Chapter 33: Chapter 32: Take a Lot
Chihiro saw that something was wrong and ignored Sakiya, rushing forward.
"Senior Kakashi!"
Kakashi's forehead was drenched in cold sweat as he looked at the monster in front of him.
He was caught.
[Is this where it ends?]
The black tentacles from Kakuzu's body split into several strands, entangling Kakashi's limbs and pulling his arm away from his body.
Kakuzu cruelly lifted Kakashi into the air.
"Kakashi, I'll take your head."
Kakashi, powerless in that moment, could only close his eyes and await death.
[Rin, Obito... I'm coming to you...]
"Senior Kakashi!"
Chihiro watched in horror as Kakashi was suspended in the air, helpless, about to be executed. His face contorted with desperation as he shouted.
"Stop it!"
Ignoring him, Kakuzu gathered chakra into his hand, shaping it into a sharp blade, and thrust it toward Kakashi's heart.
"Eye of Death! Death Stare!"
A dazzling light, like a miniature sun, burst forth instantly!
The intense brightness blinded Kakuzu.
Though his strike had already been launched, something felt wrong—his attack lost all force.
The next moment, he felt his tentacles being severed.
Reacting quickly, he jumped back, waiting for his vision to recover.
His sight returned within seconds.
Now, Kakashi, Chihiro, and Sakiya stood side by side at a safe distance, facing him cautiously.
Neither side made a move immediately.
Chihiro, still gripping her blade, asked warily, "Kakashi-senpai! Are you okay?"
Kakashi, clearly exhausted, responded in a low voice, "I'm fine, but my chakra is almost depleted. This is going to be difficult."
Chihiro's expression grew more serious as she observed Kakuzu.
Kakashi continued, "This guy is strange. I felt my Chidori pierce his heart, but he didn't die. He didn't even react to the injury."
Chihiro's brows furrowed in concern. "Is he immortal? What do we do?"
"We seal him, of course!"
Kakashi and Chihiro turned to Sakiya, who had just spoken.
"That's a good idea, but we don't know how to seal him," Chihiro admitted.
"Me neither," Kakashi sighed.
Sakiya, who had just saved Kakashi, had now been acknowledged as an ally in the fight.
She patted her chest confidently. "I do!"
Kakashi and Chihiro exchanged skeptical glances.
"Don't joke around, Sakiya! Are you serious?" Chihiro asked.
Sakiya pointed at her "Eye of Death."
"Look, my Eye of Death has sealed several powerful demons, including a Dark Demon! This is no big deal!"
Kakashi looked at Chihiro, exasperated. "Can we trust her?"
Chihiro shrugged. "I don't know. But we should prepare for the worst."
Kakuzu stood silently, the eerie masked creatures on his shoulders shifting, dark tendrils spreading around him.
"Looks like playtime's over," he sneered.
Kakashi and Chihiro tensed.
[Is it coming?]
The atmosphere grew heavy with tension.
Suddenly, Sakiya stepped forward and raised her voice confidently.
"Great Dark Demon! Today, my Eye of Death and the Eye of Conviction will seal you!"
The serious mood shattered instantly.
Kakashi and Chihiro both had a row of black lines forming on their foreheads.
Kakuzu smirked in amusement. "Alright, little brat. Let's see you try."
He clasped his hands together.
The masks on his shoulders came alive, spewing fire and lightning.
"Wind Release! Suppression!"
"Lightning Release! False Darkness!"
"Fire Release! Searing Pain!"
Kakuzu transformed into a walking turret, launching an all-out assault!
"Earth Release! Earth Wall!" x3
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The triple-layered earth wall barely slowed the attacks before being obliterated.
The sheer power of Kakuzu's jutsu was overwhelming, but the walls bought enough time for the three to reposition themselves.
Sakiya, Kakashi, and Chihiro instinctively split up, spreading out around Kakuzu.
This forced Kakuzu into a disadvantage—he couldn't attack all three at once.
But...
