Chapter 950: Destroy the Documents
The sniper was successful, and Luo Zheng was overjoyed. Instead of immediately searching for other targets, he kept a close eye on the fallen target. That was where the item he needed was located. As long as the item was there, whether the other survivors lived or died was irrelevant. Sam Country had suffered heavy losses in this battle, which avenged the brothers who died horribly.
At this moment, Luo Zheng noticed a shadow lunging towards the target, attempting to grab their backpack. Luo Zheng was furious and quickly aimed, decisively pulling the trigger, firing two shots immediately.
"Whoosh, whoosh!" Two sniper bullets went one after the other, attacking the target's left and right sides. If the opponent didn't move, the shots would miss, but Luo Zheng trusted these people's reflexes and danger awareness to detect being locked onto and sniped, and make instinctual reactions.
The reality matched Luo Zheng's expectations. The person moved as if they had eyes on their back, sharply dodging to the side, unknowingly right into the path of one of the sniper bullets. The bullet struck them head-on, sending their body flying fiercely, with a burst of blood splattering, terrifying under the moonlight.
"Hoo!" Successfully sniping again, Luo Zheng was thrilled. There was no time to celebrate as he saw two shadows rushing over again. Luo Zheng quickly realized they also wanted to take the item. After all the effort and the death of so many people, the Sam Country Special Forces didn't want to return empty-handed.
Of course, Luo Zheng wouldn't let them take the item. He quickly aimed and calmly pulled the trigger at one of them, firing two shots. Just as he was about to continue firing, through the sniper scope, Luo Zheng saw four terrifying shockwaves howling under the moonlight like Death God sneering, opening its bloody mouth, with a devouring momentum. He knew it was Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle making their move.
The two Sam Country Special Forces couldn't stand a chance against the combined efforts of three. Six sniper bullets practically sealed off all escape routes, leaving no space to dodge, instantly knocking them to the ground. Luo Zheng was jubilant. Looking around, there were no more Sam Country Special Forces, assuming Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle had dealt with them. He quickly said, "Hold on, don't move." As he spoke, Luo Zheng raised his binoculars.
Using the thermal imaging function of the binoculars, there was no place to hide on the Gobi Desert ahead. After searching, not seeing a living target, Luo Zheng finally sighed with relief, grabbed his gun, and shouted, "Go, let's check it out." With that, he dashed down the slope.
At this moment, Ghost Hand, along with Sarazi and others, had caught up. Seeing this scene excitedly, they joined in the rush. Luo Zheng and his team arrived at the Sam Country Special Forces' corpses. Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle shot the bodies again to ensure nothing went wrong, while Luo Zheng went to one of the corpses, flipped open the military pack, and found a document bag inside, quickly activating the camera function on his helmet, aiming it at the document bag. Through the earpiece, he said, "Quick, see if it's the item we're looking for."
"Understood." Lan Xing's voice resonated through the earpiece.
Seeing Luo Zheng had found the item, Lan Xue and others gathered around, keeping a vigilant watch on the surroundings, signaling Sarazi and others not to approach. Sarazi was clever enough to immediately order the team to halt, sit down and rest, preventing anyone from losing their head and doing something they shouldn't.
"The video has been sent for confirmation, and they say the document bag is fine. Open it and take a look inside," said Hong Meihua's voice.
Luo Zheng quickly opened the document bag, finding a metal box inside, square and flat, surprisingly with a combination lock. Hong Meihua provided the code, and Luo Zheng opened the metal box, revealing a black disc inside. Hong Meihua instructed, "Bring the camera closer to the disc."
"What's happening?" Luo Zheng asked, not understanding, but still moving closer.
"There are hidden patterns on it. The patterns act as the code, distinguishable only to those familiar with them," explained Hong Meihua. Luo Zheng acknowledged with an "oh" and, after a while, Hong Meihua continued, "Experts have confirmed it's precisely the item we were looking for. Destroy it immediately."
"How should I destroy it?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise.
"Just shoot it to pieces and then burn it. It must not fall into other hands. Record the entire destruction process on camera to reassure the authorities and prevent complications," Hong Meihua advised.
Luo Zheng was taken aback and smiled bitterly. After all the fighting, they finally got the item, only to destroy it on the spot. However, Luo Zheng understood the authorities' concerns about the item falling into others' hands or fearing betrayal by going to other countries. Reassured by these thoughts, he set the item on a rock and grabbed an AK-47, firing at the disc.
"Dada da!" Bullets charged with destructive force tore the disc to shreds.
Luo Zheng stopped shooting and glanced around. Sarazi and Gai Wafu had arrived, watching curiously with their troops. Nearby, trucks had parked, and Luo Zheng commanded, "Ghost Hand, gather anything flammable from these Sam Country Special Forces' backpacks, pour gasoline and light them up."
"Understood." Ghost Hand immediately searched through, pulled out a sleeping bag, ran to a truck, and shot at the bottom of the fuel tank, creating a hole. Gasoline started leaking into the sleeping bag. Once enough gasoline had filled it, Ghost Hand carried the sleeping bag over and tossed it onto the ground.
Luo Zheng signaled everyone to help collect the shattered disc pieces and throw them onto the sleeping bag, then set it alight. The sleeping bag caught fire, and the intense flames heated and deformed the shattered disc, thoroughly destroying it. The entire process was recorded until everything was completed.
"Alright, the mission is successfully completed. What are your plans now?" asked Hong Meihua.
"I will stay here for two days until the supplies arrive for them, to reassure them, hoping for future cooperation. We can then head to the border in two days and have helicopters pick us up," Luo Zheng responded.
"The supplies will arrive tomorrow afternoon. I hope you return soon. There's trouble brewing in Beijing. It's best if you come to take over. Your opponent seems as cunning as Charlie," Hong Meihua said urgently.
"Hmm?" Luo Zheng pondered for a moment and replied, "Alright, arrange for the supplies as quickly as possible. We'll leave as soon as they arrive. Otherwise, it's hard to explain." He then looked towards Sarazi and Gai Wafu not far away, waved for them to come over, lifted his head slightly to glimpse at the bright moon, breathing a sigh of relief.
The successful completion of the task was greatly due to Sarazi and Gai Wafu's help. Without their unconditional assistance and the armed force of over a thousand, the mission would have been impossible to accomplish. Luo Zheng felt obliged to justify himself to them before leaving. However, thinking that Charlie might be the one in Beijing, his previously calm eyes once again sharpened.
