CHAPTER 12
“Jenaden…”
Diana’s voice quivered in a soft tone.
“Diana…”
He was standing in front of his dream. Jenaden slowly approached her with an incredulous look.
Sarubia passed by him and grabbed Jenaden’s wrist as he tried to go to Diana.
“Your Majesty…”
In the low voice of Sarubia, Jenaden turned his head and looked at her.
“This is the palace. Your Majesty, there might be eyes.”
Sarubia shook her head. Her determined eyes prevented him from moving forward. Jenaden looked at Diana in front of him with trembling eyes.
“You were alive.”
Diana nodded softly.
“Jena–.”
Elaine blocked Diana from calling Jenaden. He looked at Jenaden with keen eyes and opened his mouth.
“What’s the matter with my sister, Your Majesty?”
“Prince Haydn, were you from the Costell family?”
Elaine nodded in response to Jenaden’s question.
Elaine Haydn, he was from the same Costell family as Diana.
Sarubia’s eyes, which were listening, grew wide.
“Then you and Diana…”
“We are twin brothers and sisters.”
Twins?
I’ve never heard of the Costell family having twins before the regression.
When Sarubia turned her head and looked at Jenaden, he was staring with wide eyes, surprised, as if he had never heard of it.
“I’ve never heard of Diana having a twin brother.”
At his words, Diana gripped the hem of Elaine’s coat.
“Isn’t it better to ask how I’m alive?”
Diana’s eyes were filled with resentment toward Jenaden. Jenaden lowered his head without saying a word. Elaine smiled coldly at him.
“In the midst of a terrible life, we were lucky to meet our current mother and were adopted into Haydn Street. And I became the next Duke of Haydn.”
I’ve lived with reluctance because I couldn’t die. How much pain have I gone through to get here?
Elaine bit his lips tightly.
Looking at his sharpness, which was different from before, Sarubia asked, “Why did you show up now?”
“If we had said we were alive then, could we have survived until now?”
“Stop it, brother.”
Diana looked up at Elaine and spoke, shaking her head as if to say no more.
“I’m sorry.”
Elaine patted Diana on the head. Diana smiled sharply at her and then looked at Jenaden. Her emerald eyes were filled with hostility.
“Jenaden… No, Your Majesty… I’ll leave you for the day.”
“Diana, where are you going? Talk to me more!”
As Jenaden reached out as if to hold onto Diana, Elaine shook his hand hard. Sarubia, who was watching, clenched her lips and shouted.
“Stop it, Your Majesty! This is the palace!”
Jenaden’s hand paused in the air. Such a small disturbance might soon be heard by the Duke of Bronar.
Elaine smiled at Jenaden.
“If you want to talk more, please come to our Duke of Haydn.”
Elaine turned around, hugging Diana’s shoulder. Diana and Jenaden met eyes, but she turned away as if to avoid him.
“We won’t run away anymore.”
He left those words and left with Diana. Jenaden, who was left behind, clenched his fist. The fact that Diana and Elaine were twins was a shock to him. And it was a surprise to learn that they had been adopted into Haydn Street.
So, what did Sarubia say about letting you meet Diana?
Jenaden turned and looked at Sarubia. She also didn’t seem to know that Diana and Elaine were twins. Did she deceive herself? Jenaden snapped at Sarubia in an angry voice.
“Sarubia, did you know?”
“No, I didn’t know she had twin brothers.”
“And I didn’t know she was adopted into the Haydn family.”
Sarubia swallowed the last words.
“Did you lie to me?”
“Why do you think I lied?”
“You didn’t even know she was adopted into Haydn Street…….”
Jenaden’s sharp eyes made Sarubia feel as though her heart was being pierced. Sarubia’s neck was chilled. We must get out of this situation, one way or another.
“I knew she was adopted. But I didn’t think he was the Duke of Haydn. Just as I was going to investigate…she appeared.”
Sarubia quickly continued.
“I was foolish. I was going to see her and His Majesty in a little while.”
She smirked.
“I didn’t expect Diana to show up so soon.”
“Nor did I expect her to be adopted by the duke.” Sarubia sighed quietly and shook her head regretfully. Jenaden stared at her and then turned his head.
“I’m too emotional.”
“What are you going to do now?”
Sarubia alluded to Jenaden. Jenaden stared at the pine tree where Diana had been standing. His expression looked very confused.
One side of Sarubia’s heart ached watching Jenaden.
“I don’t know yet. I just need to think about it.”
Jenaden had a headache because of what had happened suddenly.
“Your Majesty, I have a favor to ask you.”
“What is it?”
Sarubia opened her mouth with an eager look.
“Please don’t let Diana enter the palace until everything is perfect.”
