Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 971: Throwing Knife Rescue

Luo Zheng, who had been rescued and awakened, lay in the water, his brain stimulated awake by the icy river, his heart aching sharply. He lay motionless, memories flooding in, consciousness restored. Luo Zheng instantly understood what had happened, staring at the ethereal mist above with a steely expression, his eyes blazing with immense anger. He hadn't expected to be ambushed; if it weren't for the Bullet-Resistant Vest and a tighter suit with even better bulletproof effects, he would surely be dead.

Thinking of this, Luo Zheng's anger intensified. His hands fumbled around, quickly finding the gun, which was submerged in water. He wasn't sure if it would affect shooting, and maintenance was out of the question now. Luo Zheng instinctively drew his Tiger Teeth knife, suddenly seeing a figure appear ahead, disappearing in a flash.

"Not good." Luo Zheng was shocked, fully awake, knowing the enemy was coming to check the situation. He forcibly dispelled the thought of getting up, continuing to lie in the water, playing dead. He placed the gun aside, his right hand gripping the Tiger Teeth knife, his eyes slightly closed, highly alert and ready for anything.

Soon, a head poked out again from behind a large rock, its eyes shining with ferocity, face twisted. With a quick dash forward a few meters, it pounced, disappearing behind another rock. Luo Zheng didn't know about Mountain Eagle and Lan Xue's situation; the ambush came too suddenly. Pondering that the enemy came to investigate, he suspected their situation was probably not good either, growing increasingly anxious.

On the battlefield, impatience is the greatest enemy. Luo Zheng took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, patiently waiting. He kept his slightly closed eyes locked on the direction where the enemy might appear. Soon, Luo Zheng saw a person swaggering up, not concealing their figure at all, wearing a confident expression, the cold barrel of the gun aimed.

Luo Zheng knew the opponent saw him, and not shooting meant they believed he was already dead. Luo Zheng didn't want to miss such a perfect opportunity. Closing his eyes into a tiny slit, he gazed at the opponent with deliberate nonchalance, internalizing his murderous intent, waiting with concentration. Being able to shoot without warning and succeed in a silent ambush indicated the opponent was a master, and Luo Zheng didn't dare to be careless.

The opponent indeed saw Luo Zheng, very much wanting to fire a finishing shot but spotted Lan Xue providing emergency aid to Mountain Eagle. The opponent, in anxious caution, saw Lan Xue hadn't noticed him and was delighted. He quickly aimed his gun at Lan Xue, preparing to ambush her.

Seeing the opponent aiming behind him, Luo Zheng realized it was towards Mountain Eagle. Without any hesitation, he shouted explosively and hurled the Tiger Teeth knife he had been gripping, slicing through the Void like a flash of lightning.

The distance between enemy and friend was no more than five meters, a distance with no difficulty for Luo Zheng, master of the Life-taking Nails. Hearing a whoosh, a dark streak struck the opponent's throat like a venomous snake, sinking up to the hilt — such immense power fueled by concern for Mountain Eagle's safety and deep-seated resentment.

The opponent looked in disbelief toward where Luo Zheng was, the gun slipping powerlessly, his sinister gaze gradually turning distant, filled with confusion, incomprehension, and reluctance. His body fell backward stiffly, dying with his eyes open. Seeing his success, Luo Zheng exhaled deeply, trying to lift himself but finding his strength completely gone. Startled, he shouted anxiously, "Xue Er, Mountain Eagle, how are you?"

Hearing Luo Zheng's shout when he attacked, Lan Xue, who was performing emergency resuscitation on Mountain Eagle, became alert. Her pressing on Mountain Eagle's chest instinctively increased in strength. Turning her head quickly, she saw the adversary's body fall, a military dagger at the throat, realizing something. Just then, Luo Zheng's urgent inquiry came, prompting Lan Xue to respond quickly, "I'm fine, how about you?"

"I'm okay but can't get up, the rest is up to you." Hearing Lan Xue was fine, Luo Zheng sighed in relief; with Lan Xue there, the remaining two enemies posed no considerable threat, at least not to survival. Deciding to remain motionless in the water, where the stone-filled water wasn't deep enough to submerge his head, impacting breathing wasn't a concern.

Just then, with Lan Xue suddenly increasing the pressure during resuscitation, Mountain Eagle's heart started beating again, slowly waking up. Seeing Lan Xue's concerned expression, he was momentarily stunned. Memories flooded in, bringing sharp pain to his head, involuntarily crying out. As Lan Xue prepared to perform artificial respiration again, she heard the cry of Mountain Eagle, becoming overjoyed and asking, "Are you okay?"

Mountain Eagle's consciousness hadn't fully returned, feeling dizzy, hearing Lan Xue's question but lacking the strength to respond. Lan Xue quickly checked Mountain Eagle's pupils and heartbeat, confirming he was alright, then secretly sighed in relief. Dragging Mountain Eagle to a sloped rock, she quickly picked up his sniper rifle, saying, "Rest for now; I'll handle the rest. Don't worry, I'll avenge you." Her face cold as stone, emanating a terrifying killing intent.

Lan Xue crouched, swiftly crawling to Luo Zheng's side, finding him motionless in the water. She quickly dragged him to the sloped rock beside, lowering her voice with concern, "Are you okay?"

"Don't worry, I won't die, can hold on a little longer. Probably worsening from the cold, limbs weak, head throbbing; the rest is up to you. Contact the outside as soon as possible," Luo Zheng said with difficulty.

"Understood," Lan Xue replied, crawling a bit forward, hiding among scattered rocks, firing into the sky, realizing the gun failed to fire, startled. Drawing her pistol submerged in water, firing a few times skyward without success.

Realizing the guns malfunctioned, Lan Xue's expression changed drastically. Seeing this, Luo Zheng also looked bitter, shouting with all his strength, "Quick, repair them, I'll watch out for you."

Disassembling, wiping, applying gun oil, and reassembling the weapons was a process Lan Xue could complete in three minutes, but with the enemy nearby, she wasn't certain she had three minutes, hesitating. Seeing Luo Zheng's pale face, knowing she couldn't delay, decided to risk it, swiftly disassembling her pistol.

The pistol, having fewer parts than the sniper rifle, was easier to dismantle and maintain, taking less time. While adeptly dismantling the gun, Lan Xue kept a worried eye on Luo Zheng, suddenly noticing his expression change, feeling danger creeping in. She instinctively drew her Tiger Teeth knife.

"Come out, I know you're hiding here," a voice suddenly barked coldly.

"Huh?" Lan Xue pricked up her ears in doubt, the enemy's call indicating she hadn't been exposed, something to leverage. Her worried heart calmed, casting a concerned glance at Luo Zheng, realizing he was fixated on a direction beside her, understanding immediately. She cautiously crawled in the opposite direction to find cover, reverse-gripping the Tiger Teeth knife — for a formidable soldier, it was also a deadly weapon.
