Su Yi, The Pokemon(?) Master (Pokemon X Monster Hunter Fanfic)

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Dual Signature Moves – The Ultimate Rend

After a simple meal, Su Yi turned his gaze toward Odogaron.

It lay there peacefully, its breathing slow and steady—completely lost in sleep.

Su Yi couldn't help but marvel.

The power of Pokémon was truly incredible.

If it were an ordinary monster, wounds this severe would take at least ten days to half a month to begin healing.

Yet Odogaron, now infused with Pokémon energy, had recovered from the brink of death in less than a day—thanks to a single Revive and some healing medicine.

It could even move around slightly already.

Su Yi estimated that in less than two weeks, Odogaron would fully recover.

"But after that… the expenses are going to be a problem."

Su Yi sighed as he glanced at the pile of empty medicine bottles on the ground.

The wounds inflicted by monsters were far too severe.

Pokémon healing sprays, meant for standard-sized creatures, took multiple bottles just to cover their injuries.

The dozen or so healing potions Su Yi had bought were completely used up—just treating the wounds of his four Pokémon companions.

"It hasn't even been a week since I last stocked up at the Armor Island outpost, and I'm already running out. And I don't have much money left…"

"Am I going to have to scavenge for trash on Armor Island?"

Su Yi rubbed his chin, considering his options.

"Or maybe I could sell some of the ores from Monster Hunter World?"

He pondered for a moment—then immediately dismissed the idea.

"No, those are for crafting armor for Rucao. Besides, who knows if people in the Pokémon world would even recognize those ores?"

It seemed like scavenging for discarded items was the only way.

"I wonder if Scoutflies could help me find Pokémon world materials and items?"

Su Yi's mind started wandering into wild ideas.

...

Inside the tent, Su Yi turned on his flashlight and opened his Golden Finger system: [Hunting Guide].

Now that Odogaron had been captured, one of his [Tasks] had been completed.

As a reward, he received:

✔ 8 High-Rank Balls

✔ 2 Trap Tools

✔ 3 Monster Materials

[High-Rank Ball: A more advanced capture ball, capable of catching stronger monsters.]

"This is basically equivalent to a Great Ball, huh?"

Su Yi took out a High-Rank Ball, comparing it to the Poké Ball system.

Sure enough, it looked exactly like a Great Ball, which was just one tier above a standard Poké Ball.

Updated Capture Ball Inventory

5 Poké Balls

8 High-Rank Balls

This finally alleviated Su Yi's shortage of capture balls.

"I need to be careful with these special capture balls."

Unlike Poké Balls, which could only capture Pokémon, the Golden Finger's capture balls could capture both monsters and Pokémon.

This was because, before being captured, monsters lacked the unique essence and power of Pokémon—which made them immune to normal Poké Balls.

However, the Golden Finger's capture balls not only allowed Su Yi to capture monsters, but also bestowed them with the intelligence and special abilities of Pokémon.

This made them extremely valuable.

Next, Su Yi checked his rewarded monster materials.

✔ Odogaron Claw

✔ Odogaron Scale

✔ Odogaron Fang

"Looks like Luchao is getting a full Odogaron armor set!"

Su Yi examined the materials carefully.

The Odogaron Claw was a razor-sharp talon, with grooved edges that shimmered with a cold, deadly gleam.

The Odogaron Scale was a large, deep crimson plate, its texture dense and sturdy.

The Odogaron Fang was its largest canine tooth, sharp and menacing.

Su Yi was very satisfied with the loot from this mission.

But of course, the greatest prize was—

Successfully capturing Odogaron.

[Name: Odogaron]

Species: Odogaron (Male)

Type: Dragon, Fighting

Ability: Rending Claw (Claw-based attacks have a chance to inflict the Laceration status. A target in Laceration takes damage whenever making a significant movement. Additionally, when attacked by the ability holder, the target suffers 2–5 extra Laceration hits. If the target remains motionless for 8 seconds, the status is removed.)

Moveset:

Laceration Claw (Signature Move – Power: 85, Fighting-type, Physical. Inflicts Laceration. If the target is already in this state, the move deals 4–10 Laceration hits instead of the usual amount.)

Frenzied Surge (Signature Move – Fighting-type, Status Move. Boosts Attack and Speed by two stages for three minutes. Once the effect ends, all stat boosts are removed, and the user enters a fatigued state, lowering Defense by two stages.)

Bite

Dragon Claw

Tearing Claw

Iron Tail

This ferocious ability and its two devastating signature moves perfectly aligned with Odogaron's brutal, shredding combat style.

"Odogaron has gained a whole new level of power—it's fundamentally stronger now," Su Yi remarked in awe.

It was like how, in the Pokémon world, some Pokémon became significantly stronger after gaining a new ability or move.

Now that Odogaron had Pokémon-like power, it had fully unlocked the potential of its savage claws.

Once Odogaron's injuries were fully healed, it would instantly become the strongest member of the team.

Su Yi flipped to the [Ecology Report] page.

His previously captured Great Girros was 1,128 cm (11.28 m) long, while Odogaron was even larger—reaching 1,480 cm (14.8 m).

It wasn't a record-breaking size, but it was still massive and intimidating.

As time passed and Odogaron's wounds improved, its initial hostility toward Su Yi also diminished.

Eventually, it fully accepted him and entered the Capture Ball without resistance.

...

"Time to head back. Before I return again, I need to make proper preparations."

Every expedition revealed new weaknesses, and Su Yi not only needed to patch those flaws but also plan ahead.

As he stepped back into the Pokémon world, Su Yi was finally greeted by sunlight.

Spreading his arms wide, he stretched his body—instantly dispelling the oppressive gloom of the Rotten Vale.

"First, I should check in at the dojo and let them know I'm safe."

Su Yi wasn't sure how long he had spent in the Rotten Vale, but he estimated it had been at least four to five days.

Now familiar with the route, Su Yi navigated his way effortlessly back to the dojo.

"I'm back, safe and sound!" Su Yi called out as he stepped into the hall.

"Hmm? Su Yi! You've been gone for seven days! I thought something happened to you!"

Aunt Honey let out a sigh of relief upon seeing him.

"Sorry, sorry! There were some unexpected events, but everything turned out well in the end," Su Yi apologized, seeing her concern.

"Su Yi, adventuring is an exciting way to train, but you must also balance it with rest and safety," Master Mustard said as he walked in from the other room.

Feeling their genuine concern, Su Yi smiled and said,

"Thanks for worrying about me! Since I've returned safe and sound—with great rewards—it's time for a celebration!"

"Honestly…"

Hearing his casual attitude, Master Mustard and Miye shook their heads with amused exasperation.

...

"I'm back—huh? What's smelling so good?"

As Bea entered the dojo, the mouthwatering aroma hit her immediately.

After a full day of training, her hunger surged in response.

"Perfect timing, Bea! Come taste my cooking!"

"Good food should be shared, nya!"

Rucao cheerfully placed the final dish onto the table.

Glazed, golden-brown roasted meat

Fragrant tomato scrambled eggs

Steaming hot creamy stew

Cheesy, golden-baked mashed potatoes

Just looking at the food made everyone's appetite soar.

Bea swallowed hard, staring at the feast in astonishment.

"Su Yi… did you cook all of this?!"

Removing his apron, Su Yi grinned.

"I hope it's to your liking!"