Kakuzu grinned. "Then I'll take you out one by one."
His gaze locked onto the weakest-looking opponent—Sakiya.
"First, I'll eliminate the weakest."
Kakuzu stepped forward swiftly, charging toward Sakiya at full speed.
But instead of panicking, Sakiya just smiled.
"Konoha-ryu: Wind Blade Mirage!"
In an instant, Sakiya's form blurred, and suddenly, Chihiro was in her place, wielding a ninja blade and striking at Kakuzu with Konoha-style swordsmanship.
But Kakuzu, a veteran of countless battles, handled it with ease.
[Did they swap places using the Transformation Jutsu when the Earth Wall was deployed?]
Eight black tendrils burst from Kakuzu's shoulders, combining with his own extendable arms to
launch a relentless attack on Chihiro.
"It won't matter who you switch with!"
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Chihiro's sword deflected strike after strike, but two tentacles broke through her defense, closing in fast.
"Raikiri!"
A flash of lightning cut through the air.
The black tentacles fell to the ground, severed instantly.
Kakashi, Raikiri still crackling in his hand, had stepped in at the last second.
He had been waiting for an opportunity to land a decisive blow, but now he was forced to reveal himself early to save Chihiro.
Kakuzu's two masked creatures immediately turned their attention to them.
One inhaled deeply—Fire Release!
The other followed—Wind Release!
The firestorm roared forward, amplified by the wind, reaching them in an instant.
Chihiro and Kakashi's eyes widened.
Body Flicker!
At the last moment, they flickered away, barely escaping direct impact.
Still, the resulting explosion sent them tumbling across the ground.
Kakashi's Raikiri dissipated. Chihiro's sword was blasted from her hands, skidding several meters away.
Both of them struggled to push themselves up.
"I'm... out of chakra..." Kakashi muttered.
Chihiro clenched his fists.
"Damn it!"
Kakuzu stared down at them, unimpressed.
"Is that all you've got?"
Chihiro gritted her teeth.
Kakashi didn't reply, simply tightening his grip on a kunai.
"It's ready~!"
A small, cheerful voice rang out.
Kakuzu's gaze shifted.
He had almost forgotten about the little girl.
There she was—Sakiya, standing confidently.
"Death Stare!"
The moment she spoke, Kakuzu instinctively shut his eyes.
Sakiya smirked and waved at Kakashi and Chihiro to retreat.
Kakuzu quickly realized—he had been tricked.
The moment he opened his eyes—
Flash!
A brilliant white light consumed his vision. Sharp pain stabbed through his eyes.
Blinded and enraged, Kakuzu unleashed a barrage of attacks.
Lightning Release! Fire Release! Wind Release!
He bombarded the battlefield indiscriminately, targeting Sakiya's last known position.
The ground was torn apart in an instant.
But Sakiya hadn't kept the blinding effect going for long—just enough time for her real plan.
Kakuzu's vision started to return in a few seconds.
And when it did—he noticed something strange.
A massive pattern had been drawn on the ground.
It bore some resemblance to Hidan's ritual circle but was far more intricate, covering an area over ten meters wide.
And he was standing right in the center of it.
Sakiya beamed with excitement.
"Hehe~ Great Demon! Time for your punishment!"
She raised her small hand and made a dramatic gesture.
The magic circle on the ground suddenly lit up.
"Power of the Death Decree!"
This bizarre and inexplicable technique immediately reminded Kakuzu of that lunatic Hidan.
Without hesitation, he leaped out of the magic circle, wary of whatever unknown jutsu was about to take effect.
Seeing this, Kakashi and Chihiro were momentarily stunned before realization dawned on them.
"...Did that actually work?"
Sakiya grinned triumphantly.
"It's useless!"
The moment Kakuzu landed, another smaller magic circle appeared beneath his feet.
His expression darkened, and without hesitation, one of his masked creatures spewed a Fire Release blast, obliterating the ground below him.
When the flames cleared, Kakuzu stood unharmed in the scorched crater.
