The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth

Chapter 116: The First General

Ragna and Vacuse rode together.

But almost immediately, Ragna's mount sped up and created space between them. The Commander quietly and smoothly disappeared among the ranks of the warriors with his men, leaving only the diplomatic group alone to continue following Vacuse.

At the same time, the warriors began to shout the name of their clan.

"Warbines!"

"Warbines!"

"Warbines!"

"Warbines!"

The shouting was far from what the warriors did outside the fortress gate. This time, it was as if the sound was coming from the ground, the sky, and all around them.

So strong it shook the ground and made pebbles tremble. It was an impressive chant that penetrated the body to the bones. It terrified the enemies and made the allies bold of heart.

Captain Mera's expression turned unsightly. The way the warriors stood atop their hyenas, looking down on her and everyone, made them twitch with irritation.

She wasn't the only one. All the humans felt smaller than usual, and the chant from the warriors wasn't helping either.

Only Vacuse seemed completely unaffected. He even openly looked at the warriors as if he was checking out a weapon on display.

After all, the parade was made for them. Why shouldn't they enjoy it?

So he smiled and even waved his hand now and then.

Just then, something began to happen to the ranks of warriors.

Their hyenas began to react strangely as they felt a resonating energy from the hyena that Vacuse was riding. Thus, they began to move toward him.

The strange happening caused the whole warrior formation to start turning disorganized, and their chanting was instantly cut off as they focused on keeping their mounts from rushing off.

But each of the monsters' heads was turned toward Vacuse, making it unmistakable where they were going.

Vacuse laughed and called to Ragna. "You really prepared a lot of interesting things for us!"

Ragna's smile had turned so stiff that he stopped smiling entirely, and his eyes were now cold.

The situation was turning more perilous by the second as the Orcs started to use different tactics to keep the monsters under control.

It was then that the First General finally moved. He looked up, and his attention seemed settled as if he was finally present.

Immediately, he captured every single thing in the fortress, and without saying a single thing, everyone trembled and froze.

It didn't matter the type of Advancement Stage they were in, they all stilled.

The monsters snapped out of what was affecting them and returned to their places with their tails between their legs.

'...the fifth stage!...' Rith said in his mind.

Vacuse understood. That was the Sovereign Ascended. Even Duke Frexon wasn't that powerful, and that was because even though he was an S-ranked, he was still in the fifth stage, the same as the A-ranked Dragon Lord.

The difference in power between the two stages was like heaven and land.

'...don't make him angry, Vacuse. He's powerful...'

Vacuse took Rith's warning to heart instantly. It was for his own sake after all. It was for the safety of his life. His eyes were now entirely focused on the man who sat on the throne-like chair.

Vacuse couldn't see his eyes well; it was as if a wild flame of rippling energy was covering them, completely warping everything around that area.

'...he's powerful and he's not doing anything to hide it... the Orcs have been hiding their true powers, from the fortress to the level of power of the First General...

'...but why do they choose to reveal anything now?...'

That question troubled Vacuse.

Soon, they reached the front of the First General and the platform.

Ragna reached it first, and he stared at his uncle.

Surprisingly, the First General stood up and bowed low. "Heir of Warbines, I bid you welcome."

Vacuse was shocked.

The Orcs followed a strict line of command, especially toward their ruling family. But it was still a shocking thing to see someone as powerful as the First General bowing to someone he could crush with a single look.

Vacuse felt bitterness then. If only the humans were like that, then things with the Eastern Region would have been easily dealt with.

Conversely, some people—four males who were on the platform—also stood and bowed, although they didn't say anything.

Vacuse received his second shock.

Although he had never met them before, he knew those four old men were Agba, the Elders. For them to have come to the fortress instead of allowing the diplomatic group to come to the clan capital meant that things weren't going to go as planned.

Ragna smiled. "You look as well as always, Uncle. Have you been guarding the borders well?"

The First General only grunted, and his eyes turned to Vacuse. Finally, the energy surrounding him disappeared, and his face appeared.

He was a middle-aged Orc with tusks that curled out like swords, his grey skin darker than most, and his eyes shone with a constant, steady glow.

Vacuse gritted his teeth, but a slight smile appeared on his face as he came down. He didn't bow, his back straight like the spine of a sword. "It is my pleasure to meet you, First General."

The First General's eyes glittered, red like wet blood. "How does it feel to see the red eyes on someone more powerful than anyone in the Vorrakyn?"

The Vorrakyn in the Dragon Guards immediately stiffened and seethed, but Vacuse only shrugged. "I feel disappointed. If you were a Vorrakyn, then you would have been a Dragon."

The General looked at him flatly. "Being a Dragon hasn't helped you Vorrakyn."

Vacuse returned his gaze calmly. "A Dragon is a Dragon. And everything else... are things else."

That finally got a reaction from him, and he snorted. "A Dragon without power is a lizard."

Vacuse's hand went to the hyena monster almost unconsciously, but immediately his hand touched it, the monster sank to its knees and showed its neck in a submissive way.

Vacuse smiled again. "And yet, a Dragon is still a Dragon."
