Chapter 18: chapter 16
Recap;:-
I felt a sting at the side of my eye, only to realize I was crying. I finally felt it again. Realizing she's really gone and there's nothing I can do, I only feel like a significant void in my life, a missing piece of my support system, leaving me with a sense of emptiness and a profound ache, as if a vital part of myself has been taken away, often accompanied by feelings of loneliness, grief, and a deep longing for shared experiences and intimate conversations i once had;

Crya pov:
"Such a task would be primal and instinctive. A werewolf's greatest strength lies in its animal ferocity, and a human soul/consciousness makes the best use of that power by "letting go" and unleashing it. This is dangerous, because those inhibitions are a defense mechanism. A person who can remain "conscious" while in wolf form runs the risk of losing control when they "give in" in this way, but in an extreme, desperate situation, there are times when that may be the only option.
He/she has a rare mutation which allows him to remain conscious while in wolf form rather than taking on a completely animalistic mindset while wearing that shape. This allows them to use that power to protect those they love, instead of being a danger to them... but that power was never meant to be used for such a purpose. It's rather like trying to channel and direct an explosion at the people who are the threat while simultaneously shielding those you are trying to protect. Releasing that control is a huge risk, but when faced by an equally vicious monster or people with guns, speed and ferocity is everything. A wolf's instincts serve you better than human rationality in that situation.
It's a very different mental state; the easiest way to do it is to imagine it from the perspective of an animal rather than a person. An animal doesn't spend much time evaluating or calculating, it ACTS. Everything is fast and furious. It's all claws and teeth in an explosive series of strikes and counters. Even if you're writing about an otherwise "conscious" werewolf like I do, this is one situation where the human consciousness has receded into the background, so the wolf can do its thing."
This was my reply when asked what I think about werewolves. Who gives werewolves an exam on what they think about themselves?
I focused all my attention on my paper, choosing to forget about all unwanted feelings. It didn't take long for the exam to end.
1hr 30 mins later I was done, ready to head home and say bye to this school for today, because when tomorrow comes then it is bye bye for real.
It's going to be a long walk back to the pack house", I mentally acknowledged. Looking up to the sky to see if I could time, "5pm I guess." Aurora said. A couple of seconds later I agreed with her.
I have enough money saved to buy me a car, but that's not my priority right now. If there was a way to earn money for just an infiltration plan of this pack, then I'd probably be the lycan queen by now. I noticed that they tend to guard the pack boundaries very well at night and not so much as 2 hours after school hours. They were more relaxed during the day, I guess because their energy was drained by the sunlight, or they chose to be lazy during that time. This was my chance.
Lost in thought of how to go about my escape tomorrow, I didn't notice when someone came up behind me and knocked me out cold.
The first thing I notice when I wake is the intense pain in my skull, every breath and heartbeat feeling like a sledgehammer thump against my temples.
The pain is all-encompassing, taking up every ounce of my attention and leaving no room for me to figure out where I am or what's going on around me.
My jaw aches from how hard I'm clenching it, the muscle clamped painfully as I try to focus on anything other than my pain. After what seems like hours, but is probably only a couple of minutes, I feel it finally start to fade, the pressure present but no longer so intense.
I can barely make out the sounds of movement around me, feet shuffling along the floor and quiet clinks as objects are moved. I try to open my eyes to get my bearings, wanting to know where I am and who is around me, but my lids don't cooperate.
None of my limbs are cooperating, opting to remain still despite my many attempts to move them.
"You're making a huge mistake." A muscular voice calls out, tight and full of anger. I try to make out who it belongs to but can't seem to put a finger on it.
There's silence for a brief moment before another speaks.
"Is she awake?"
"Barely," the same muscular voice replied.
The anger I felt when they were talking wasn't anything compared to the anger I feel now when I decided to check on Aurora. I felt her but she was distant as well. My guess is, they injected me with wolf's bane. I guess they were well-informed, and had resources to actually ditch the silver bullets and choose the organic option: wolf's bane! Wolf's bane, also called monkshood, has a long history in folklore around the world as a powerful plant that has the ability to transform humans into spiders, scare away werewolves and vampires, or, when injected, subdue your beast, leaving you to be a full human during the period that is still in your system. But one of its most common uses is more fact than fiction, with deadly consequences...
Wolf's bane is part of a genus of plants that all contain aconite, a potent poison that is highly toxic to humans and animals alike, even in small doses.
Symptoms occur very quickly following ingestion, and lethal doses will kill within a few hours. Large doses, however, will kill in minutes. And ingestion isn't the only way to become poisoned - skin contact can cause toxicity, too!
