Chapter 364: [364] Beyond Common Sense
Following the rapidly advancing party, Tsubaki surveyed the ever-changing scenery of the labyrinth.
Dim phosphorescence, multiple branching paths, approaching monsters—all these troubles had been dealt with, yet no suspicious figures targeting them could be seen anywhere.
But it was only now that Tsubaki suddenly realized.
Among the entire group, the first-class adventurers all wore expressions so tense it was terrifying, while the supporters like Raul were pale as death.
The heightened sense of crisis filled the party with an atmosphere thick with tension.
"Don't slow down!"
Gareth, positioned at the rear, couldn't help but urge them forward.
"This is... vibrations?"
Tsubaki suddenly noticed it.
A sense of dissonance assaulted the party—the calamitous tremors rising from beneath their feet.
It was a roar that shook their very bones, the cry of a monster king.
"A dragon species?!"
Tsubaki's expression instantly changed.
Dragon species were rare monsters, far more powerful than ordinary creatures, but also exceedingly scarce.
For example, in the upper floors from the 1st to the 12th, a rare dragon-type monster called a "Wyvern" might spawn, its strength far surpassing Level 1, making it impossible for novice adventurers to handle.
And here...
"So many dragon species?!"
Tsubaki's face twisted in shock.
The roars of monster kings rose one after another—it was definitely not just one or two.
The rare dragon species appearing in these 50+ floors—how strong could they possibly be? And to appear in such numbers!
"But where are they?"
Tsubaki looked left and right but couldn't spot any dragon species.
"Below."
Eiji muttered sharply.
His eyes were as keen as blades.
"They're coming!"
Suddenly, he shouted a warning.
"Bete, turn left!"
Finn barked out the order.
The vanguard didn't hesitate, swerving away from the main path and darting into a narrow side passage.
And then—
BOOM!!
The ground exploded.
"?!"
A crimson shockwave erupted from below—a towering pillar of fire.
Scorching light and heat surged forth, twisting Tsubaki's face into a grimace.
"So that's how it is!"
Like a massive landmine detonating, the floor where they had just stood was completely obliterated. Crimson flames engulfed the passage, reducing the approaching monsters to ashes in an instant.
Not only that—the colossal pillar of fire burned straight through the ceiling, shooting up into the 51st floor.
Raul, Alicia, and the other supporters turned deathly pale, barely managing to choke back their screams.
For supporters like them, only Level 4, this place was far too dangerous. Every step was fraught with countless lethal threats. Without the protection of the executives around them, they would have died hundreds of times over already.
"This is the Deep Floors... the realm beyond the 50th..."
Eiji murmured.
Though he had prepared himself before entering, encountering something so absurd still left him bewildered.
"Floor Ignorance."
The monsters here possessed this terrifying characteristic. No wonder common sense didn't apply.
"Detour! Head for the western passage!"
Finn shouted, and the party immediately veered off the main path, sprinting through the narrow labyrinthine corridors.
"They're coming again!"
As the group advanced, Eiji issued another warning like an alarm.
Then, another massive explosion of fire surged from beneath, blasting through both the floor and ceiling.
Thanks to his warning, the vanguard managed to narrowly avoid the flames this time.
In such dire circumstances, his intuition played a crucial role, allowing the group to evade danger time and again.
"How many?"
"At least seven or more!"
As they crossed the blood-stained chasm, Tiona glanced downward.
Giant bursts of fire pierced through the barriers, continuously sniping from the depths.
The rock layers crumbled rapidly, waves of heat rushing toward them.
"Riveria, defensive magic!"
"Already cast!"
As Riveria's incantation echoed, an emerald glow enveloped everyone.
The dragon's roar grew clearer, shaking every floor beneath their feet.
Lefiya stumbled in panic, following the executives as they darted left and right.
Faced with a crisis where even first-class adventurers could only keep fleeing, she had thought herself prepared—yet now, her heart pounded uncontrollably.
Endless bombardments, the earth-shaking dragon's roar—all of it assaulted her eyes and ears.
"Damn it!"
"Huh?"
While dodging the flames, her azure eyes suddenly caught sight of something.
From a passage resembling a skylight along the upper wall, swarms of giant black spiders emerged.
Only Lefiya, positioned in the rear guard, and Gareth behind her noticed the threat.
"Watch out!"
Before she could finish her warning, thick strands of webbing sprayed from the passage.
The ambush was too sudden. The vanguard, already focused on evading the attacks from below, had no time to think—they could only leap aside to avoid the webs.
"Raul!"
"Alicia!"
The first-class adventurers reacted swiftly, but the supporters weren't as fortunate.
Raul in the middle ranks and Alicia on the left were both targeted by the black spiders.
In an instant, Alicia's wrist was ensnared by the webbing. Her face paled, fear spreading through her as a sense of crisis gripped her entire body.
Whoosh—!
Suddenly, a streak of light shot forth—almost soundless.
The resilient webbing snapped instantly. Alicia staggered but steadied herself, casting a grateful look toward Eiji.
His reaction had been faster than Finn's!
"Tha—"
"Move!"
Before she could finish thanking him, Eiji suddenly shouted.
Trusting his warning completely, everyone instinctively dashed toward the corners of the passage.
BOOM!
The next moment, the floor collapsed once more as a massive fireball grazed past them, shooting toward the ceiling.
Eiji pulled Alicia aside, narrowly avoiding the blast.
"Lefiya!"
But from the other side, Riveria's horrified cry rang out.
In a blur of motion, the girl in pink robes plummeted into the chasm below.
"This is all my fault…!"
Raul's expression twisted in anguish.
When the webbing had lashed toward him, Finn hadn't been fast enough to grab him.
It was Lefiya behind him who suddenly pushed him out of harm's way—only to be struck by the webbing herself. The black spiders yanked her into the air.
When the fireball exploded, it incinerated both the spiders and their webs.
But Lefiya had already fallen into the abyss.
In the chaos of evasion, no one had been able to save her in time.
This was an unintentional collaboration between upper-floor monsters and lower-floor dragonkin, making it utterly impossible to defend against.
Thud!
A heavy footstep suddenly rang out.
A silver-armored youth leaped up and dove straight into the blood-stained pit.
"Eiji!"
Among the group, he was the first to recover from the aftermath of the blazing flames.
Without hesitation, Tiona gripped her greatsword and followed him into the pit.
"Lefiya!"
Ais's eyes narrowed as she sprinted toward the pit as well.
