"Not good! Princess Koyuki is gone again!"
Naruto was lying on the bed with his hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling. Despite the room being closed, snowflakes drifted lazily through the air. This was no ordinary snow—it was a light snowfall created by Naruto's chakra.
The snowflakes fell from the ceiling, dancing like willow catches riding the wind before vanishing into thin air. It was a beautiful sight.
Thanks to Kakashi's guidance, Naruto's control over water-based chakra had improved significantly. However, there was still a noticeable gap between his mastery of water and wind attributes, especially when it came to applying them effectively in battle.
At that moment, Naruto was feeling restless. The commotion outside only added to his frustration, making it hard to focus.
He sighed, staring at the ceiling. "This princess is really something…"
The weather outside was terrible. A fierce blizzard raged, forcing everyone to stay indoors. Yet, despite the harsh conditions, the princess had managed to slip away.
Is she not afraid of freezing to death out there? Naruto thought, exasperated.
Still, as a ninja, he couldn't ignore his duty. Grumbling under his breath, he pushed open the door. A blast of icy wind and snowflakes slapped him in the face.
The Land of Snow was known for its freezing temperatures and dry air. The snow didn't melt immediately, which made it somewhat bearable. However, in weather like this, footprints were quickly covered by the wind and snow, making tracking a challenge. To find any traces, one had to dig through the surface snow to uncover the solid imprints beneath.
But some areas were covered in icy rocks, and the dry snow was easily blown away by the wind. It was a nightmare.
Naruto scanned the area, searching for any signs of Princess Koyuki's footprints.
Just then, Hinata ran out. "Naruto!"
Naruto looked up and waved. "Perfect timing! Can you help me find the princess?"
With her Byakugan, Hinata was the ideal person for the job.
The snow had blown Hinata's hair into a mess. Naruto gently tucked her hair into her coat and adjusted her hat. Hinata's cheeks flushed slightly, but she quickly activated her Byakugan to search for the princess.
With the Byakugan, finding someone wasn't too difficult.
Hinata reported, "At seven o'clock, about ten kilometers away. She's moving on foot toward nine o'clock at roughly one meter per second. Her stamina is almost depleted."
Ten kilometers at seven o'clock? Naruto thought. That was the direction of the crowd. It seemed the princess had sneaked away earlier, but they'd only just noticed.
However, if they didn't act quickly, Princess Koyuki would likely collapse from exhaustion and freeze to death in the icy wilderness.
Naruto quickly assessed the situation. "Ten kilometers isn't too far. I'll go after her. You stay with the convoy."
Hinata shook her head. "I can help too, Naruto."
Naruto smiled and ruffled her hair through her hat. "The weather's too harsh. I'll be back soon."
Hinata wanted to argue but relented under Naruto's reassuring gaze.
By the time Kakashi and Sasuke arrived, Naruto was already racing through the snow.
Kakashi asked for an update, and after confirming the target's location, he decided not to deploy too many people. He turned to Hinata. "Keep an eye on Naruto. If anything happens, report immediately so we can provide backup."
Hinata nodded and activated her Byakugan to track Naruto.
What she saw next left her stunned.
After running a kilometer, Naruto's speed suddenly increased dramatically. He moved like a cheetah, effortlessly cutting through the snow. But what caught Hinata's attention was something else—it seemed as though the snow and wind were parting around him, as if avoiding him entirely.
Hinata's eyes widened in surprise.
Kakashi noticed her expression. "What's wrong?"
Hinata quickly shook her head. "N-Nothing. I just saw a rabbit run into a tree."
Kakashi and Sasuke exchanged puzzled glances.
For some reason, Hinata decided not to report what she'd seen. She felt that since Naruto hadn't revealed this ability before, it wasn't her place to share it. Secretly, she felt proud of Naruto's strength, knowing she was the only one who'd witnessed it.
