Starting to Gain Experience from Push-Ups

Chapter 319

The rainy night of dawn.

Like a deluge of dark ink, soaking the entire world.

Two beams of light struggled to pierce through the darkness, drawing near from afar.

A white refrigerated truck bumbled along the muddy dirt road amidst the downpour.

The wheels constantly rolled over puddles, splashing high plumes of mud.

Finally, it came to a stop outside a slightly outdated slaughterhouse.

This place belonged to a suburban village, surrounded by some farmland and scattered houses, without even a streetlamp.

Almost as soon as the truck engine shut off, a barrage of barking erupted within the slaughterhouse, instantly shattering the surrounding silence.

The sound didn't resemble the alert of ordinary house dogs to a threat from a visitor.

But rather like domesticated wild beasts, full of repressed excitement and bloodthirsty longing, piercing through the rain, drifting into the ears, sounding especially eerie.

The truck door opened, and a man in dark workwear jumped down.

The torrential rain instantly soaked his hair, sliding down his cheeks.

His appearance was plain and unremarkable, but those eyes occasionally shimmering in the dim light carried a chilling demeanor.

The driver quickly walked to the back of the vehicle, his arm muscles bulging, and pulled open the heavy refrigerated door.

In the compartment, several mottled-colored wolf dogs huddled in a corner, vigilantly watching the downpour outside, emitting low growls from their throats.

And beside them, a human-shaped figure wrapped in black plastic lay conspicuously.

The outline was stiff, evidently long since devoid of life.

Two team members in black tactical gear were squatting at the other end of the compartment, trying to avoid the cold wind and rain pouring in through the door cracks, with a hint of fatigue on their faces.

"Captain."

Seeing the man appear, the two immediately stood upright and greeted him.

The man addressed as Captain was none other than a senior officer of the Noah Organization, Chen Rui.

He merely nodded expressionlessly, his gaze sweeping across the interior of the compartment without any extra words.

One team member immediately untied the ropes around the wolf dogs' necks, letting them off the vehicle.

The other team member frowned, picking up the corpse wrapped in plastic.

The three of them, with Chen Rui at the front, jumped down from the compartment, stepping into the muddy puddles one foot deep, one foot shallow, and walked toward the tightly closed iron gate of the slaughterhouse.

The rain pounded on their bodies, soon soaking through their clothes.

The barking of the dogs, the clattering sounds of chains dragging on the ground, continuously echoed.

In this silent rainy night, it seemed extraordinarily piercing.

Chen Rui took out a set of keys from his pocket and inserted them into the lock of the iron gate.

"Click," a heavy iron gate was pulled open a crack.

Whoosh—

An indescribable stench, mixed with cold air, rushed out.

Then, a bizarre scene unfolded.

The originally tumultuous barking within the gate abruptly ceased the moment the door was opened.

Peering through the gap in the door towards the inside.

In the darkness, pairs of eyes glinting with green light stared intently at the uninvited guests outside.

The two team members instinctively swallowed a gulp of saliva.

Even though this wasn't their first time at this place, they still felt a tingling sensation at the animals maintained by the Captain.

Chen Rui, his expression unchanged, stepped inside first.

Click.

The old fluorescent lamp inside the slaughterhouse flickered a few times, and finally lit up, emitting a ghastly and flickering glow.

The scene before their eyes was enough to challenge anyone's nerves.

Numerous rusted iron hooks dangled from the ceiling, some still hanging with what seemed like sun-dried, firewood-like dark flesh chunks of indistinguishable animals.

The ground was rough cement, pockmarked with pits, covered with dark red stains that had long since solidified and blackened, exuding an unrelenting stench of blood and decay.

Around the area were various slaughtering devices and a gigantic stainless-steel boiler.

More notably, on the west side of the slaughterhouse, a group of fierce dogs of various forms were tied with chains as thick as a baby's arm.

Dogo, Pitbull, Rottweiler, Caucasian...

All were notorious for being fierce, aggressive, and even cruel large vicious dogs.

Moreover, their body sizes were far larger and more ferocious than ordinary vicious dogs, muscles brimming with primal wildness.

However, when Chen Rui walked in, these usually unmanageable beasts quietly lay on the ground, not daring to let out even a low growl.

They merely sniffed the air, their heavy breathing echoing in the empty slaughterhouse, forming a strange background noise.

"A-Jie, Stone."

Chen Rui's indifferent voice rang out, commanding:

"Clean everything up, then find any room for yourselves to rest for a night, wait for my notice in the morning."

"Yes, Captain!"

The two team members promptly replied, not daring to slacken even a bit.

They carefully laid the plastic-wrapped body on a stainless steel dissection table stained with dark red blood.

Then, they suppressed their stomach discomfort, turned to the corner to search for a high-pressure water gun, disinfectant, and rubber gloves.

Even though they were Chen Rui's trusted subordinates, they still felt a deep fear of this place and some of the Captain's "special hobbies".

They quickly donned raincoats, picked up tools, and returned to the open air, starting to clean the white refrigerated truck thoroughly.

Water columns sprayed from the high-pressure water gun, washing the interior walls and chassis of the compartment, erasing all the suspicious traces.

The latter half of the night's rain continued to pour heavily.

This place was far removed from the city center,

all around was only the howling of wind and rain, trees blown into eerie "whoosh" sounds, like wailing ghosts and howling wolves.
