Chapter 117: Crestfield Town
It didn't take long for them to reach Crestfield Town thanks to Kai's high-speed carriage. Although carriages that flew were common in the capital, none of them moved as fast as Kai's, and they still needed a coachman.
When they arrived, they passed inspection as usual and entered the town. It made sense that the town wouldn't have the same splendor as the capital city would; however, Crestfield Town looked worse than the other towns Kai had visited.
"At least this is better than Marenford," Gwen spoke aloud as they roamed the streets.
"True. The air is breathable." Amaya agreed.
Kai had to admit that they were right. This town, Crestfield, was livable. In fact, a person wouldn't mind living here if it were their only option. This just showed how much better a place like Hearthwood was.
"Spot anyone you know?" Sasha asked Kyana.
"No, not yet. But there are spies all over this town, so I'm sure someone has already noticed me."
"Doesn't matter," Kai spoke up, stretching his arm. He scanned the city using his mana to see if there was any place that had a secret underground pathway or something of the like. He sensed that there were multiple paths that led to one central location underground.
After using his X-ray vision to confirm this, he smirked. "I know where they are anyway."
They all looked at him. "Really? Where?"
He pointed to the ground. "Beneath us. Let's blast down there. Go in guns blazing!"
"Hell yeah! I don't know what a gun is, but it sounds badass!" Amaya agreed, drawing her blade.
"Calm down, you two. What do you think the people will say after we destroy the ground they use to get around? Let's just handle this the old-fashioned way." Gwen pointed to the guild they were approaching, telling everyone to go inside.
"Lame."
"So lame."
"Oh, shut up."
The guild was filled with a lot of people. Adventurers going to and from quests, some sat around to chat, while others were getting drunk. The place matched the typical vibe of an Adventurers guild that Kai and the others had long gotten used to.
When they walked inside, everyone turned their head, looking at the 'fresh meat' who entered their establishment.
"Hey! Look, everyone! Newbies!" A man shouted, raising his beer.
"Haha! We haven't had newbies in a while."
"Hey, hot stuff. Why don't you come sit with us and have a fun time?"
Kai turned to the bastard who spoke to his girls, a disgusted look on his face. 'Go stick a sword up your penis.' He hypnotized the man telepathically.
The man stood up, grabbed his sword, and ran out of the guild. "I have to do something important!"
'Heh, bitch.'
Over in a quiet, dark corner of the guild, a young man was sitting at a table with his hood over his head, his eyes reflecting a nervous expression, and his hands fidgeting like crazy.
'How the fuck is Kyana here? Didn't we sell her into slavery a while ago? She can't be back for us, can she? Fuck! Of course, she's here for us! She probably wants revenge. I gotta tell the boss.'
The man secretly and quietly left the guild without being detected. However, Kai had already noticed him and sent a clone to follow the man closely.
"Hello, Carlina." Kyana greeted the receptionist with a cold expression and an irritated voice.
"K-Kyana, what a surprise. I w-wasn't expecting to see you here....again." Calina managed to get out.
Kyana stared into the woman's eyes before speaking. Her fierce gaze made the receptionist's heart pound like crazy, and sweat started dripping down her face. An audible gulp could be heard, and the woman's hands started shaking uncontrollably.
"They probably have bad blood," Amaya whispered in Sasha's ear.
"No shit."
"Hmm? Kai, what are you doing?" Gwen wondered, noticing that Kai was staring at a man who had his hand on his large sword.
'We're being tested. Look around and listen. No one is chatting anymore, everyone is on edge, and they are all close to their weapons. When Kyana's name was called, this was the result of that.' He spoke in her mind.
Gwen looked around subtly, noticing what Kai had pointed out. She prepared to take out her staff, but Kai placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from doing so.
'Everyone, prepare for a fight.' He informed everyone. 'But act natural. This means stop looking around, Amaya.'
She lowered her head and purred softly and sadly.
"And why weren't you expecting me?" Kyana asked, trying to get her to speak.
"Y-You know, because you retired. Y-Your party talks about how they miss you."
She slammed her hands onto the counter. "Do they now? Are you sure they miss me, or miss using me?"
"I-I don't know what you're talking about. What d-do you mean by that?"
Kyana's anger started to rise, and she wanted to gut Carlina right where she stood, but instead of an attack, only laughter came out of Kyana. She couldn't help but laugh at Carlina and how she was trying her best to act clueless.
"Do you take me for a fool? I know you are in cahoots with them, you loose pussy bitch. They told me everything before they sold me off to that fucking slaver! I trusted you, thought you were my friend. But you sold me out."
Carlina's face went from shock to serious in a split second. She sighed heavily, pushing her hair back and putting on an annoying smirk. "You should have just stayed a slave, you dumb bitch."
"Revealing your true colors now?" Kyana smirked
"Oh shit, this is getting good." Kai started eating some popcorn.
"Did you come back because you missed being a slave? I can change that for you if you wish." Carlina smiled.
"Heh, I can't believe I ever saw you as a friend. You're nothing but a whore whose mouth reeks of dick. I bet you sucked off every man in this guild."
All the men shifted uncontrollably.
"B-Bitch! Don't think I won't tell Junnie! He'll be happy to know that you're back so he can sell you into slavery again!"
"What am I even doing wasting my time on you?" Kyana swiped her hands, and a gust of wind sliced off Carlina's head.
Kai was not expecting Kyana to just kill the woman like that. "Oh, shit! So we're fighting now, aren't we?"
"Yes."
All the Adventurers attacked Kai and his Party.
