The Peerless Beauty Stuck With Me

Chapter 28: Full of Drama

Tang Rao ran for three hundred meters and then turned right.

In front of him, hidden under a large expanse of woods, was an abandoned factory.

Weeds were everywhere; it looked like nobody had been here for a long time.

"So boring, can't they pick a more original place..." Tang Rao muttered to himself, seemingly annoyed that bad guys always chose abandoned factories for their schemes—how cliche.

A few minutes later, Tang Rao entered the decrepit factory.

There wasn't a single soul inside, save for the occasional sounds of stray cats and dogs—absolutely no other noise.

"Where is everyone?!" Tang Rao shouted bluntly.

You must have a screw loose to summon me here and not even bother to arrange a few villainous lackeys.

"Is there a living soul here?" Tang Rao walked around for a few minutes and howled again.

Still, there was no response.

"Damn it..." Tang Rao felt cheated as he had been all geared up for a big fight.

Buzz, buzz...

Just when Tang Rao was feeling dispirited, his phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.

It was Jiang Langyue's number calling.

"Hey! You little brat, where are you? Got hit by a car halfway?" Tang Rao cursed as soon as he picked up.

"Tang Rao you son of a bitch, what stupid shit are you spouting? I'm at your place, where the hell are you?!" Jiang Langyue's enraged yell came through the phone.

Tang Rao was momentarily startled, then it hit him like a lightning bolt.

Shit, I've been played.

"Give the old ginseng to Mrs. Chen, then you can leave," Tang Rao shouted angrily, then hung up the phone.

Concern causes chaos, as they say.

Of course, Tang Rao wasn't worried about Jiang Langhuan or Jiang Langyue; it was those old ginseng roots that concerned him. He wouldn't have fallen for it if he wasn't so preoccupied with that old ginseng.

What a blunder, such a disgrace!

Tang Rao was deeply embarrassed; in his years of traversing the Nine Realms and the Seventy-two Domains, he could count on one hand the times he'd been duped.

And yet, this time he had been thoroughly outwitted.

That guy must have cloned Jiang Langyue's phone number. For someone with money, such tricks aren't difficult.

"Brat, you'd better hope I never find out who you are, or I'll beat you so badly even your father won't recognize you," Tang Rao clenched his teeth, his fingers cracking.

"Heh..." Suddenly, a cold snort sounded.

Tang Rao's eyebrows knitted, and he spun around immediately.

A shadowy figure stood thirty meters away, dressed in a loose black robe, with a hood over their head, and a longsword strapped to their back—looking utterly cool and badass.

"Qi-Gathering stage..." Tang Rao slightly squinted his eyes; he could tell from the aura that this person's strength was probably on par with Bai Xiaotong.

"Was I called in to deal with trash like you?" the robed figure spoke coldly.

Tang Rao: "..."

Hey, what kind of comment is that?

I'm good at concealing my strength, you shouldn't be able to see through my real power, right? What makes you think I'm trash?

Such lame posturing, I give you a negative score.

"But since I've been entrusted with a task, I shall fulfil it diligently. Do you choose to take your own life or should I make a move?" The robed person pointed at Tang Rao, their voice cool and their demeanor arrogantly dismissive.

Tang Rao glared, I've been through the Nine Realms and the Seventy-two Domains and I've never seen anyone as defiant as you.

Even ants fight for their lives, commit suicide? How depressed do I have to be to do something that stupid...

"Big brother, at first glance, you are obviously a supreme expert. I think, I'm definitely done for," Tang Rao suddenly swallowed hard and said timidly.

"At least you have some self-awareness. Don't forget when you get to Hell, the one who killed you is me, the Ghost King!" the robed figure proudly declared.

Tang Rao silently cursed in his heart.

Ghost King... you sure have some thick skin.

I do know a Ghost King in the Seventy-two Domains of the Nine Realms, but that guy is already a Seven Tribulations Loose Immortal. Just two more tribulations and he'll become a fully-fledged immortal.

You, at the mere Foundation Establishment stage, do you believe that if the real Ghost King found out you're using his title, he'd make you regret ever being born by your mother!

"Hey, since I'm going down to Hell anyway, can you let me die knowing why? Tell me, who finds me so disagreeable that they want me dead?" Tang Rao whined with a face full of lament, his body full of drama.

The robed Ghost King glanced at Tang Rao twice and snorted lightly.

"Don't want to die wronged?" The robed Ghost King looked at Tang Rao, his face under the hood filled with mockery.

"Yeah, I want to die clear-headed." Tang Rao said.

"Sorry, but I'm someone who likes to make people suffer. I really won't tell you."

Tang Rao: "%¥#@*&"

"Alright, it's about time." The robed Ghost King smirked, then suddenly lunged forward.

His robe fluttered noisily in the air.

The Ghost King was actually quite displeased at the moment; he was supposed to send Tang Rao to Hell. But, he had received a signal earlier to spare Tang Rao's life, hence, he could not use a lethal strike, only knock him unconscious.

Seeing the robed Ghost King charging over, Tang Rao's muscles tensed up.

He was only at the Foundation Establishment stage after all; it was somewhat challenging for his current state.

Tang Rao's legs began to tremble, his eyes filled with panic, his teeth chatter.

Hands in front of his face, looking like a complete coward.

"Trash!" Seeing Tang Rao like this, the Ghost King spat out in utter disdain.

He really didn't understand why he was sent to deal with such an idiot.

In a flash, the robed Ghost King had already reached Tang Rao, his five fingers stretching out, aiming for Tang Rao's head.

At the very close moment, a cold glint suddenly flashed in the corner of Tang Rao's eye.

Instead of retreating, he charged forward, colliding fiercely into the body of the robed Ghost King.

What!

The robed Ghost King's eyes widened, he never anticipated Tang Rao would lunge at him at the last moment.

"Bang!" Before he could react, a resounding noise accompanied by the smell of gunpowder...

Tang Rao's hand, holding a gun that appeared out of nowhere, shot through the heart.

The robed Ghost King fell down in response, his eyes filled with disbelief.

He... was actually killed just like that, how could it... be...

How could I possibly die.

How could I die at the hands of such trash...

"Idiotic thing." Tang Rao shook off the gun in his hand, which he picked off from an assassin at the food street the other night, incredibly useful indeed.

Just Foundation Establishment stage, huh? Without any defense, who could withstand this thing?

To stop bullets with one's body, you'd need to be above Foundation Establishment stage.

Foundation Establishment stage, you better save it.

In less than ten seconds, the robed Ghost King was dead. With his heart pierced by a bullet, with his Foundation Establishment strength, he had no chance of survival.

"Bang!" Tang Rao fired another shot, this one to the robed Ghost King's forehead.

Yes, he liked to make sure, in case of not being dead and inviting bad luck, Tang Rao liked to hit until someone was truly dead.

Afterward, Tang Rao squatted down, his hand frantically searching.

Couldn't help it, just a reflex from surviving in the Seventy-two Domains.

In the Seventy-two Domains, after killing other Cultivators, definitely got to search them, who knows what kind of treasures they might be hiding on them.

"Damn it, you broke-ass." Two minutes later, Tang Rao spat in disdain.

Apart from that pretty awesome black robe, this guy had nothing but a Longsword on his back, nothing else.
