Starbound Awakening

Chapter 29: Facing the Horde (Part 2)

At the same time all this was happening, right in the heart of the horde, Tyrel and the rest of the group were facing their opponents.

In front of the group were four high-class nulls.

One of the nulls had a body that was crackling with golden lightning; its whole body was charred from what looked like a lightning strike. It was bald, and glowing veins of gold could be seen on its body.

Along with it was a female null with hair that seemed to be made out of multiple blades; it had long, sickle-like blades for hands and blades sticking out of the rest of its body.

Next to it was another null. Of all the nulls, this null looked the most normal. It was still wearing casual clothes, and the only way for one to know that it was a null was the fact that its eyes were white, like cloudy white.

The final null seemed to be a girl who was bathed in venom, snake venom. Its hair was a deep green color, and on its arms seemed to be what looked like gauntlets made from green liquid and snake-like fangs coming out of its upper teeth.

There were seven of them here, and only four nulls. This meant that one person would have to face a null all by themselves, and Tyrel had no problem doing this.

Without waiting for confirmation from the rest of the team, Tyrel already charged at the lightning null.

"Flash"

The null had no time to react as Tyrel already appeared in front of it. With his fist covered in lightning, Tyrel punched the null, sending it flying into the air. He aimed his submachine gun at the null and shot out a barrage of attacks. Multiple explosions rang out in the air.

At this point, Tyrel was already in the middle of the four high-levelled nulls, and they were only an arm's length away from attacking him. But Tyrel did nothing to protect himself, only focusing on the lightning null in the air.

The blade null took advantage of this and lunged at Tyrel, the blades in its hand extending out. It was a few inches from Tyrel's face when a long sword covered in golden energy intercepted it, pushing it back a few feet.

Valeria swung out with her sword once again, releasing a golden arc that flew at the blade null at unimaginable speeds. But the blade null managed to bring up its blades in time to block the attack.

But it had no time to rest as sharp blades like feathers, amounting to about five, appeared in front of it, attacking it. While it was struggling to block the attack, Aiden appeared in front of him with an extra-long feather that had a sharp blade-like edge.

The venom null swung out her hand, aiming for Tyrel, who was an arm's length away. But before the attack could land on him, a slab of ice with a rune around it intercepted the attack, melting the slab of ice.

At this point, Tyrel jumped into the air, appearing in front of the null. His fist was still covered in lightning, and he punched the null, sending it crashing towards the ground in another part of the horde.

While still in the air, Tyrel stretched out his hand, and what looked like a jagged lance formed out of golden lightning appeared in his hand. He pulled his hand back, the veins in his arm bulging, then he threw the lance out, with power that was almost impossible for normal humans to fathom.

The lance broke through the sound barrier and appeared in front of the lightning null in the blink of an eye. It crashed into it, forming a large crater, the shockwave killing all of the nulls in the vicinity.

Tyrel landed in the crater and was shocked. The lightning null was unfazed. There was what looked like armor made out of golden lightning around its body, with clawed gauntlets and a long sword formed of lightning.

The null swung out its sword immediately Tyrel landed on the ground. Due to the debris and dust, Tyrel had no way to see the attack of the null, so immediately after he saw the uninjured null, the next thing he could see was a golden sword heading towards his neck.

There was no time to dodge the attack, so all Tyrel could do was to raise his submachine gun while he covered himself with a coat of lightning.

The sword of the lightning null cut through Tyrel's submachine gun like a hot knife through butter, only meeting some resistance when it came in contact with Tyrel's body. It still managed to draw some blood, sending Tyrel crashing into one of the walls.

Tyrel coughed up some blood as he slowly stood up, a ghastly wound horizontally along his chest. But he didn't even have time to get his bearings when the null appeared in front of him again.

This time, the sword of the null made contact with Tyrel, sending him flying into the air, a stream of blood coming out of his wound.

As if by coincidence, the blood landed on the lightning null. The lightning null licked some of the blood off its hand as a wide grin appeared on its face.

It was barely noticeable, but there was a slight increase in the strength of the null, even the aura that it was giving off increased by a small margin.

The null, with newfound conviction, jumped into the air, with so much force that a crater was formed on the ground where it was standing. In a split moment, it was in front of Tyrel once again, but this time, things had changed.

Tyrel raised his arm a little, with his palm facing the lightning null. From his hand, what looked like a snake made entirely out of lightning came out. It had a length of about five feet.

[Snake Lightning]

The null was surprised, but it still had some time to react. It swung its sword, hoping to deflect the attack, but to its surprise, the lightning snake coiled around its sword, snaking towards its body.

This time, the null was too surprised and had no time to react as the four-foot-long snake coiled around its body, holding it in a tight grip, so strong that the null was unable to move an inch.

Gravity finally started doing its job as the null started falling towards the ground with Tyrel following after him. Sparks of lightning coiled around his arm, going towards his fist, growing larger and larger as they advanced.

By the time they reached Tyrel's fist, they formed two large shark heads, with open maws.

[Lightning Shark Gauntlets]

Tyrel kicked against the air and fell faster, appearing in front of the null very quickly. Without suspense, he started punching the wall. The punches were so fast that by the time the null crashed into the ground, it had already taken no less than twenty hits to the face.

It landed on the ground, forming a large crater, killing off a few more nulls thanks to the shockwaves, marks of what looked like bite marks marring every corner of its bloodied face, and sparks of lightning here and there.

But Tyrel wasn't done.

He landed on the null, increasing the depth of the crater, and started punching away, each punch backed by the skill double effect. So each one of his punches would his the null twice, and twice as strong as the previous one.

Each punch increased the depth of the crater, but Tyrel still wasn't done.

He jumped into the air, spreading his arms out. Almost everyone in the field of nulls could see him.

'I've always wanted to do this,' Tyrel thought.

With his arms spread out, he activated the strongest skill in his arsenal.

Clouds started gathering above the area of the null horde, and before long, the booms of thunder echoed. Lightning flashes could be seen everywhere, and before long, they came together to form the face of a long-bearded old man with brows creased in fury.

It was just for a brief moment, but everyone could see it.

The lightning came together, compressing and compressing until a ping-pong-sized glowing ball of energy was floating above Tyrel's hand. Most people were not around, but they could feel the power in that small ball of energy.

[Zeus's Anger]

Tyrel dropped the ball, it floated to the ground, and slowly landed on the body of the null.

AS it touched the body of the null, there was a stillness. The kind of stillness that someone would feel and know that something serious was about to happen. It was for a brief moment, but almost everybody could feel it.

"BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!"

A beam of energy about twelve feet in radius shot into the air, incinerating anything that it touched. The sound barrier of the planet broken many times over.

The beam dispersed into a mushroom cloud before slowly disappearing.

This was the kind of thing that only a missile would be able to do, but Tyrel just did that on a whim.

Tyrel slowly floated to the ground, smirking at the faces the rest of the team was giving him.

He floated to the area where the lightning null was, but there was no sign that the null was here, apart from the large crater.

Tyrel was about to walk away when he saw something from the corner of his eye. It was inconspicuous and almost unnoticeable, but it was there.

It was a small orb with a swirling mass of purple in it. It looked mysterious, coupled with the fact that it was the only thing from the null that survived.

Tyrel decided to keep it. He turned around to see the rest of the group giving him weird faces.

"Don't stare at me, the horde isn't getting any smaller," Tyrel said
