Chapter 363: Effortless Kills
In the back of the cave, there was a colossal golem.. It was obvious that it was much stronger than the rest, so Evangeline decided to inspect it.
—Medium Grade Demonic Construct (Level 350)
It's not a boss like the others, huh? Huh. Evangeline mused, turning to Jane. "So how do you want to kill that thing?"
"Why kill it?" Jane tilted her head. "Just destroy that rock formation, and we can get going."
"And how does that help us get closer to Neraxis?" Evangeline asked coldly.
"I'd like to ask you the same, then. How does killing a random golem help us find him? It doesn't. At least with my strategy, we can move on to the other area," Jane replied with a scoff. "Oh, and before you act out and do something stupid, I'd like to remind you that if I somehow die, you're never getting Neraxis back."
Evangeline's brows furrowed as she sent a cold glare at Jane. "Don't ever threaten me with him again, or I'm going to turn you into my blood puppet. I don't need to explain what will happen then, right?"
"And what makes you so sure that you can beat me?" Jane chuckled. "You got your ass handed to you just earlier."
"I didn't use a single one of my techniques earlier," Evangeline said plainly. "If I had, you wouldn't have been able to do what you did."
She had too much experience not to realize what Jane had done
After all, it was so simple, yet extremely overpowered.
Jane had an ability where she could negate damage upon contact, but only if she parried the attack at the moment it was about to land.
It was an incredibly hard skill to use, but if Evangeline had to assume, then Jane likely had some sort of eyesight skill helping her.
Maybe something similar to Neraxis's 3-second foresight?
Nonetheless, the two didn't continue their bickering and focused on the task at hand.
Both wanted the same things, but at the same time, their paths slightly differed.
But for Jane's sake and her usefulness, Evangeline would comply.
She focused on the stone pillar, then sent a quick slash.
It was invisible, and it didn't even make a sound as it traveled toward the stone pillar and sliced it clean off.
It didn't fall or make any noise, yet every demon present halted, turning in Evangeline's direction.
"Oh..."
"You idiot..." Jane muttered. "You should've waited for me to put a disguise over us."
"Well, it's fine," Evangeline remarked with a giggle. "I'll just have to deal with them now."
With those words, Evangeline kicked off, arriving in front of the first demon. It resembled a minotaur, but just slightly smaller.
Even so, when her sword met its skin, it cleaved straight through and struck the demonic core
The moment she did, the minotaur turned to dust. But she didn't stop there as she twisted her body around and sliced off the heads of the 5 demons running for her.
She didn't hesitate before moving on to the next batch, slaughtering them in an instant.
And after she was done, there was only one demon remaining, the giant golem.
Is it really a demon though? I can't sense its core... Evangeline thought with a sigh. Not like it matters though. It's about time I test out another one of my skills.
First, she needed to check the pop-ups.
<You have slain: Demonic Minotaur (x6) [Level 180]: Major Experience increase. Bonus experience earned for killing an enemy above your level!>

<You have leveled up!>

<+942 Free Stat Points Obtained!>
In the very next moment, Evangeline distributed them all.
Mana Capacity: 1,482 → 2,424
Free Stat Points: 942 → 0
Because of that, she now had enough mana to use another one of her skills.
Echoing Slash (Celestial)
—Slash the past echo of your enemy, dealing 25,000 True Damage
Cost: 20,000 MP
It was a pretty vague skill, but she always hated writing long descriptions. After all, they weren't exactly necessary.
And that was because she didn't even need to use the system to activate any of these skills.
They were a part of her, and they were a part of Neraxis too. He just slacked off way too much and focused on blood manipulation instead of actual deadly techniques.
But I'll force him to learn at least the World Severing Slash... Evangeline decided.
Now that everything else was out of the way, she focused on the air, feeling the residual mana the golem had left behind.
It was a hulking creature that walked around the entire room, so naturally, it didn't take long to find its mana signature.
However, that was when the golem finally took notice of Evangeline and began sprinting at her.
But sadly for the golem, it was already too late.
[MP -20,000 | 4,240 / 24,240 (Echoing Slash)]
She slashed the air, and at first, nothing happened. Yet as the moments passed, the golem's steps began to falter as it suddenly fell to the ground, its legs trembling.
I wasn't able to kill it in one hit? It's a bit more durable than I thought, Evangeline mused, approaching the golem on the ground.
It raised its giant head, looking up at her.
But her eyes held no remorse as she raised her sword in the air, then brought it down, slicing the golem's head in two.
<You have slain: Medium Grade Demonic Construct [Level 350]: Major Experience increase. Bonus experience earned for killing an enemy highly above your level!>
<You have leveled up!>
<Level 208 → 233>
<+614 Free Stat Points Obtained!>
Mana Capacity: 2,424 → 3,038
Free Stat Points: 614 → 0
Hmm... I can almost use my more overpowered skills, Evangeline thought, glancing around and finally spotting Jane.
She was tapping the wall like a madwoman. Just as Evangeline thought she had lost her mind, Jane's hand suddenly went through the wall
Jane turned back toward Evangeline and sent a nod before walking through the wall.
And of course, Evangeline soon followed.
