Chapter 3: 3
As the attack was returned back to the youth, he quickly dashed away to avoid the attack. Seeing that his opponent had at least half a brain to dodge, Ruo Chen couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed at himself for making some of the characters not brain dead.
"Liar, Ye Ran is a freak! He has no friends." The outraged youth screeched but he remained a cautious stand, waiting for Ruo Chen's next move.
Who are you to call the protagonist a freak?!
Now it was Ruo Chen's turn to get angry. This brother, Ye Hui, was the oldest in Ye Ran's family, he was born with an okay core that made his parents more than happy but that was until Ye Ran was born. Ye Hui was jealous of Ye Ran's talent and decided to make life hell for him, this also influenced his other siblings to do the same to Ye Ran and it could be said they had a part in making Ye Ran into the ruthless demon he was when he reached adulthood.
Before Ruo Chen could come up with a rebuke, Ye Ran's injury already started healing by themselves, the dense and lush forest making his recovery quicker than ever. This was another rare blessing only some people possessed, the ability to use nature to aid in their healing.
Yet this only made Ruo Chen feel more disgusted and outraged. This Ye Hui was so despicable that he purposely chose such a lush and dense forest so that he could repeatedly torture and beat Ye Ran without him dying.
Ye Ran then stood up and walked face to face with his brother, although he was a head shorter than the older brother, his aura was still all the more imposing and it made Ye Hui take a step back.
"Why the sudden urge to fight back, you punk!" Ye Hui mocked, yet he was slowly backing away.
"I only allowed you to hurt me, not others." Ye Ran replied, voice unusually placid. He slowly closed the distance between the both of them.
Ye Hui, somehow scared shitless by this sentence, immediately turned his back to run away. Even this side character knew what was best for him.
Ye Ran sighed before turning to look at Ruo Chen, his face relaxed as he looked at him with a grin. Ye Ran's eyes were not red and blue anymore, but were now a deep purple. Ruo Chen couldn't help but be confused as to why his eyes would change colours like that, he only remembered writing that his eyes would change with his mood, red and blue meant a storm was brewing, blue meant that he was calm.
But purple? Ruo Chen then remembered, he wrote his stories with tons of plot holes and that this world probably just connected the dots. It was troublesome to write about eyes and overall just boring for Ruo Chen so he never thought about writing it in detail. He couldn't help but feel grateful that this world helped fill the plot holes.
But that also meant that his knowledge of the world is not 100% correct.
Ruo Chen snapped out of his thoughts as he realised that Ye Ran was now just less than an arm's length away from him. He jumped with a start at this sudden closeness before realising that Ye Ran meant no harm as he wasn't releasing his murderous aura again.
They were about the same height and Ruo Chen could now properly see those beautiful eyes. The purple colours were almost swirling in Ye Ran's eyes and it was glistening with tears, making it seem like stars in the galaxy.
Before Ruo Chen could ask why he was crying,Ye Ran had collapsed in his arms.

"Almost there…" Ruo Chen groaned as he carried Ye Ran on his back.
After Ye Ran fainted, Ruo Chen himself almost passed out from shock. The way he fainted was just too scary to poor old Ruo Chen. Then came the time for him to carry Ye Ran back to the shed as this time Ruo Chen learnt his lesson and vowed to never let Ye Ran get injured again.
Finally, after a long time did they reach the shed once again. Ruo Chen gently laid Ye Ran down on the bed before slumping to the ground.
"My first day here and already so much has happened? I know I've never written his childhood in much detail, only that it was tragic, but who knew it was this bad?"
Ruo Chen sighed as he stared at the walls. This was his reality now, he never realised how much torment he put Ye Ran through, he never knew the words he wrote would cause so much harm. Racked with guilt, he sat up to look at Ye Ran's face.
The face that was so peaceful and calm even after all the pains he endured. Ruo Chen couldn't help but feel his heart ache at the sight.
"I'm sorry, I didn't ever think this story would become a reality. If I had known, your life would have been filled with joys and not with thorns and grievances."
Ruo Chen said with heartfelt sincerity before he let himself fall into sleep.
Xiao Pang, who followed the whole journey without Ruo Chen noticing, only let out a soft whimper.
Halfway through the night, Ye Ran slowly woke up. He never really needed much sleep and just a few hours was enough for him. His wounds have also completely healed and as he slowly stretched, he found himself under the covers of a warm blanket and for a second, he didn't want to leave. He turned to stare at Ruo Chen who slept on the floor beside the bed with Xiao Pang curled up in his arms. He had the sudden urge to replace the dog with himself but all he did was just stare with an indecipherable expression on his face.
Ruo Chen seemed to have sensed someone looking at him and he stirred in his sleep. It was only with this movement did Ye Ran snap out of his thoughts. He decided to stay until morning, this was a rare warmth that he might not experience ever again and he wanted to savour it for as long as possible.
Morning came and the gentle sun peeked through the small window beside the bed, Ye Ran awoke again but this time it was to the smell of toast and eggs. Ruo Chen had woken up early to go to the main house to cook some breakfast. The house maids had offered to make it for him but he had always preferred his own cooking over others, he might not seem like it but he actually took culinary classes in his past life, this was a simple meal he could make with his eyes closed.
Now that he thought about it, what actually happened to the body of his previous life?
After bringing the breakfast back to the shed and settling it down on the study table, he brought Xiao Pang to the fields before asking his questions.
"Now that I think about it, what happened to my body?"
"I've been waiting for you to ask that, the flame hand that took you here burned down your whole house and your body." Xiao Pang barked.
Oh.
My parents would be devastated, now I can't even have the hope of returning.
I don't even have a body anymore!
But strangely enough, Ruo Chen found out that he wasn't that sad. Maybe it was because he felt that he was just a degenerate in his past life and that truly, his brothers or parents never cared about him. As long as he created no troubles. But the love from his family felt real, was it all just a joke? Or was he just thinking this to make himself feel better that his family weren't grieving for him.
There's no point in thinking about it now, is there?
This is my new reality.
Ruo Chen shook the worries from his head, he must accept the facts now, there was no turning back.
"So after I find Ye Ran a partner, what do I do next?" Ruo Chen finally said after a few minutes of spacing out.
"You get to do whatever you want." Xiao Pang replied.
Ruo Chen found that ending is not so bad, freedom to do whatever he wants? Hell yeah.
And he cheerfully skipped back to the shed. As he was about to open the door, it suddenly opened before he could grab the handle and he was greeted with Ye Ran frowning at him.
"AH!"
Ruo Chen screamed as he suddenly ducked down while covering his head.
Ye Ran only stared wordlessly at the cowering Ruo Chen.
Was he really that ugly?
