The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 78: The Last Supper

"Yeah, yeah, so…"

Finn kept yapping about alchemy, and everyone around him was pretty much ignoring him at this point.

It was a surprise to them that his mouth didn't fall off from the amount of yapping he was doing.

"…I went to visit the Sea Fairy Lake yesterday, and I caught a massive fish. It must weigh like 20 kilos. Shame that I had to let it go; I don't have a place to sell it at Dark Jewel's Corner."

Julian, the tanned young man with sun-bleached hair, said with a deep sigh.

Back on Earth, he was a marine biologist, and he always preferred to stay close to water, and the dry land bored him.

When he was done with the school, he planned to head over to Ketherdam, the ever-famous fishing city, and its Humanity Waters.

It was the place he would've already gone to if it weren't for this school, but staying in this school was worthwhile.

He had learned a lot, especially the concept of fighting, which was important for him as Fighter, and to advance in Fighter Pathway, it was important to be good at fighting.

"You're graduating in a month, aren't you, Julian?"

Elias asked with his unruly curled brown hair slightly falling over his forehead, casting a shadow over his intense blue eyes.

"Yes."

Julian said, stabbing the fork into his salad, and then took munching bites off the fresh lettuce.

"You've been talking about Ketherdam. Is that where you are heading off to? You plan to become a fisherman over in Humanity Waters?"

Elias asked.

"That's the plan. I'll join the Fishermen Guild. Those waters have been proven to be quite treacherous with the sea monsters, the storms that came from nowhere, and evil pirates.

"It's required these days for fishermen to know how to fight. Otherwise, one isn't allowed to take a ship to those waters, as it is equal to suicide.

"I'll probably join someone else's crew, gain some experience, and in maybe ten years, I can make my own crew."

Julian said.

He already had his future mapped out, and he was already excited to start that journey.

"Is it really true that the evil pirates of the Humanity Waters are blessed with the Evil God of the Seas, Storms, and Monsters? I've heard that they're part of another Pathway that is outside the Ten Main Pathways.

"Pirate Pathway, so I've heard."

Finn said excitedly, finally ending his hour-long yapping marathon about the alchemy.

"So I've heard. The pirating started when Earthlings came to Whitesky, and those who failed to get recognized by the Main Gods left for the seas, and I don't know who started it, but the wave of piracy was insane.

"It was like a plague that spread across the ocean. I know that there are some incredibly powerful pirates, and I don't know if they got blessed or what."

Julian said.

"I'll respect you for going there knowing that it's extremely dangerous. It's much safer to stay on the mainland with only occasional monster attacks and Rav'akari to worry about.

"Humanity Waters, on the other hand, has sea monsters that can eat your ship in all its entirety and the evil pirates who either kill you or put a slave collar around your neck.

"There have even been sightings of Rav'akari in Humanity Waters, sailing under their own flag."

Owen said.

"Didn't Rav'akari originally come from behind the Wall? They came from the Deceased Wasteland and had to swim across Humanity Waters to reach the mainland."

Jeff said.

"…Yes. I am not scared, though. The water is where I belong, and who knows, maybe next time you see me, I'll be the Master of the Fishermen Guild!"

Julian said with a cheeky smile.

He had thoughts of grandeur and dreams of success swirling inside his mind.

"Ravagers… That's what you call Rav'akari as. They're a horrible race, and we all should make our main mission to kill as many of them as we can before dying."

Felix said with his stoic expression.

He brought a more-of-a-serious vibe to the conversation, which was half-light and half-serious just a moment ago, but he made it fully serious.

"I respect you, Julian, for going to Humanity Waters to battle against evil. It's what we all should do. I know that once I am gone from here, I'll take my fists, and head out to eradicate every Ravager I see."

With his left hand, he lifted a cup of foaming beer to his mouth and drank it all.

It was obvious that he had already drunk more than he should've, so he was just saying things, but those words came from his heart.

"…You're thirty years old, Felix. You've been in this school for eight years already, more than anyone here, and still, you haven't left.

"Just admit that you're scared to leave these walls behind. If you're so hellbent on killing every Ravager, why are you still here?"

Jeff asked.

He didn't mind his words one bit, and he was just brutally honest, which some liked, and few didn't.

"…What did you say?"

Felix turned his cold gaze over to him, but Jeff didn't flinch, even though the Primal gaze of Felix was intense.

"Alright, enough, both of you. That wasn't very nice, Jeff."

Elias said.

"…Hmph. Thirty years old, and he is only level three… With that kind of speed, he'll be High Ranker when he is forty years old… He won't be able to kill any Ravager with that kind of strength."

Jeff said mockingly.

Felix jumped to his feet, his cheeks flushed in anger, but the stares of others stabbed into him like daggers.

They believed Jeff's words about him just being scared to go out there in the wild to fight Rav'akari after hearing about all the horrible things they had done.

They weren't wrong either.

While Felix was just an apprentice firefighter back on Earth, he had come across walls of fire before, but once he came to Whitesky, his bravery shattered after each passing day.

In just his first day of being in Whitesky, when he was traversing to Dark Jewel's Corner, he came across a Corpse Collector wagon with corpses piled at the back.

The male corpses looked mangled with their eyes gouged out, and the female corpses were strangled with hand marks around their throats, and their female parts were mutilated.

It shook his resolve greatly.

"…"

Felix stayed quiet, turned around, and left the dining hall despite Arthur telling him to stay, but he didn't listen to the headmaster and kept walking away.

"…"

Kael sipped on the drink, and he thought that Jeff would've made a fine Outlaw with his ability to make enemies with just words.

He also thought that Felix must've become Primal before his bravery got hit, and he turned into a coward.

Primals were supposed to be brave, after all, so he wasn't surprised that his speed of advancing in Pathway was so slow.

It was unclear whether he would ever make it into High Ranker with his current mindset of fearing Rav'akari.

"…The food and drink were good."

Kael rubbed his stomach, as he enjoyed the meal greatly, and then thanked Arthur, the headmaster, for the delicious dinner before heading out.

While heading out, he looked into the face of every student present, then turned his gaze away, and walked out.

At that moment, he had no idea that this would be the last dinner that they would have together.
