Chapter 28: Facing the Horde (Part 1)
Meanwhile, back at the gym....
Darian stared at Zayden's back as he ran into the sea of nulls. He shook his head slightly and focused on the nulls in front of him. With his two axes in hand, he stood with his back against the gym door, facing the sea of nulls. His height of almost two meters made him look like a towering wall.
A red aura spread around his axe. He swung his axe down, and an arc of red energy came out, killing about ten nulls in one go. Multiple system messages assaulted his ears, but he chose to ignore them for now.
These nulls were like cannon fodder, sent to wear them down. But if there was one thing that Darian didn't lack, that was stamina. So, dealing with these nulls was not a problem for him. He, along with the rest of the evolved team members, began killing off nulls.
He was eating into the horde when he finally came across his first roadblock. He didn't know how, but he could feel the aura from some of the nulls in the distance. Their auras weren't restrained and shot into the air like beams.
The numbers reached about five, and Darian finally met one of them.
The one in front of him was big, even though not as big as he was; it was big. Its body was muscular with a whole lot of cracks on it, glowing a fierce red color, its eyes the same thing, with veins running along the side of its eyes up to its bald head.
On his right hand was what looked like a gauntlet made out of molten magma. He was wearing a chest piece made out of molten rocks and some knee pads made out of the same thing.
It looked more like a mindless brawler.
[Level 17 Withered Magma Null]
Due to his evolution, the life force coming off Darian was spilling into the atmosphere, and its scent was calling all the nulls to him. So without wasting any time, the null swung its arm at Darian, its magma-covered hands clenched into a fist.
'Fast,' Darin thought.
He jumped back quickly, dodging the attack from the null. The null was unbalanced as Darian swung down his axe towards the neck of the null, but to his surprise, the chest piece it was wearing morphed slightly to cover its neck.
Darian was surprised, but there was no turning back now. His axe landed on the neck of the null. The sound of metal crashing against metal resounded as his axe bounced back. It was like the null knew to take advantage of this and swung its fist towards Darian's ribs.
Darian didn't have enough time to dodge or block, so he could only take the attack.
The fist landed on his ribs, and a cracking sound resounded as Darian was sent crashing into the doors of the gym. Fortunately, the door was sturdy enough so it held up even under the weight of his crash.
Darian coughed up a mouthful of blood, sharp pain of his broken ribs piercing into his lungs hit him all at once. But he had to fight through it.
He quickly jumped up and threw his axe at the head of the null. The magma null swerved to the right, dodging the attack, and was already in front of Darian. Once again, it swung its magma-covered fists at Darian, but this time, Darian was prepared.
'Bullish Charge'
His eyes glowed red as the red aura surrounding his axe spread onto his whole body. With his axe in his hand, Darian parried the attack of the magma null, quickly ducking as he dodged the swing of the null.
And just like that, Darian and the magma nulls started exchanging punches. The punches were so fast that it was hard for normal humans to see. But for those who could see, they would know that Darian was on the back foot.
Before long, he was punched into the air, and the magma null rushed after him, with a speed that was hard to see. Darian was punched so hard that he crashed into the ground, forming a small crater where he landed.
The magma null landed on the ground, and Darian could swear that he saw a slight smirk on the face of the null. And the sight of that made him angry, so angry that even he was surprised.
"Never thought that I would use this," Darian sighed.
It was so fast, the null was unable to see, and Darian brought out a vial of red liquid and downed it in one gulp. That was one of the rewards that he got from the system just before his evolution back at the make dorm.
[Bloodline of Taurus]
[Grade: ???]
[Description: Blood that contains fifty percent of the bloodline of the heavenly bull Taurus]
At first, nothing happened until suddenly, a fierce red aura shot out from Darian's body into the sky as he started convulsing.

At this point, Darian's eyes suddenly glowed a bright red color as he found himself in a different plane. His body was in some kind of ethereal form, looking down on what looked like a battlefield with two sides fighting against each other.
What was weird was that neither side had any sort of formation whatsoever; they were both fighting to kill without any care for their side or any injuries that they may have received.
Seeing this scene, Darian couldn't help but frown slightly.
"This is just mayhem," he said, and he was immediately pulled out of that plane.

At this point, his convulsions stopped, but the red aura that was coming out of his body became stronger, and slight changes were happening to his body.
For one, two very long curved horns grew out from his red head. His already bulky body became bulkier, and he became a whole lot taller. But the most noticeable change was the fact that his leg changed, becoming the muscular and hairy legs of a bull.
Darian didn't know it, but not just one, but two more stars on his back lit up a bright silver color.
Now, one might think, why didn't he just use the skill he used when fighting the other hen?
Well, for one, it wasn't too long ago that they fought the mother hen, and the skill he used had a cool-down timer, and he couldn't use it right now.
Nobody was expecting the sudden quest, so he had to use the blood as a last resort.
Darian didn't know why, but he could feel a whole lot of power entering his body. He stood up slowly and looked at the magma null in front of him, with the gaze of a predator.
The magma null was shaking from fear, primal fear. It was about to turn around and start running until it heard Darian's voice in its head.
'Mayhem Domain'
Spreading out of his body, some kind of red dome covered everything within a hundred-foot radius. All the nulls turned around their gazes, landing on Darian.
What was weird was that all their eyes had a deep red color, and they seemed to have thrown all their rationality to the wind, that was if they had any previously.
But what was more weird was that the ever indifferent Darian had a mocking smile on his face as if daring them to come and attack him.
And attack him they did.
The almost fifty nulls in the hundred-foot radius of Darian rush towards him like moths to a flame, knowing that they would die, but still doing it anyway.
Darian pulled his fist back slowly and, just as slowly, released it, connecting with the null closest to him. The punch connected, and there was a pause for a split moment until the sound of the punch finally caught up.
There was a shockwave that took with it a row of about fifteen nulls.
But even seeing that display of power, the nulls didn't stop. They kept charging at Darian, and like the flies that they were, Darian kept killing them with one punch until only the magma null remained.
"I've been waiting for you," Darian said in a deep voice.
This time, he didn't wait for the magma null to come to him; instead, he charged at the magma null, appearing in front of it in the blink of an eye.
He threw out a punch, controlling it so well. The punch connected with the face of the null, and following it was a shockwave, but the null didn't die. Even though its head was caved in, it wasn't dead.
Darian smiled sadistically and threw it onto the ground. He landed on the body of the null and started punching away.
With every punch was a shockwave, and with every shockwave was a crack in the ground.
Shockwaves started echoing in the surrounding and before long, a crater formed underneath Darian and the null, but surprisingly, the null still wasn't dead. Darian had immaculate control over his strength to the point that he could unleash the highest amount of pain without killing someone.
Darian exhaled a hot breath and stepped on the head of the null very softly. The head of the null burst into a shower of blood and brain matter as Darian's size reduced, and the domain recessed.
"That was amazing," Daria said as his vision became blurry.
He fell unconscious and was about to land on the ground when a flash of silver appeared, and a girl with silver hair appeared, catching him before he fell.
"He most definitely is my type," She said with a smile on her face.
