Chapter 531: Chapter 531: The Far-Sighted Crow God
"So, what do you want me to do? Submit to him now and let him control me?" The Wolf God retorted, posing a pointed question. "And how can you be sure this Titan will reach the Epic tier? We can't help him fight in the Void; he'll be on his own. If he falls, we..."
"Would become a laughingstock among the gods, right?" The Crow God interjected. Despite its relatively young age for a deity, it had lived through long enough ages to gain considerable wisdom. Being a god of order, not chaos, it possessed foresight matching its power. It understood the potential outcomes of investing in a Legendary Titan.
"Indeed, achieving the Epic tier is no easy feat. You know that as well as I do." The Frost Wolf God's gaze was deep and distant, reflecting the demeanor fitting for a god, even if it originated from an extraordinary beast.
"Sometimes, we need to take a gamble. Ultimately, you can't let go of your pride, which stops you from ingratiating yourself with a Legendary Titan. Even if he were an Epic Titan, it seems you'd still be reluctant." The Crow God continued to hop around joyfully, as if oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
"But sometimes, we have to make necessary compromises and sacrifices. We don't have many choices. Even if it's not for yourself, think about your kin. If you fall, what will become of them? They'll return to the dire times before you became a god, when humans, frost giants, and white dragons—any slightly stronger creature on the Depollosen continent—could hunt them for food or their fur for warmth."
"Enough!" The Frost Wolf God growled lowly, as if the Crow God's words had triggered some unpleasant memories from before it attained godhood. "I will not fall, absolutely not. I am the Frost Wolf God, the eternal guardian of the frost wolves."
"Empty slogans are useless; you need to take concrete actions and make some sacrifices," the Crow God retorted mercilessly. It saw through matters more clearly than the proud Wolf God because it was a deity that didn't care about face or reputation. It valued practical and tangible benefits over the opinions of other gods.
"I've already rejected him. Do you expect me to take it back, or for the Titan to forget our conversation?" The Frost Wolf God glared at the giant crow.
"If you can't do it, then let me handle it. Inform him of the frost giant tribe that worships me. I'll talk to him. I'll bear the shame and let the gods laugh at me for flattering a Legendary Titan!"
"It's decided. You can't stop me." The Crow God looked at the Wolf God with determination. "This Titan is different; his behavior isn't like other Titans. He seems ambitious. Even if you don't tell him, he'll eventually find my crow tribe."
"Different how? He's just a half-blood. If you're going to place a bet, find a stronger Titan. He's too weak. There aren't many Titans, but they're not impossible to find."
"You still don't get the opportunity I mentioned. This Titan is unlike any other. Have you ever seen a Titan willingly subjugate giants? And which Titan has ever accepted the help of two minor gods?"
"So, there's no other suitable candidate?"
"Currently, it appears so." The Crow God flapped its wings twice. "Besides, from what I understand, this half-blood Titan is even more special than pure-blood Titans."
"I know. He was the catalyst for the Godslayer War, leading to the fall of those gods. This indicates that the Titans value him and don't look down on him for being a half-blood."
"Of course not. Apart from Titan blood, his other half comes from a newly crowned Dragon King. This half-blood Titan might symbolize an alliance between the Titans and the metallic dragons. His existence could further strengthen the Titan's influence. Think about it—if we associate with him, even that bitch Auril, who has been eyeing us lately, wouldn't dare to provoke us."
...
"Titan, what's your name?" The Wolf God's avatar asked Muria while his true form discussed and debated with the Crow God in his divine realm.
"Muria Iapetos Elonsas!" Muria announced his full name as a sign of respect. However, his actions—treating a god's avatar as a pet to be petted—showed not a shred of reverence for the deity.
"And you? How should I address you, Frost Wolf God?"
"Do you want to call me by my divine name?" The Wolf God gave Muria a nuanced look.
"What else? Do you expect me to kneel and proclaim 'Great Frost Wolf God'?"
"Ridiculous notion," the Wolf God remarked. "But if you're willing to do so, I won't refuse."
"Just a joke, and you took it seriously." Muria scoffed lightly. "So, what's your name? If you don't tell me, I'll call you Samoyed."
"Samoyed? What's that?" The Wolf God's mouth slightly opened, sensing something off about the term.
"Well, it's a common name for white-furred wolf-like creatures. It's a term from another continent, so it's normal if you haven't heard of it." Muria lied smoothly, with no hint of discomfort.
"Then I should have heard of it." The Frost Wolf God couldn't think of any other white-furred wolves in the entire Erathia world. Wolves, being predators, often had fur colors that helped them blend into their environment, aiding in hunting.
"The world is vast; there are always things you don't know about." Muria chuckled. "Don't sweat it, Samoyed. What do you think of my earlier proposal?"
"It's quite acceptable; we can reach an agreement." Muria had proposed a new way to compensate the Wolf God: granting the frost wolves the freedom to breed and live without being hunted in his territory. This was an offer the Wolf God couldn't refuse. Thus, the frost giant leader Frostfang became Muria's enforcer, under the deity's name.
