The Dragon's Mandate

Chapter 19: Brothers united to defeat a tiger

Archer Moon was trembling uncontrollably, his mouth agape as if he couldn't close it, not even noticing the drool escaping his lips.

"Incredible! It's like magic, bringing the dead back to life! Today, I've truly witnessed something extraordinary!" He took several deep breaths to calm his racing heart.

Archer fixed his gaze on Navid Byrd once more and asked, "May I ask what technique you just used? Could it be the long-lost Ancient Divine Needle Technique?"

Hearing Archer's question, Navid looked at him seriously, "Old man, you're not worthy of knowing."

"Keep your life for now; I have use for you. Leave this room within ten seconds, or you'll face dire consequences!"

Archer had already learned of Navid's identity from Max. Whether it was out of guilt or anger, he didn't retort to Navid's rude words. Instead, he picked up his medical kit, snorted coldly, and strode out of the room without looking back.

"Master, that old man..."

Logan Monroe was unwilling, his eyes filled with malice as he watched Archer's retreating figure, seeking instructions.

"No rush," Navid said calmly, stepping forward to pat Justin Byrd on the shoulder, sighing with heartfelt emotion.

"Big brother, the Byrd family can't do without you. Come back soon."

He had wanted to say this to Justin for a long time, but seeing his brother living a peaceful life, wanting to be an ordinary person, he always held back.

However, today, when everyone doubted and questioned him, his brother's support and anger did not go unnoticed.

Navid Byrd felt a sudden clarity. His older brother hadn't changed; he had just become better at hiding his true self. Navid realized that his brother was the perfect person to reclaim the family's businesses, as he was once their grandfather's favored heir. Navid himself had never been fond of the business world, and if his brother was willing, he would gladly step aside as the head of the Byrd family.

Hearing Navid's words, Julie felt a surge of happiness. Ever since she witnessed the grand wedding Navid organized, she had hoped for this outcome.

"Master Max, I'll take my leave now. Please take care," Navid said politely, bidding farewell to the wise elder. Without paying attention to anyone else, he calmly left the hospital room.

Clarence Grant, Mario Grant, and the others stood there like statues, dumbfounded and unable to react. The members of the Grant family looked between Navid and the lively Max, unsure of what to make of the situation.

Max, ever the perceptive one, noticed the conflicted expression on Justin Byrd's face. He spoke with understanding, "When I married my granddaughter to you, I never intended for you to be just a son-in-law. You are still the eldest son of the Byrd family. Blood is thicker than water."

With the Byrd family in turmoil, Justin knew he couldn't hide behind Navid any longer. Resolute, he bowed deeply to Max, then silently followed Navid out.

Julie, left behind, surprisingly didn't react with anger or questions. Instead, her eyes sparkled, as if she was contemplating something important.

Navid wasn't surprised that his brother chose to follow him. Back at the Byrd family estate, the two brothers sat together in a room, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken thoughts.

"Back then, Archer Moon was involved in the downfall of our family," Justin Byrd stated with a heavy heart, his tone leaving no room for doubt.

"What do you mean?" Navid Byrd nodded, asking for clarification.

"When Grandpa was gravely ill, we sought every doctor in South City, yet none could diagnose his condition."

"In desperation, Father planned to seek a medical expert in the capital. It was then that Archer Moon unexpectedly volunteered to treat him."

"While it seemed like a blessing at the time, looking back, it feels suspicious. Everyone knew Archer was greedy and aloof, and it was unheard of for him to offer his services willingly."

"Though Grandpa's critical condition was alleviated under his care, he became muddled and confused."

"We all know what happened next. Three days later, on a stormy night, tragedy struck our family."

"Over the years, I've barely survived, but I've been searching for the truth. Reliable sources say that the Byrd family's treasured Biyang Elixir recipe is in his possession!"

"Countless antiques and paintings have also ended up in his hands."

Speaking to his brother, Justin clenched his fists, holding back tears.