Aconite has neurological, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal effects, often beginning with tingling or numbness that can quickly give way to paralysis and cardiac arrest. Since it has been known as a poison for centuries, I've learned all kinds of information on its effects on different kinds of animals and people, but the evidence that it can be used against werewolves remains anecdotal.
I checked my phone and saw by my calculations and the time I saw, that I was knocked out for 20 mins. I guess they did not expect me to wake up anytime soon because they were too relaxed for someone who had just kidnapped somebody.
I looked out through the window, to guess my location. A few seconds after looking, I still couldn't determine where I was.
There were 3 people in it, 2 in the front and one in the back, all looked sturdy, and 20-25 in age. I can fight off one werewolf, but three werewolf males would definitely break my body, especially now that I didn't have my wolf with me.
After a few minutes, when the van reached empty roads, one guy from front came to the back seat, and I was in between two guys. Suddenly, they started to hit me on my face, and they snatched all my stuff-bag, phone, purse with ATM cards. They asked for 25000 dollars and I told them I'd give them whatever I had if they let me go. I told them to take me to a nearby ATM and I would give them all the money that I had, but they kept on riding along empty roads.
Whenever the road got crowded, they tried to hold my neck and once even bit my cheek in order to keep me silent and to avoid attracting attention. After a while, they entered a deserted road into a wild place, and I was almost sure that they would stop there and do something worse to me, but somehow that path led to an open road. By that time, I was sitting quietly because there was no point in making noise and getting beaten up. Fighting back was also out of the question when the road was empty, because there were 3 people around me.
Around half an hour after I got into the van i could finally feel my legs and muscles moving. I could see the van reaching a market where I saw two police officers standing near the road. Somehow, I felt that it was my last chance to escape and in a flash I remember pulling the van's handbrake. I kicked the van's side window with both my feet to break the window before jumping out onto the road and landing on my shoulders and head on the road. The van was still moving pretty fast, I think. Next thing I remember is that I was sitting on a chair at the police station where they asked me to write whatever happened.
Looking around, I find that I am surrounded by humans, and this case was about to take human turns. After 30 minutes of not making any statement or saying anything, they decided to let me go.
The first thing I did immediately I got out of the police station was to check in on Aurora, and this time she responded immediately.
"How are you?"
"Very well, thank you". She replied sarcastically.
Don't be sarcastic with me. I was worried about you"
"If you're worried, then don't ever block me out. I alerted you about the upcoming issue, but it didn't get through because you blocked me"
"I am sorry" I replied, defeated.
"Don't do it again. It won't be easy to forgive you."
"OK, so back to the issue at hand, do you know who kidnapped us?"
"No? But we can track them."
"I know, but how? They will be long gone by now."
" Listen to yourself Crya, what type of wolf are you?"
"A whit wolf"
"Good and what are the qualities of a white wolf?"
"Every ability that other werewolves have but ours is 10 times stronger."
"Good, then let's shift and find out if we can track them."
I chuckled and headed for the nearest big tree I could find before turning to my magnificent wolf.
"Aurora, can we turn fire red?" Aurora laughed.
Fire red is my way of describing fiery red. It is a vibrant, fiery hue that sits between red and orange on the color spectrum.
"Sure we can" she replied.
And just like that, we changed the color of our fur.
" I remember one of them smelling like wet matted fur and a strong odor of dog and human BO with either a faint to extreme scent of metal from blood." I said.
"Yeah, I know, we're one, remember."
"Let's go" she said, taking off into the night.
After an hour of running, I was able to pin their location. There was an abandoned warehouse in between the two packs and very close to the school. That's where the scent led me to.
I heard conversations between the three voices that I've grown familiar with in the past 4 hours and a fourth voice. Maybe this is their employer, the person who hired them to kidnap me.
I changed back to my human form, ready to give them a handful of fists and speak my mind. But I stopped dear in my tracks when another voice was introduced, and something about that voice made the bike in my stomach rise.
A chilling feeling filled me up, unable to move any body part, goosebumps filled my body. I prayed to any living being available in the universe for my intuition to be wrong.
I prayed with every being in me that it shouldn't be who I think it is, that it be another person with the same voice.
Aurora tried to calm me down, but even she wasn't calm as well. It took me a whole lot of courage for me to check out if it's true. And when I did, I felt every emotion drain from my body, my face, and my system.
One thing I know right now is I am forever enemies with this person, and I'll never forgive or forget what this person did to me.
