Chapter 5: Chapter 5
There weren't many pupils in the building, and the walls were decorated with large pictures on them, and the floor was covered with red carpet. There were doors by the wall, and I could tell that the door at the end of the wall was his office.
The phrase "principal's office" was written on the door when I got there. I let out a sigh, knocked, and entered without being asked to come in. He looked at me without saying anything as soon as I went in. I closed the door softly and approached him gradually.
"Good morning sir,"
"So you must be Takoda?"
I was a little taken aback when I heard this.
"How did you know sir?"
He answered, "I know a bright student when I see one."
I asked because I was curious and wanted to know why he said that.
"How do you know I'm a bright student?"
When I asked this query, the principal grinned.
"If I tell you, it might ruin your future; sometimes it's best to keep your visions. You'll discover how to achieve greatness on your own."
I didn't want to talk too much because I had a long day ahead of me and all I needed to do was find my hostel and unwind.
"Thank you sir."
"You can call me Ali, Principal Ali."
"Okay." He stood up and asked me to follow him.
We left his office and the building together, then we stood outside for a while. Moments later, he hailed a red-armoured female who was walking by and requested her to take me to the beginner's hostel. He said that since everyone in the beginners hostel was a newbie like me, I would know what to do when I got there, he seemed like a lazy man who didn't want to tour me himself.
As she walked me to the hostel, the girl was gracious enough to assist me with my bags. We didn't speak to one another on the way there till we got to the hostel.
"Some of the girls are rude, but you'll definitely find some nice ones. I'm confident you can manage it from here."
As she made her way to her block, I said, "Thanks."
When I got inside after gathering my belongings, I noticed that every girl inside was wearing green armour. After taking a look, I went to the first room on the left, which had roughly seven bunks so there were about fourteen girls in the room, or thirteen. I entered and saw some girls chatting, but as soon as they saw me, they immediately stopped talking and looked at me. As they stared at me, I felt uneasy, but I asked.
"Is there a free space here?" I said in a gentle tone. A girl sitting on the top bunk leapt down as they all turned to look around.
As the other girls went about their business, she murmured, "I need a bunkmate," and came over to me.
As she assisted me with my bags, the sweet girl remarked, "Seem like you resumed today."
"Yeah," I replied.
I sat on the down bed while we made our way to the bunk. I was really worn out. The sweet girl looked at me as she sat on my bed.
"My name is Hereta." I could tell she wanted to be friends because she smiled at me.
"I'm Takoda."
"That's a pretty unique name, what's the meaning?"
"My mother told me it means friends to everyone."
We both grinned as she said, "Then that would make you the most popular girl in our block."
All the girls were wearing the armour even inside the hostel, so I was fascinated even though I needed to take it off because I was so stressed.
I asked my bunkmate Hereta, "Sorry, may I take off my armour? I'm really stressed and sweaty."
"Not until sunset, part of our training here all students must be on their uniform until sunset, youll get used to it."
I asked, "What if I want to take a shower?" since I didn't want to discuss how cheesy the I'll rule sounded.
When I asked this, Hereta laughed.
"You can then take it off."
As soon as she finished speaking, a woman with a staff in her hand and more sophisticated green armour entered the room, and all of the girls got to their feet. They appeared to be silent and bowed their heads when she entered, though I couldn't tell if that was out of fear or retaliation. I remained in bed, unsure of who she was, staring around until Hereta caught my wrist and hauled me to my feet. Like the other girls, I stood where I was and lowered my head.
I muttered, "Who is she?"
"Our hostel mistress, don't say anything else or she will get us punished," Hereta muttered.
Standing where she was, the hostel mistress surveyed her surroundings.
She inquired, "Where is the new girl?" I heard her, but for no apparent reason, I remained where I was.
"Go." After Hereta finished speaking, I approached her and met her eyes.
She reprimanded me, "Head down." I bowed my head swiftly and waited for her to finish speaking. "Hello, this is Misting School, nobody is a new student at Misting School so we won't sing you a welcome song. I'm getting your new roommates have told you some of the rules, if you misbehave today, we might as well send you home." She said, "And when I finish a sentence, you must reply yes ma'am."
"Yes ma'am," I replied.
"Good. Now go; your pals will let you know if you require any additional information.
She turned and walked away after I said, "Yes ma'am." The girls sat down and went about their work as soon as she left. As I made my way back to my bunk, Hereta apologized for the attitude of our hostel mistress, saying that some of the girls detested her because she was so rigid.
I tried to sleep because I was so tired, but I was unable to do so. I suppose that I wasn't accustomed to sleeping outside my house. I remained in bed and watched the girls conversing with one another. Hereta was reading a book, and I felt alienated and unwelcome at Misting School.
When Hereta woke me up a few hours later, it was getting dark, and I noticed the females leave the room as Hereta was putting her hair up. I sat up and stretched.
"Where are we going?" I rubbed my eyes in an attempt to see better as I asked.
"We're going out for dinner and prayers," Hereta said.
I got up and waited for Hereta to finish parking her hair without asking any questions. After she finished, we left together. The way the girls wearing various types of armour emerged from their blocks and mixed before us was incredible. I must confess that the uniform is lovely. Although I am incapable of harming a bird or even flying, I felt strong when I wore it. As I started to appreciate my uniform after seeing other students, a smile came to my face, which piqued Hereta's interest.
"Why are you smiling?"
I still had a smile on my face as I looked at her.
"Nothing, I just love the armour."
"I know right, and you know the best part?"
"No," I remarked inquiringly.
"That button on your wrist, push it."
She was talking about the button I pressed to open the gate when I initially got to the school. I raised my hand and examined my wrist before pressing a button that caused a medium-length knife to emerge from my glove's fist. It was shockingly fantastic.
The knife appeared to be very sharp when I glanced at it.
"It's cool right?"
"Of course." As I continued to admire the knife, I discovered that pressing the button on my wrist was more crucial than unlocking gates. I pressed the button once again, and the knife returned to it's position.
