around the prince defensively. He could already see several hidden weapons that were ready to be unsheathed and used on their bodies.

"You are overstepping your duties as a mere head guard. You may be new here, but you are not needed for everything. In fact it would be best that you leave the building to check on those soldiers out front." The Head Maid, if he recalls her name is Ophelia Rook, she is a trusted member of the Director's inner circle. Unfortunately she is less trained due to giving birth to her own child and then having to discreetly protect Prince Trajan.

"Head Maid Rook," the head guard sighed and then shook his head before pulling out his weapon. "Prince Trajan, if you do not drink the poisoned soup we will kill all of your maids. But do not worry if they do not die in the first volley, we will enjoy slate our lusts on their supple flesh for-"

"I will do it!" Prince Trajan had a look of confidence on his face as he reached out and picked up the bowl.

"No-!" The head maid reached for the bowl.

But before that could happen it was pulled out of the prince's hands and seemingly floated in the air. In reality it was Jace picking up the dish. He tossed it in the air toward the head guard. He then whispered an order to Nila.

He then stood next to Prince Trajan and appeared. He could hear several guns click as they were pointed at him. While the maids were just as equally as surprised, a quick signal from the Head Maid prevented them from drawing their weapons.

Jace looked down at the prince. "Prince Trajan Vexical. My name is Spectre Jace of the Cerberus Squad. I was sent by Director Fenrir to come and extract you from Vexical Prime. I apologize for tossing your bowl of poison, but at your current level you are likely to die from the poison."

Prince Trajan stared up at him and then looked at the head guard. "Umm… are you not worried about the guards? They seem to want to kill me. They will kill you too for getting in the way." The young prince pointed out as he looked over Jace's strange armor.

Jace tilted his head, "what guards?" Jace asked, faking confusion and then looking around before nodding his head in seemingly understanding. "Oh you mean the traitors." Jace shook his head, "you do not have to worry Prince Trajan. We will grant them the opportunity to surrender."

Prince Trajan with his confused expression seemed to be ready to say something when the head guard spoke up with a growl. "We? All I see is a single soldier, a worthless prince, and a bunch of maids."

Jace began laughing loudly, "my god! The Tyranus Society really does scrap the bottom of the barrel with their recruitment. How much of a moron must you be? Actually, look at that, it seems some of your fellow guards seemed to have realized what I meant." Jace pointed out while nodding his head in the direction of a guard who began looking around while lowering his weapon.

"Ah screw this, just kill them!" The head guard took aim at Prince Trajan.

Jace moved his hand in the path the bullet would take. "Just the head guard for now." Jace ordered aloud.

BANG!

It was like a loud crack of thunder in the room as it disrupted the flow of tension. But the guards all lowered their weapons in disbelief while the now headless head guard fell to the ground. Ha… headless head guard. The shock was not from his death but rather that the armored helmet was destroyed along with the head.

The head guard along with the other guards for the prince were wearing an ancient and more advanced version of Infantry armor. Yet the head guard's body was falling to the ground leaving a bloody stump at the neck bleeding. They flinched as it collapsed and blood began pooling on the carpet.

They had carpet? Why did they have carpet? Was it because this was technically a residence?

Jace shook off his questions for the moment and instead looked around at the other stunned guards. "So are you going to surrender or am I going to have to subject the prince to the sight of more of your heads exploding?" Jace asked, grinning under his helmet as he looked for the next troublesome person.

But instead the guards started dropping their weapons and raising their hands in the air. Pathetic excuses for guards, they could not even think for themselves. Jace turned to the head maid, "can you have your maids tie up the guards and take their weapons. I assume they know how to use them."

Head Maid Rook blinked in surprise and nodded. "Girls, tie up the guards and take anything useful from them." She then looked over Jace and then looked at the emblem on his shoulder. "Cerberus… Guardian of the Underworld. She did say the squad coming to pick up the prince was strange."

Jace laughed again, "you have no idea!"
