Chapter 446: Chapter 446: Misunderstanding and Conflict (Happy New Year)

"Boss, what should we do now? Should we stop this Hell Baron, or should we ignore him and go after that Hell Demon?" Constantine looked at Robert, who was silently staring in the direction of Hell Baron, and hesitantly asked. To curry favor, he even directly called him "Boss."

After all, this was already the third Hell Demon Robert had helped Constantine find, and Constantine felt that this might be his last chance to pay off his debt by sacrificing a Hell Demon. Moreover, this Hell Demon was extremely powerful, far surpassing the Blackheart Demon from before. Constantine definitely didn't want to miss this opportunity!

"Hmm... let's wait and see," Robert said after a moment of silence, looking towards Hell Baron. "His aura isn't that strong, not even compared to those Shadow Legion generals. If he doesn't have any special methods, he certainly won't be able to defeat this Hell Demon. However, if he dares to come, he might actually have something up his sleeve."

"But what if he actually kills the demon?" Constantine asked weakly, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.

"Then he kills it. Are you planning to steal someone else's trophy?" Robert glared at Constantine. As a warrior who despised others taking his kills, he naturally loathed the idea of snatching someone else's victory.

"I was just thinking, I didn't really mean to take it," Constantine quickly shook his head when he saw Robert's displeased expression. Although stealing others' trophies was indeed his style, he couldn't admit this in front of Robert, fearing Robert might beat him to death—or at least give him a good thrashing.

Since learning of Robert's strength and starting to cooperate with him, Constantine had put Robert on his "don't mess with" list. After all, offending Robert brought no benefits, whereas cooperating with him helped to pay off his debts. Even as unscrupulous as Constantine was, he knew what choice to make.

Under the watchful eyes of Robert and Constantine, Hell Baron entered the tavern, unaware of their presence. As soon as he stepped inside, the top-tier Hell Demon immediately sensed his arrival.

"Hmm? Such a peculiar hellish bloodline? No, wait! This is a lord's bloodline?!" The Hell Demon instantly recognized Hell Baron as a hellish being but soon noticed something odd and his expression changed dramatically.

As a top-tier Hell Demon serving a powerful Hell Lord, Seldar was quite familiar with the bloodlines of Hell Lords. He even felt that Hell Baron's bloodline seemed stronger than his master's!

"How is this possible? My master is already mid-level among Hell Lords, nearing the level of a demigod. Could his bloodline come from someone even more powerful?" Seldar thought, staring at Hell Baron with a trace of hesitation. At that moment, Hell Baron's gaze met his.

Unable to ignore the intense stare, Hell Baron instinctively looked over and realized that this was the hellish being he had come to find.

"Found you!" Hell Baron's eyes lit up with excitement. Since reaching the level of a demon lord, he felt that his strength hadn't improved for a long time, partly because his recent opponents weren't strong enough.

So, seeing Seldar excited him greatly. Although he didn't know Seldar's exact strength, he was confident that as long as Seldar wasn't much stronger than him, he could win.

"Hmm? Why is he so excited?" Seldar didn't take Hell Baron's excitement seriously, assuming Hell Baron was another hellish being looking to cooperate or share information.

"What do you want?" Seldar asked calmly, releasing his powerful aura. The sudden pressure made everyone around pale.

Although this place was a gathering spot for the supernatural, the strength of its members varied greatly. Frankly, powerful supernatural beings seldom gathered in such places.

Thus, most of those present weren't very strong, and facing a top-tier Hell Demon's aura made them tremble like quails.

"You guys should leave," Hell Baron frowned at the sight and released his own aura. Although it wasn't enough to counter Seldar's, it allowed the others to regain their mobility and flee in panic.

Hell Baron understood that not everyone in this tavern was evil. Raised by the military and with a restricted upbringing, he didn't have a habit of judging or killing indiscriminately.

"Just a bunch of ants, none of them are related to our Hell. Why bother protecting them?" Seldar said dismissively, though he didn't stop the others from leaving, even withdrawing his aura.

To Seldar, although Hell Baron wasn't as strong as him, he was still a demon lord and possessed a strong Hell Lord bloodline. Avoiding conflict was preferable.

Despite the scheming and rivalry among Hell Demons in their dimension, once on Earth, they were usually more inclined to cooperate than to fight.

After all, coming to Earth was for profit. Fighting would be counterproductive. Therefore, Seldar was willing to give Hell Baron some face.

"You're more polite than other demons, but can you tell me why you've come to Earth?" Hell Baron said, taking a seat at Seldar's table and casually picking up a drink, which looked tiny in his large right hand.

"That hand of yours is peculiar," Seldar remarked, looking at Hell Baron's massive right hand before returning his gaze to Hell Baron's eyes. "What purpose? Isn't it the same as ours? To see what opportunities Earth presents..."

"By the way, I don't recall contacting a demon lord like you before. Are you a latecomer? Which Hell Lord sent you to scout?"

Seldar's words were partly to probe Hell Baron's background. Mentioning his own Hell Lord was also a way to intimidate Hell Baron and gather information.

Hell Baron wanted to know Seldar's purpose, while Seldar wanted to understand Hell Baron's origin and whether it would conflict with his master's plans. Should he cancel his plans or warn his master?

"Scouting? Are you sent by a Hell Lord?" Hell Baron's brows furrowed. Although he didn't know how powerful this Hell Lord was, he knew that such an enemy was beyond his ability to deal with. A Hell Lord on Earth would be a disaster.

Given the lingering effects of the Shadow incident, if Earth were targeted by a Hell Lord, ordinary people wouldn't stand a chance. This realization filled Hell Baron with a surge of killing intent.

Even though Seldar seemed more polite than other hellish beings, Hell Baron couldn't let him succeed in his schemes.

"Crack!" Making his decision, Hell Baron immediately attacked, shattering the glass in his hand and swinging his massive right fist at Seldar's head.

"Whoosh!" His punch missed, failing to hit Seldar, but the wind from his fist blasted through the tavern, letting in a cold breeze that didn't bother either Hell Baron or Seldar.

Outside, a group of supernatural beings who hadn't fled earlier, hoping to eavesdrop, now scrambled away in fear.

"Why did you attack? Does your Hell Lord intend to monopolize Earth? Not even Mephisto achieved that..." Seldar was ready when he saw the killing intent in Hell Baron's eyes but didn't expect Hell Baron to actually attack.

This was beyond his comprehension. Even if they intended to monopolize Earth, shouldn't they first understand the situation? Attacking now seemed premature.

"Mephisto..." In midair, Robert smirked at Seldar's words. Beside him, Constantine had a peculiar expression, knowing all too well why Mephisto hadn't succeeded—Robert always thwarted his plans.

"Mephisto?" Hell Baron, hearing the name, didn't show fear but rather relief, realizing Seldar's master wasn't Mephisto.

Hell Baron had tried to learn about his origins and heard of the infamous Mephisto, knowing he was among the top Hell Lords, far beyond Hell Baron's capabilities.

But now, from Seldar's words and tone, he understood that Seldar's master was much weaker than Mephisto. This gave Hell Baron confidence to keep Seldar from causing trouble.

"Whoosh!" Hell Baron attacked again, this time his right fist emanating a power akin to space manipulation, making it harder for Seldar to dodge.

"Damn it! Do you think I'm afraid of you just because you have backing?" This time, Seldar chose not to dodge. Despite Hell Baron's persistent attacks, Seldar, driven by anger, was ready to fight back.
