Chapter 252: Judgment Will Come
If the lower demons were only seeking an explanation, what they received were tangible benefits.
When a Demon King falls, at most, they can feast on a piece of meat.
However, if the Dragon family falls, the benefits they can reap are far more substantial.
Especially when no one expected that the current Family Head, Kamu, would not prioritize "the greater good" and bear everything alone. Instead, he claimed he was ensnared and accused Elder Zakro, who orchestrated everything behind the scenes.
It's said he was acting under the directions of Xino Dragon, the next Family Head of the Drgong Family. Initially, according to Elder Zakro's plan, Xino was supposed to capably sacrifice his family ties and report Kamu for recognition.
No one knew why Xino forsook an opportunity to gain merit and instead committed a self-destructive folly.
Even more surprising, nobody thought the fool, who seemed non-existent, would have the courage to do such a thing!
Elder Zakro's downfall at this moment is undoubtedly a disaster for the Dragon family.
Their loss is not just the support of a Purple Crystal Level powerhouse but also the network and resources that Elder Zakro amassed over more than a century.
Normally, even if there is potential conflict between the new Family Head and the family elders, such issues could be addressed internally once the storm has calmed, ensuring the overall interests remain intact.
However, regardless of the circumstances, the present situation dictates that there's no point in lamenting what might have been.
Kamu's confession delivered a fatal blow to Zakro, and the ensuing turmoil exceeded the impact of the Black Wind Castle plague event on the upper echelons of Demon City's order.
At the same time as Kamu's confession, the Hell Intelligence Department commenced an interrogation of Kamu and dispatched personnel to monitor him covertly at the Truth Department's prison, effectively protecting him.
This order was personally signed by Duke Karamos, the head of espionage and Intelligence Minister, citing that this matter transcends beyond mere faith and touches upon the security of both Demon City and Hell.
After all, despite thoroughly searching the Dragon family's manor, the Truth Department's Judger forces failed to locate Zakro.
Clearly, even when driven to desperation, he refuses to meekly submit.
Meanwhile, on the distant front lines, at the camp of the Red Flame Legion.
As night had just fallen, a heavy atmosphere of impending slaughter silently blanket the heads of all soldiers.
A unit of fully equipped Abyss Knights suddenly exited the Truth Department's premises, led by the Judger, directly heading towards the command tent at the camp's center.
The soldiers in the camp remained uninformed as to what was transpiring, but instinctively they sounded the alarm, assembling at the entrance of the command tent, using their bodies to block these unexpected guests.
Mounted on a towering ghost steed, Sirron slightly raised his chin, his gaze coldly fixating on the soldiers.
"Are you attempting to stage a rebellion? Step aside!"
The demons stirred in unrest.
In the face of the Demon God's mighty presence, they inadvertently shuffled back but ultimately halted.
A Horror Demon officer gingerly approached, sporting a fawning smile on his face.
"Sir... could there be some misunderstanding?"
"Misunderstanding?" Sirron raised an eyebrow, let out a cold chuckle, and replied, "Would I be here to capture someone without solid evidence?"
After speaking, he shouted towards the back of the demon horde, his voice stern.
"General Sebes, will you come out on your own, or do you want my cavalry to charge in and seek you out? Think it over carefully."
After a slight pause, he added another sentence.
"If you're hoping for the Dragon family to rescue you, I advise you to save your breath. Kamu has already surrendered and blamed Zakro. My presence here today should tell you what it means!"
The soldiers surrounding exchanged bewildered glances, unable to comprehend what the Judger was actually talking about.
They instinctively felt that their General might be entangled in dirty politics but couldn't ascertain his role, nor did they know what had transpired in Demon City, thousands of miles away.
At the moment when the demons were exchanging perplexed looks, the command tent's curtain suddenly lifted.
General Sebes, clad in Heavy Armor, emerged from within; his once imposing face now bore marks of numbness and paleness, as if drained of all blood.
Sirron's lips curled into a slight smile, his demeanor devoid of surprise at this outcome.
General Sebes approached his soldiers, gently patting one of them on the shoulder.
"Stand down."
"General..." In a daze, the demon soldier gazed at him, his fists tightly clenched, an expression implying they should fight this bunch.
After all, it's only a defeat; why should those enjoying comforts from behind relentlessly pursue his General?
It's not like they've never won!
At Seldo Port before, they had claimed countless victories!
Seeing the indignant expression stirred a fleeting uneasiness in General Sebes' heart, struggling to face the young face, he hastily diverted his gaze away.
Watching Sirron gently nod as Sebes obediently extended his hands to wear the shackles, the red-robed Sirron gave him some face, choosing not to publicly declare the charges prepared for him by the Truth Department, returning a partly exposed scroll to his bosom.
"...The War Department has dismissed Sebes from all duties; the role of Commander of the Red Flame Legion will temporarily be held by his deputy, Balrog, until a new appointment is made."