Meanwhile, Naruto was sprinting through the snow. He'd removed half of the weight from his chakra load equipment, reducing it from 50% to 25%. With only 205 kilograms left, he felt as light as a bird, as if he could take off and soar through the sky.
Of course, that was just a feeling. He wasn't quite at the level of defying gravity yet.
After ten minutes, Naruto reached the area Hinata had indicated. He scanned the surroundings and soon spotted a clue—a small, warm object lying in the snow. It must have fallen from Princess Koyuki.
The convoy moved at about 50 kilometers per hour in the snow, so covering ten kilometers would take a little over ten minutes. That was how long the princess had been running. For someone like her, who had no formal training, running in such conditions would have drained her stamina quickly.
Naruto expanded his search in a fan-shaped pattern and soon found the exhausted Princess Koyuki.
He sped up, cutting her off. "Princess!"
Koyuki, already on the verge of collapse, stumbled forward. Naruto caught her before she could fall.
Naruto steadied her and sighed. "Are you afraid of your uncle?"
Koyuki stood awkwardly in the snow, her breath visible in the cold air. "Afraid? Of course! If we don't leave this cursed place soon, we'll all die. The resistance is pointless. You'll die, the Third Prince will die, everyone will die!"
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "But you chose to run away in this weather. You're already risking your life. If you're not afraid of death, why are you afraid of your uncle?"
Koyuki glared at him. "I don't want to see the people around me die!"
Naruto smirked. "You're just scared of being killed by him, aren't you?"
Koyuki pouted, her expression betraying her true feelings. Is this what they call tsundere? Naruto thought, amused.
He decided to tease her further. "Let me tell you a secret. I can see the future. In the future I see, you don't die. You become a kind and wise queen, leading your people to prosperity."
Koyuki blinked, momentarily stunned. Naruto had subtly cleared the snow around them, creating a quiet, serene space. She scoffed. "Even if you're trying to comfort me, that's a terrible lie. Seeing the future? There's no such thing."
Naruto grinned. "Oh, but there is. Let me prove it. I'll tell you what's going to happen next, and you'll see I'm not lying."
Koyuki was too exhausted to argue. Naruto hoisted her onto his back and began running back toward the convoy.
As they passed through a tunnel, Naruto said, "Soon, a train will come through here. Your uncle, Dotō Kazahana, will be on it, leading an army to attack the Snow Country's warriors."
Koyuki glanced at the icy ground beneath them. "You're lying. The tracks under the ice are a secret, and trains are rarely used because they require too much energy to melt the tracks."
As if on cue, the ice beneath them began to melt, revealing the tracks.
Naruto grinned. "See? I told you."
Just then, the tracks began to vibrate, and the distant sound of a train whistle echoed through the tunnel.
Koyuki's eyes widened in panic. They were in the middle of the tunnel, kilometers from either end. If the train caught up to them, they'd be dead.
She screamed, "We're going to die!"
Naruto remained calm. "Don't panic."
The train roared closer, its massive frame filling the tunnel.
Naruto said, "Am I right?"
Before the train could hit them, Naruto sped up. The train accelerated as well, chasing them down the tracks.
Naruto's chakra reserves were depleting rapidly—25%, 15%, 5%. But his speed kept increasing, matching the train's pace.
The tunnel exit was just ahead, 200 meters away.
With one final burst of chakra, Naruto leaped out of the tunnel, narrowly avoiding the train.
Koyuki gasped for breath, her heart racing. "That was… insane!"
Naruto chuckled, catching his breath. "Told you I could see the future."
As the train slowed to a stop, Dotō Kazahana stepped out, holding a megaphone. "Koyuki, long time no see."
From the hillside, a group of warriors appeared, led by Sandayū Asama. "We won't let you harm the princess!" they shouted.
Koyuki's eyes filled with despair. "No! Stop! Don't do this!"
Naruto leaned in and whispered, "If you ask me, I'll save them. But that's outside my mission to protect you. You'll have to promise me something in return. Deal?"
