Chapter 859: Moonlit Night Pursuit
"Even so, we must catch him." Luo Zheng refused without hesitation. It wasn't that he didn't understand the gravity of the situation or cared about the lives of Mrs. Liu and her daughter. Rather, he believed in Lan Xue's command abilities, which, although generally understated, were no less than his own. She deliberately maintained a low profile, allowing him to take charge. Luo Zheng also believed that the brothers left to guard could handle themselves.
Ghost Hand, Snow Leopard, and Mountain Eagle swiftly moved to the living room, their eyes intensely focused on Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng nodded, and the team dashed outside, pretending to stagger as if poisoned, running towards the front door in a state of panic and lack of control. Hong Meihua, hiding in a room nearby, saw this and couldn't help but laugh, saying to Lan Xue, "They're quite quick-witted and coordinate seamlessly."
"Of course," Lan Xue replied proudly, fully confident in her comrades.
The four rushed through the giant iron gate, got into a car, and Luo Zheng intentionally drove in a swaying manner to feign loss of control due to poisoning. Whether they could deceive the enemy lurking in the shadows was uncertain, but to catch Charlie, they had to try. After racing out of the villa area, the car pulled over, and Luo Zheng quickly asked via earpiece, "What's the target's location?"
"He should be in the green grove to your left," Lan Xing responded urgently.
After getting out of the car, they sprinted towards the grove. With his pistol drawn, Luo Zheng whispered, "Spread out and surround." They had left the affluent community, and the enemies there couldn't see the outside situation, so there was no need to continue the act.
They rushed into the grove in one go, and suddenly, a faint gunshot echoed. Luo Zheng immediately felt his hair stand on end; it was a silenced pistol. An overwhelming sense of danger washed over him. Before his brain could react, a heavy impact slammed into his body, sharp and threatening to tear through flesh, overwhelming pain flooded his mind, causing him to stiffen and halt.
In the chaos, Luo Zheng realized he had been shot. His body went limp, falling against a nearby tree, and he shouted through the earpiece, "Have you found the enemy? Don't worry about me, I'm fine! Press forward." After saying this, Luo Zheng quickly checked the wound, finding a bullet lodged in him, though his body armor had stopped it. He let out a sigh of relief and continued, "That bastard must be Charlie. He fired without warning; be careful, everyone."
Upon hearing Luo Zheng sounding unaffected, the team breathed a sigh of relief and continued the pursuit. Luo Zheng quickly got up, running while rubbing the bullet wound on his chest, furious and determined to catch Charlie. His pace quickened and soon he spotted a black shadow, fleeing anxiously with incredible speed.
"Bastard," Luo Zheng cursed, firing repeatedly at the black shadow, forcing it to dodge left and right, slowing its escape. Ghost Hand and the others quickly flanked from other angles, and upon sighting the target, they also began firing. This further slowed the enemy.
Before long, they closed in substantially, and Luo Zheng yelled, "Alternate fire cover, pin him down."
"Got it," everyone replied, promptly targeting different directions to compress the enemy into a smaller space. Luo Zheng saw the enemy hiding behind a tree, counter-attacking, and immediately smiled, shouting, "Mountain Eagle, provide cover fire with me; you two go in."
"Yes," they shouted in unison, charging forward with lethal intent. Luo Zheng and Mountain Eagle's gun skills were superb, locking onto the hidden Charlie, while Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard flanked from other positions.
The person behind the tree was pinned down by the precise fire of Luo Zheng and Mountain Eagle, unable to run and forced to respond while hiding. Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard charged, launching several point-blank shots at the target. Luo Zheng saw the body pause, then crouch down to continue fighting, feeling the heat of gunfire, cried out, "Charge and kill!"
"Kill!" Everyone followed Luo Zheng's order without hesitation, rushing from cover and charging directly at the enemy.
During the charge, Luo Zheng felt another bullet hit, but his bodysuit blocked it, the injury not fatal. He speculated that Ghost Hand and the others might also be hit and accelerated his pace, seeing the enemy suddenly charge from cover towards him in a counterattack, he smirked, quickening his steps.
Both moved at a speed nearly indistinguishable to the naked eye, creating elongated shadows in the dark, seemingly about to collide. The others had to cease firing and moved in. Luo Zheng, gritting his teeth, abandoned any technique, slightly angling his body with his shoulder forward, fiercely colliding directly into the enemy, using brute force to stop the advance, allowing the team to swarm for a win.
"Bang!" The enemy chose the same tactic as Luo Zheng, trying to crash through, carving a path to escape. The two collided brutally, causing Luo Zheng to feel as if hit by a speeding train, sending his body flying with a wave of intense pain, demonstrating formidable strength.
Thud! Luo Zheng landed heavily, his back first, dazzled by pain and dizzy. Ghost Hand and the others, seeing the enemy send this physically resilient comrade flying, noted how the enemy only paused momentarily, revealing their powerful strength. No one dared to be careless, enclosing the foe, grabbing their knives.
Three against one, concerns about face or honor mean nothing on the battlefield. Completing the mission is a soldier's duty. The enemy was too strong, prompting the three to team up, engaging in close combat. Having trained, fought, and played together, their coordination was exceptional, enhancing their combat efficacy.
Lying on the ground, Luo Zheng gradually recovered, observing the three struggling against the foe without getting the upper hand, signs of defeat appearing. He was shocked, recognizing the enemy's formidable prowess. Earlier, despite the encirclement, bullets hadn't hit the foe. Their melee skills were so high, no wonder they managed to escape Shadow's pursuit, indeed impressive.
Luo Zheng quickly rose, suddenly hearing gunfire from afar, suspecting the hidden enemies were launching an attack. Shaking his head, he retrieved some iron nails from a hidden belt, charging forward like an enraged Wolf King, roaring, "Brothers, defend; let me handle this."
Ghost Hand and the others, understanding, leaped away from the combat circle, leaving Charlie to Luo Zheng. They positioned themselves for opportunistic attacks. Luo Zheng dashed forward, throwing a hand, launching a dark flash through the night sky. He watched the enemy's evasive dodges before swiftly pelting more iron nails.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" The nails flew like bullets, only two or three meters apart, the enemy wary, continually dodging. Suddenly, they pushed off with force, lunging at Luo Zheng, their hands reaching out like tiger claws, intent on tearing everything apart, with a frightening momentum.
