The Second Chance of Reincarnator

Chapter 79: All Alone With Mirror

Realm Between, Shattered Peninsula, the ruined town.

Kael walked slowly past the dilapidated remains of the town, and since the ground below was all dirt, he checked whether there were any footprints.

There were none, so it was safe to assume that he was alone in the ruined town at this very moment.

'Good…'

Kael arrived at the round mirror table, circled around it until he arrived at his own stone throne, and then he sat down.

"Peeking Mirror…"

He traced his hand across the mirror's edge, and then he looked around himself to make sure there wasn't anyone looking.

'I am all alone…'

With his right hand, he rubbed his chin, which he shaved just this morning, as there was short stubble growing.

He had thought about just growing his beard to make himself look more wild, but he decided to go with a more edgy and younger look.

There wasn't any way of getting piercings in Whitesky, but he planned to take a short trip to Earth some day and get some.

From his own experience, he knew that changing his appearance could drastically alter the way people perceived him.

The easiest way was with tattoos, piercings, and a new hairstyle.

While he wasn't sure whether he would get any tattoos, he was definitely planning to do some ear piercings—like those tiny silver studs.

He shook out of his thoughts, pressed his hand on the mirror, and thought of Gehram, and it didn't take long for the city to show.

It was late in the evening, and it was about to turn dark, so the Lamp Wardens were already lighting up the lamps that were lining the streets.

Kael was able to see it in real time through the Peeking Mirror, and those hooded Lamp Wardens had no idea that he was watching them from above like a god.

It didn't surprise him anymore that the Society of Knowers were treating themselves as something more than just ordinary mortals.

They surely believed that they were made for a greater purpose.

"Now… There is only one thing I am really curious about, and that's Miss Angelica. I don't have any other pressing matter in hand."

He touched the mirror, imagined the Miss Angelica he met in the steam locomotive's car, and wanted to see her in the mirror.

However, the scene of Gehram fogged up, and nothing seemed to come to the mirror except the fog.

"It doesn't work? Did I do it wrong? No, I was able to make Gehram show easily, but why doesn't she show?

"Wait… right. I think that amethyst pendulum is able to protect her mind, and I guess it also protects her from the Peeking Mirror as well.

"What a powerful artifact… I would really love to get my hands on that thing."

Kael thought out loud, leaned back against the high-end rest of the stone throne, and crossed his arms in contemplation.

He thought that maybe he could find Miss Angelica by manually searching through the mirror like Morgana did with Otto Harwest.

However, without actually knowing where she was, it was going to be impossible to find her, as Gehram had close to a million people.

'…I could search through the brothels to find Miss Angelica. She might've gone there to get some easy life force, but she would've done that from the start if she wanted to do that.

'I don't think she is the type of woman that would lower herself to being a prostitute. It's because of her sensitive nose, and she would definitely avoid places with strong smells like that.

'When I visited the Amour Brothel, I smelled all those candles, perfumes, and all kinds of other smells, which was honestly pretty overwhelming even for me.'

He couldn't do anything else except abandon the idea of finding Angelica with the Peeking Mirror.

It was impossible to find her.

'…Hmm, I could check out Leroy. In case he wants revenge, you know, it should be good to know.'

Kael put his hand on the mirror, and the fog cleared until it showed Leroy clearly—he was rubbing the grime off some of the clothes in a steamy laundry room.

The steam was coming from the lava rocks below the floor, as this black-rocked cellar also led to an underground hot spring.

While sweating profusely, Leroy scratched the bandage that went over his missing left eye, as it was itching annoyingly.

"…Put your back to it!"

A shout came from the back—it came from Corpus Mundi's cleaning master, who was responsible for keeping their gear, clothes, and weapons well-maintained.

"Yes…"

Leroy whispered with a tiny bit of venom in his tone.

He was the secondary tank of the respected Corpus Mundi, but here he was doing the slave task of cleaning, which was below his status.

"You did this to yourself. Master Sabine is not happy with you making enemies out of Genevieve. And you went and lost an eye!

"Corpus Mundi has put plenty of time and effort into training you, and this is how you paid them—by losing your eye, hah!

"They were hoping that you'll become their main tank in the near future once you become High Ranker, but it looks like that is sailing away!"

The cleaning master said with a loud scoff.

"…Tch. I can fight without one eye."

Leroy said, but kept his words low volume so the irritating-sounding cleaning master wouldn't hear him and start another argument.

Kael looked at the scene through the mirror, then tapped the mirror, and it all fogged up again with the sounds fading away.

'…It looks like Corpus Mundi is making him responsible for his behavior in the Amour Brothel. I am impressed.

'When I heard from Dorian that Leroy was part of Corpus Mundi, which is apparently a powerful guild, I was worried that they might go after me.

'It looks like they won't be doing that, but I still should steer clear of Corpus Mundi whenever I visit Gehram in the future.'

Kael thought, stood up from the stone throne, and he had enough of looking at the mirror for today.

It was a really interesting artifact, he had to admit, and it was pretty much the same as watching television except far more interesting.

He started to understand why the Society of Knowers were so interested in all the drama stuff they could find.
