Chapter 91: Chapter 89: A Day in the Demon Slayer Corps
The battle was on hold, at least for now. After the chaotic encounter with Mizan, the Demon Slayers took the opportunity to rest and recover. But, of course, for someone like Saitama, "rest" meant something completely different.
Morning - Training and Chaos
The sun had barely risen when Tanjirou woke up to the sound of loud thuds echoing through the training grounds. He rubbed his eyes and stepped outside, only to see Inosuke… headbutting a tree.
"What are you doing?!" Tanjirou shouted in alarm.
"Training my skull! If I make it harder, I'll never need a sword!" Inosuke grinned before slamming his head again.
Tanjirou sighed. "That's not how training works!"
Meanwhile, Zenitsu was lying on the ground nearby, completely exhausted.
"I just ran ten laps around the mountain," he wheezed. "Why do we have to suffer like this?"
"It's called discipline," Giyuu said, appearing out of nowhere.
Zenitsu nearly jumped. "STOP DOING THAT!"
Shinobu chuckled from the sidelines. "It's amusing how terrified you always are."
Saitama walked past them, casually sipping tea. "You guys are really overcomplicating things. Just one serious session, and you'd be set."
Tanjirou turned to him. "How do you train, Saitama-san?"
Saitama shrugged. "100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run. Every day."
The entire Demon Slayer Corps fell silent.
Zenitsu blinked. "That's… it?"
Saitama nodded. "Oh, and no air conditioning in summer or heating in winter."
Inosuke burst out laughing. "BAHAHA! You expect me to believe that?!"
Shinobu smiled sweetly. "Maybe we should try it?"
Zenitsu immediately paled. "N-NO, LET'S NOT!"
Afternoon - Ramen Shop Visit
After training, the group decided to head into town for a much-needed break. The scent of freshly made ramen filled the air as they found a small shop tucked away in the village.
"Alright, I'm starving!" Inosuke announced, slamming himself down onto a seat.
Zenitsu sighed, already regretting sitting next to him. "Can you at least act civilized?"
The shopkeeper hesitated before asking, "How many bowls?"
Saitama looked at the menu. "I'll take… hmm, twenty bowls."
Everyone turned to stare at him.
"Excuse me, what?!" Zenitsu choked.
The shopkeeper nervously laughed. "You must be joking, sir."
Saitama pulled out some money. "I'm not."
The poor shopkeeper scrambled to the kitchen while the others ordered more reasonable portions.
A few minutes later, a mountain of ramen bowls arrived. Saitama casually started eating while the others stared in disbelief.
Zenitsu whispered, "He eats like a demon."
Tanjirou, being polite, continued eating his own bowl. Inosuke, on the other hand, challenged Saitama to a ramen-eating contest.
"You may be strong, but can you out-eat me?!"
Saitama didn't even react. He just kept eating at the same relaxed pace.
Two minutes later, Inosuke collapsed.
"TOO MUCH… CAN'T… GO ON…"
Zenitsu shook his head. "He did that to himself."
Evening - Campfire Talks
Back at the Demon Slayer headquarters, the group sat around a campfire, enjoying the peaceful night. The stars twinkled above as they shared stories.
"Before I became a Demon Slayer," Tanjirou said, "I used to sell charcoal to help my family."
Zenitsu sighed. "I used to be forced into debt because of an old man, then trained against my will."
Shinobu laughed lightly. "I was forced into becoming an insect."
Giyuu stayed silent.
Inosuke, of course, grinned. "I was raised by wild boars!"
Saitama took another sip of tea. "I was unemployed for three years."
Everyone turned to him.
Zenitsu looked confused. "Wait… that's it?"
Saitama nodded. "Yeah. It was pretty boring."
The fire crackled as they all took in his words.
"…That's kinda sad," Inosuke said.
Shinobu, trying to lighten the mood, smiled. "Well, at least you have a fun life now, right?"
Saitama glanced around at the group—Tanjirou's kindness, Zenitsu's whining, Inosuke's chaos, and the other Hashira's strange personalities.
He sighed.
"Yeah, I guess so."
