Chapter 28: Another Morningbolt
The silence that followed Rosa's claim was deafening. Leo was beyond shocked to discover that this crazy Rosa girl was Jade's sister.
"Why am I an acquatince of two Morningbolt siblings in a single day?" He thought.
Leo stared more at Rosa, trying to see the semblance between she and Jade, but there was little he could find. Jade was red-haired while Rosa was brown-haired, Jade had thin sharp eyes while hers was big and bright. Even their lips, nose, face shape, posture, aura was all different. Leo felt like he was being played by Rosa, but he wasn't willing to find out any further.
From the little he heard, the Morningbolt are a dangerous family to cross since they took the first rank among the most powerful families. Rumours even flew about that they inject their members with something that doubles their quirk strength. Plus the fact that they are so rich that they can buy a specific quirk for their members if they couldn't be mutated on Luxus, as long as the person isn't an Impossible.
"But if Rosa really was from the Morningbolt family, why is she just a C-rank? Didn't she get injected like people say they do? Why wasn't she that popular in the school like Jade? Why did the teachers not recognize her immediately when she was stunned on the field?" Leo thought long and hard.
Rosa then broke his train of thought. "You must be thinking that it's impossible for me to be a Morningbolt, am I right?"
"Err, no I wasn't," Leo lied.
"Don't worry, I'll tell you everything later."
"No, don't tell me. I don't want to have anything to do with your family. Matter of fact, your brother has made my first day here a living hell. Get lost," Leo wanted to say all these but he kept quiet as they both walked to the staff room to face the consequences of their rash actions.
"I'll tell you everything later," she repeated. "Since we are now friends."
She stretched forth her soft hand for a shake, but Leo only stared at her, a little scared of her advances towards him.
"Since when did I ask her to be my friend? Is this some sort of trap? And..."
"I almost forgot, what the hell happened by the window earlier?" Leo asked with a frown whole completely ignoring Rosa's handshake invitation.
"Where? Oh, right. I just pushed you, that's all. We're friends after all." Rosa said.
Leo was furious but he couldn't vent out his anger. After all, he was still quirkless and she was still a rank above his own fake rank.
"I don't know where you came from, but you don't just push people down a window just because they are your 'friends'." Leo said, indicating a quotation mark as he said the word 'friend'.
Rosa appeared a tad hurt. "But you didn't get hurt, did you? I saved you at the end."
"If you pushed me at first, then it's not called saving. It's just what you had to do," Leo countered, shaking his head in frustration.
"Alright, I will ask you the next time I want to push you," Rosa said frankly.
"Good stars, I must find a way to steer clear of this girl later," Leo thought.
Finally, they both arrived at the door of the staff room. Leo was about to knock when the door slid open automatically. Rosa chuckled at Leo's weird action. "What year were you born? Even my parents weren't born when people knocked on the door."
"Little did you know," Leo said to himself.
He was amazed at how calm the girl was even when it was obvious that they are going to get punished by Hunter Man. Well, if she identified herself as a Morningbolt, her family influence might set her free or reduce her sentence but the same couldn't be said for Leo.
And also, Hunter had already told him to come meet him in his office after he finished his test back at the arena. Now, he has two issues to settle with Hunter Man and he clearly does not have any idea what to do about it.
They walked to the front desk where they met Mr. Al reading a large book with his eyes closed. They didn't know if to interrupt his reading as he appeared very focused even when they didn't have any idea how he was reading the book with closed eyes.
"Will you just stand there and watch me read? What do you want?" Al asked without opening his eyes.
"We are here for Hunter," Rosa said with a clear voice.
"Of course, you trouble mongers," the wrinkled man said. "Go down the hall and seek the 6th room. And please knock before you enter."
They left Mr. Al with his eyes will closed. Leo wondered what his quirk really was. Also, he couldn't shake off the feeling that the man's action towards him has changed ever since his performance at the arena. Before, he had treated Leo with respect when he learnt that it was Loca that referred him but that must have changed when he saw that Leo wasn't as strong as he expected from someone recommended by Loca.
"Earthlings are so fake," Leo said to himself.
After a short search, they both found the door of the sixth office.
"Guess Hunter Man was born many years before your parents," Leo joked as he knocked on the door gently.
"I don't know why anybody has to go through the trouble of knocking," Rosa complained.
The brown sleek door opened with a soft click. Rosa stepped in first while Leo went in her wake.
Hunter Man was pacing back and forth in his office when they got in. As soon as he saw them, his eyes instantly started glowing a deep blue as he walked angrily straight at Leo. With a slight but powerful wave, he shoved Rosalie out of the way and rushed over to Leo.
A thick arm swung out and grabbed Leo, pinning him to the wall.
"What do you think you're doing, boy?" Hunter Man growled, more furious than ever.