"Tch. Enough with the cheap tricks!"
But he wasn't about to take any chances. A third masked creature emerged from his body.
Kakashi and Chihiro tensed in alarm.
"He had another one?!"
Sakiya, however, remained unfazed. She twirled her fingers in the air playfully.
"The Grand Dimensional Seal is complete—you can't escape!"
A massive magic circle materialized in the sky, its intricate patterns glowing with an eerie light.
Kakashi and Chihiro gawked at the overwhelming spectacle.
"W-What is this?!"
Even Kakuzu hesitated, his battle-hardened instincts screaming caution.
That jutsu looked far too elaborate to be anything weak.
Then, suddenly—
Gurgle… gurgle…
The faint sound of bubbling water echoed.
Thin streams of water slithered through the air, weaving together to form an intricate liquid veil, surrounding Kakuzu completely.
Chihiro's eyes widened.
"That's... Sakiya's Water Release technique!"
Kakashi nodded slightly, impressed despite himself.
"Her chakra control is on another level..."
Chihiro glanced at Kakashi.
"Senpai, let me help Sakiya."
Kakuzu's eyes flickered as he noticed countless flowing sheets of water forming around him.
Then—
"Konoha-ryuu Secret Technique—Draw Slash!"
A shadow flashed across the water's surface—Chihiro!
The flowing water reflected countless images of her, creating an illusion of multiple attackers.
Kakuzu reacted instantly.
"Earth Release—Hardening!"
He barely managed to reinforce his body before—
Clang!
A sharp metallic ring echoed.
A deep gash appeared across Kakuzu's chest.
"Tch. More of these annoying little tricks."
His three masked entities charged up energy.
"Earth Grudge Fear—Final Barrage!"
Fire. Wind. Lightning.
A devastating explosion of chakra erupted forward.
A wave of firestorm engulfed everything, lightning crackling within the blast.
The fan-shaped devastation spread fast.
Chihiro's eyes widened.
"Damn!"
Nowhere to run.
Just as the attack was about to hit, a glowing pattern appeared beneath her feet.
A small hand emerged from the ground—grabbing her ankle.
Yank!
Chihiro was pulled underground in an instant.
As the explosion roared above, a shadow clone of Sakiya dissolved into smoke.
Chihiro immediately understood.
"A shadow clone... plus the Decapitating Technique!"
The powerful fusion of ninjutsu tore through the battlefield, obliterating everything in its path.
The ground itself was carved open, leaving a trail of destruction.
Yet—
Kihana Sakiya stood there, unshaken, facing Kakuzu.
Her expression remained calm.
"You're really strong, huh, Demon King?"
She sighed dramatically.
"Looks like I can't use my strongest moves just yet."
Kakuzu narrowed his eyes.
"Kids these days… how are they this strong?"
Sakiya thought to herself.
[Looks like I've shown a little too much. But normal techniques won't work against him…]
---
Meanwhile, Naruto, Sasuke, and the others kept running.
They could still see their teammates—friends like Tsuchiya Tsukigami and Sakuragi—right beside them.
Naturally, they assumed Sakiya was following too.
Until—
Tsuchiya Tsukigami turned around by chance.
And realized—
Sakiya was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey! Have you seen—" He hesitated. "—Sakiya?"
Sakuragi came to an abrupt stop.
Tsuchiya dug his heels in, braking hard.
His voice was serious.
"She's not with us. She must've stayed behind!"
"Then let's go back for her!"
Tsuchiya's fists clenched.
But from their vantage point, they could already see explosions in the distance.
Smoke. Fire. Roaring chakra.
Sakuragi swallowed.
"Are you sure?"
Tsuchiya nodded.
"Of course."
Naruto and the others noticed the hesitation.
Sasuke, however, was against going back.
Arguments broke out.
Yet, Tsuchiya and Sakuragi didn't wait.
They ran back.
"It's fine," Tsuchiya muttered under his breath.
"If we die… we just die again."