Seeing Justin's pain, Navid felt a pang of sympathy.

After the massacre, both brothers understood the importance of their own strength. Being weak and fragile wouldn't protect their legacy or achieve revenge.

"I heard there's an auction tomorrow morning, and the highlight is our family's 'Pear Orchard Painting,'" Navid mentioned casually.

The brothers exchanged a glance, sharing the same thought.

The next day, Navid appeared in the garden, full of energy and determination.

"Master, at nine in the morning, the Junhua Auction House will open. Among today's items, there are two paintings from the Byrd family, and the auctioneer is Archer Moon," Logan Monroe reported the information he had gathered.

"Two paintings?" Navid Byrd glanced at Logan.

"Yes. One is 'The Pear Orchard,' and the other is said to be... 'The Ode of Forgetfulness,'" Logan said cautiously.

Seeing the dark expression on Navid's face, Logan fell silent, mentally lighting a candle for the audacious fool who dared such actions.

Since returning to Tongnan City, Logan had collected all information regarding the Byrd family, the three major families, and various other clans.

'The Ode of Forgetfulness' was something Navid had specially acquired for his fiancée in his youth.

Before the Byrd family's downfall, Justin Byrd's marriage was arranged by the family patriarch and Master Max.

As the notorious second son of the Byrd family, Navid had his fiancée chosen early on. She was Sarah Emma Yates from the Qu family. Although Navid was known for his playful nature, he was quite attentive to his future wife, often collecting rare treasures to win her favor.

However, when the Byrd family tragedy struck, the Qu family stood by, unwilling to get involved. Over the years, they never mentioned the engagement, as if it had never existed.

Tomorrow morning's auction features 'The Pear Orchard,' a piece by Archer Moon, and the origin of 'The Ode of Forgetfulness' is obvious. It seems Emma Yates is determined to sever ties with the Byrd family completely. She must have already heard about Navid's return and acted swiftly, which was truly disheartening.

Navid silently stared at the artificial lake, saying nothing.

Emma Yates? If Logan Monroe hadn't mentioned "The Ode of Forgetfulness" today, he might have completely forgotten about her.

Young and reckless, there was a time when he felt a spark.

But alas, it was a one-sided affair.

Now, with a loving wife and a sweet daughter by his side, his past obsessions had faded into the background.

However, revenge must be sought, and ties must be severed!

Want to cut ties? That's not for you to decide!

After breakfast, since Linda was still recovering, the two brothers silently left the house.

Navid Byrd and Justin Byrd, dressed in sleek black suits, exuded contrasting auras—one sharp and intense, the other gentle and refined, both striking figures.

Today, the Byrd brothers would make their official debut in Tongnan City.

The Hyatt Hotel was located in the heart of Tongnan City, where every inch of land was precious. It was one of the most upscale five-star hotels around.

As soon as they entered the lobby, Navid Byrd paused slightly and turned to Justin Byrd. "Wait for me in the VIP room...!"

Justin's eyes narrowed, instantly understanding Navid's intention. Emma Yates and Archer Moon were likely in for a rough day.

After settling Justin in the VIP room, Navid felt a bit more at ease. There was less than half an hour left before the auction started. The VIP room was equipped with ultra-clear LCD screens broadcasting the auction live. Justin only needed to see the results; Navid would handle the dirty work.

Navid took a deep breath and, along with Logan Monroe, entered the hotel lobby. As he looked around, the place was bustling with people—at least a hundred, gathered in small groups, chatting happily.

The men were all dressed in formal suits, exuding an air of confidence. The women were elegantly dressed, graceful and charming.

These were the elites of Tongnan City, nearly the entire aristocratic circle was present.

Navid, in his dark suit, immediately became the center of attention upon entering.

It was rare to see someone in Tongnan City with such a commanding presence.

And his serene demeanor, as if he were above worldly concerns, made him seem like a deity descended to earth.
