The Right Way to Raise an Uchiha

Chapter 3: CHAPTER 3

Crossing Over? Rebirth?

Ninja World, Fire Country, Konohagakure.

As one of the most prestigious clans in Konoha, the Uchiha family owns a vast expanse of clan land within the village.

At this moment, within the Uchiha district, in a modest residence, a two-year-old boy sat on the steps of the backyard. His small face was clouded with confusion, his tiny hands occasionally scratching his head in frustration.

Eventually, the boy let out a deep sigh, resigning himself to reality.

"So... I've really crossed over?"

He muttered to himself, uncertainty flickering in his dark eyes. Then, as if reconsidering, he murmured,

"Or... is this a rebirth? Ugh, whatever. There's no point in overthinking it."

That's right—this boy had a secret. He wasn't originally from this world. Or rather, his soul wasn't. In his previous life, he had been an ordinary college student from another world, a place called Tokyo. Back there, he was known as Yamato Reo, an elite student at a top-ranked university, pursuing a double degree in biology and medicine. He had always been a bookworm, deeply engrossed in various fantasy novels, where powerful beings could manipulate the elements, move mountains, and overturn seas.

One fateful night, Yamato Reo had stayed up too late binge-reading a novel. At some point, exhaustion must have claimed him because, before he knew it, he had lost consciousness—only to awaken here, in the body of a two-year-old child.

A child of the Uchiha Clan.

Strangely, ever since this unexpected awakening, Uchiha Kenji felt an unusual clarity of mind. His memory had sharpened considerably—he could recall details with greater precision. Although he didn't possess any supernatural photographic memory, he noticed that after carefully reviewing something three or four times, he could recall it almost perfectly.

Another reason he was so aware of the Sharingan's power was due to his parents. Unlike most, they never concealed their Sharingan from him. In fact, they would frequently activate it in his presence, almost proudly, while educating him about its power and the glory of the Uchiha Clan.

This was his new reality.

Uchiha Kenji clenched his tiny fists, his dark eyes flickering with determination.

If he had been granted a second life in this dangerous world, then he would make the most of it.

Uchiha kenji also guessed that he had undergone a significant transformation—his soul had grown stronger. In addition, he had inherited the memories of his previous life, further enhancing his spiritual strength.

However, these changes were not the most important thing.

What truly concerned Uchiha kenji now was the reality of the world he had been reborn into.

Since childhood, kenji had gradually assimilated many of Yamato Reo's memories. Even at just two years old, he had already mastered the language of this world, allowing him to communicate normally and move around without issue. Based on his limited knowledge, if his assumptions were correct, he had been reborn in the world of the popular anime Naruto from his previous life!

"Damn it! How did I end up in a world like this?"

The ninja world was known for its brutality, especially in the early years. To make matters worse, he was reborn into the Uchiha clan—one of the strongest, yet most ill-fated families in history.

Every time he thought about his identity, Uchiha kenji felt a headache coming on.

The Uchiha clan… a clan destined for destruction at the hands of that man. He couldn't help but worry that one day, he would wake up to find that he was standing in front of him, ready to deal the fatal blow.

For days, Uchiha kenji wrestled with thoughts about his future. But finally, he made up his mind. His expression turned resolute, and he gritted his teeth.

"Enough! If I must live in the ninja world, I will be a ninja. In a place like this, without power, you are nothing more than prey. And if I want to gain strength, becoming a ninja is the best path."

With his resolve set, Uchiha kenji began planning his future.

"First and foremost, I must avoid standing out as a genius. At any point in history, the Uchiha clan's relationship with Konoha has been strained. As an orphan, if I am too talented, I will either be recruited by the Hokage's faction or isolated by the village. Either way, it will bring endless trouble."

He established a plan to keep a low profile, but then chuckled self-deprecatingly.

"Hah, I don't even know my talent yet, and I'm already worrying about whether I should hide it or not."

But in the next moment, Uchiha kenji dismissed his self-mockery and regained his confidence.