As soon as she enters the palace with hasty judgment, the Duke of Bronar will point his sword at Jenaden, as well as Sarubia. But if Jenaden’s heart and her adopted daughter, who was worthy of use, becomes useless… Sarubia was afraid of what would come next.
“…I see.”
Jenaden nodded reluctantly.
“Then I’m going in.”
Sarubia said, adjusting her collar. Her body, which had been full of tension, trembled as if it were loosening.
“I hope you’ll be wise…”
Just in case, Sarubia once again made the request.
I couldn’t fight the Duke of Bronar properly and lose everything.
Please, don’t let it go to the worst.
Sarubia prayed to God.

A drawing room in Haydn Street
Standing in front of the window and staring out, Elaine turned around and looked at Diana.
Diana, sitting on the sofa, put the cup down on the table and spoke.
“Jenaden will arrive soon.”
“No way, I didn’t expect him to come so soon.”
Jenaden had sent a letter to Diana without anyone knowing. It was about meeting and talking once. Diana immediately responded by asking him to visit Haydn Street. Soon after, Jenaden announced that he would visit Haydn without anyone knowing.
That was today.
“Are you nervous because he’s about to come?” Diana asked shortly afterwards.
“Well, you and I have the same goal, don’t we?”
“It took me a long time to get here.”
“But are you sure you don’t mind? Even if you go into the palace.”
“I was prepared for it. So don’t worry. Elaine.”
Diana’s eyes, which had smiled at him, cooled. How can I forget? Even now, when I close my eyes, I remember the time clearly.
“You too… I too…” When can we get out of the past?”
“When they’re all ruined?”
“Diana.”
Elaine, who had been about to speak, turned his head to the sound of a horse’s cry outside the window and looked outside. A man in a black robe was getting off a black horse.
“You’re here.”
Elaine’s eyes were frosty as he looked at the man.
***
“You’re here.”
Elaine came to meet him at the door and welcomed him. Jenaden, who had taken off his black robe, nodded at Elaine.
“If you’re asking for Diana, she’s already in the drawing room.”
“I see.”
“Thank you for coming. The drawing room is over there.”
Elaine headed straight to the drawing room with Jenaden. Elaine opened the drawing-room door and signaled Jenaden as if to enter.
Jenaden carefully entered the drawing room. On the sofa in the middle of the room, Diana was sitting still, staring ahead. It wasn’t a dream. She was really in front of him.
Jenaden was overwhelmed with emotion when he saw her missing figure.
“Diana”
At his call, Diana slowly turned her head and looked at Jenaden.
“Jenaden.”
“I didn’t expect to see you again like this.”
Jenaden couldn’t forget. The memory of that day… He cried endlessly in front of Count Costel’s house, which had burned down and left only ashes. He punched the ground and was angry and sad. It didn’t hurt even when blood drops were visible from his skin. His heart ached even more.
“I’m so happy to meet you.”
Diana rose from her seat and slowly approached him. Her white hand dropped slightly onto Jenaden’s cheek. Jenaden raised his hand and wrapped it around hers.
“Me, too. I’m very happy.”
“Jenaden, I have a favor to ask.”
Diana’s eyes sparkled. Jenaden nodded as if he would listen to anything.
“I want to enter the palace. I want to be next to you…”
“Diana, that’s….”
“Will you do that for me? You won’t abandon me like you did then, will you?”
Looking at Diana’s eyes, which seemed to shed tears at any moment, Jenaden bit his lips. He was determined not to repeat the same mistake if he could meet her again. And like a lie, Diana really appeared in front of him.
‘Please, I hope you’ll be wise…’ The voice of Sarubia was heard. A voice that seemed to ask him not to give up her trust in himself. Jenaden was torn between love and trust. At the crossroads, he eventually chose one.
***
Where is it worse than this time?
“What?”
Did I hear it wrong?
Sarubia looked up at Asta. As he nodded as if to say it again, Asta faltered and told the story.
“The rumors are already spreading in the palace. He’s the hero of the Haydn family….”
Like this.
Sarubia placed the teacup on the table. Her eyes trembled.
The worst that shouldn’t have happened had eventually come to pass.
‘Jenaden, what the hell is he…!’
Sarubia stormed out of the room.
“Your Majesty!”
Asta called her from behind in surprise, but Sarubia didn’t mind and quickly moved to the central palace where the emperor’s office was located.
What a stupid man!
Even before the return, Jenaden had been crazy about love and avenged himself, and eventually killed himself. Why didn’t I realize in advance that he’s still crazy about love? She hasn’t fought the Duke of Bronar properly yet, and Jenaden foolishly brought his first love into the palace.
That’s none other than an empress.
Sarubia pinched her lips. Standing in front of the emperor’s office with breathless steps, Sarubia held the doorknob with both hands without hesitation.