"In my past life, I was a genius. Even in a world of cultivation, I would have made a name for myself. Moreover, I have the advantage of a strong soul. And most importantly… I am an Uchiha. I have my past-life memories. As long as I don't suffer from sheer bad luck, unlocking the Mangekyō Sharingan shouldn't be too far-fetched, right? Uh… not too far-fetched, I hope…"

With his confidence restored, Uchiha kenji resumed planning for the future.

After briefly considering his future goals, Uchiha kenji got up and returned home.

"Planning things out too much is unreliable. It's enough to have a general direction. For now, I should pack up and eat first. My parents just passed away recently, and there are a lot of things to deal with. I'll take some time to properly assess my situation later."

For the next few days, he needed to gather information. Understanding the exact time period he was in was crucial.

"From what I recall, the tension between the Uchiha clan and Konoha isn't too severe yet. There are no signs of a coup being planned, so it should still be early."

As he prepared a meal, Uchiha kenji muttered to himself.

In his past life, he had been a top student, and in this life, his parents had often been away. Since he was old enough to walk and understand basic tasks, he had been cooking for himself. His skills in the kitchen were decent—nothing extravagant, but sufficient.

Looking at the food before him, Uchiha kenji began to eat.

Even though he had accepted his circumstances and temporarily calmed down, he couldn't help but fantasize about his future success in training—wielding immense power, capable of shaking the world with a single move.

"Then there's the Sharingan... I wonder when I'll awaken it. Those novels were all lies—awakening it at six years old, or jumping straight to the Three-Tomoe stage after losing one's parents? That doesn't seem to be the case at all."

Both of his parents had awakened their Sharingan, meaning his bloodline should be fine. Yet despite the emotional shock of their deaths, his eyes showed no sign of activating.

"So awakening the Sharingan isn't just about intense emotional distress… There must be other conditions. A lot of the knowledge I had in my past life can only serve as a reference."

He paused for a moment, considering.

"Could it be Chakra? I haven't even started training to unlock my Chakra yet. How could I awaken the Sharingan before that? That'd be like trying to eat without having food."

Despite eating his meal, Uchiha kenji would stop from time to time to mutter to himself.

"Oh? kenji already prepared food on his own. He really is a good boy. But what were you muttering about just now?"

Just as he finished speaking to himself, a gentle voice sounded from behind.

Uchiha kenji's body tensed for a moment before quickly recovering. "Ah, it's nothing. I was just reviewing the taste of the food. Haha."

Even as he brushed it off, he made a mental note:

"I really need to be more careful. I can't say everything out loud. Thinking about things in my head is enough. Luckily, she didn't hear me clearly this time. If someone overheard a two-year-old talking about awakening the Sharingan and past lives, that'd be a disaster."

Turning around, he saw an elderly woman standing at the doorway, holding a basket in her hands.

She was his neighbor. After his parents passed away, she had been the one to check in on him and take care of him when he was lost in grief.

Uchiha kenji was grateful for her kindness. Without her help in those first couple of days, he wasn't sure how he would have managed.

With his assistance, the elderly woman stepped into the kitchen, her gaze sweeping over the room. A look of sympathy crossed her face.

"kenji, life and death are part of fate. Don't be too sad. Your parents, watching from the afterlife, would want you to live happily."

She hesitated before continuing.

"In a few days, someone from the clan will come to arrange for you to move into the Uchiha orphanage. If you don't want to go, I can talk to them and take care of you myself."

Touched by her concern, Uchiha kenji was silent for a moment before shaking his head.

"Thank you, Grandma, but I can manage on my own. Look—I can already cook for myself."

Seeing his determination, the old woman sighed but did not press the issue. Instead, she placed the basket on the dining table.

"These are some meals I prepared for you. Since you already cooked, you can save them for later. Don't worry, I made sure to keep them warm. If you ever get hungry, come to my house, and I'll cook for you anytime."

With those words, she turned and left.

Watching her retreating figure, Uchiha kenji felt warmth spread in his heart.

"So, not all Uchiha are arrogant or cold. There are plenty of kind people in the clan too."
