Chapter 627
Milluki opened the door and immediately signaled for silence. Gon and Leorio quickly hushed themselves. Then Milluki pointed toward the direction of Killua's room. Once he confirmed that Gon and Leorio understood, he returned to his seat.
Suddenly, the lights in the living room began to flicker violently. Then the kitchen, the bedroom—every part of the hotel building experienced an electrical disturbance.
"What's going on?"
"Power outage?"
"No, the power's still on."
"What's happening?"
The hotel staff was confused.
Killua opened his eyes, a bright gleam in them. He looked down. Two of his fingers were stuck straight into an outlet—that was the cause of the electrical disturbance. Killua pulled his fingers out, and the hotel's power returned to normal. Raising his hands, he extended one finger from each, bringing them closer together.
Crackle!
A current of electricity arced between them.
"My ability's ready," Killua said, smiling. "Converting aura into electricity—it fits perfectly within the Transformation category. This is my ability now. I've probably gotten a lot stronger. I can use electricity to attack targets. It's like having a powerful new weapon and technique."
He pushed the door open and stepped out. Gon and Leorio immediately turned to look at him.
"Killua, what happened to you?"
At that moment, Killua didn't look too good. His hair was fried, and his clothes were scorched and blackened.
"I'm fine," he said, then looked at Gon and paused. "Gon, I've awakened my ability."
Killua saw Gon as his best friend. Leorio and Kurapika were friends too, but not quite the same. Still, even with the closest of friends, comparisons are inevitable. During the Hunter Exam, Killua had felt frustrated by Netero's treatment of Gon, despite believing his own strength was greater.
And once he learned Nen, Killua noticed something else: the gap between him and Gon had been shrinking. The difference in strength had once been wide—Killua had opened the third door of the Testing Gates, while Gon could barely open the first. But now, that gap was all but gone. So this time when Killua was finally ahead again, he couldn't help but feel a little smug.
"That's great!" Gon cheered, genuinely happy for Killua.
Killua didn't see a trace of envy or jealousy in Gon's eyes—just pure joy for his friend. That gaze made Killua feel a little guilty. At the same time, it strengthened his resolve to always treat Gon as his closest friend for life.
"What's your ability?" Gon asked.
"This," Killua said, holding up a finger as electricity crackled at the tip. "I can transform my aura into electricity."
Leorio's eyes widened. "Nen can do that?"
Milluki wasn't too surprised—he was a Nen user himself and had already developed his own ability. He knew how flexible Nen could be. Electric-based Nen users weren't rare.
"I need to call Cousin Ron," Killua said, pulling out his phone. Soon, Ron answered.
"Killua."
"Cousin Ron, I've developed my Nen ability."
"What is it?"
"Electricity."
"Not bad. You should think about how to apply it. It's a basic type of ability, but it can branch into many directions. Good luck."
"Haha thanks cousin."

Elsewhere, in a ruined outskirt zone, the Phantom Troupe members—everyone except Machi—were present. Hisoka was sitting on a beam, playing with cards. Chrollo was beneath him, reading a book. Shalnark had a laptop open. Pakunoda stood behind Chrollo. Uvogin and Nobunaga sat together. Feitan, bored, had pulled Owl out again for further interrogation, trying to extract more information about the biological laboratory. But Owl didn't know much. The Ten Dons had relied heavily on the Shadow Beast, but hadn't placed all their cards in them.
Phinks was watching Feitan torture Owl since he had nothing else to do. Kortopi, Bonolenov, and Hooker stood off to the side, barely noticeable.
"When the hell are those guys coming?" Uvogin asked, looking at Hisoka. "Hisoka, what exact intel do you have?"
Uvogin was irritated. Because of the emergence of the experimental units, he couldn't go after the Chain User—and that annoyed him even more.
"No idea," Hisoka said without looking at him.
"Bastard!" Uvogin slammed his fist into a nearby pillar.
Boom!
The column dented violently.
"What's your problem, Hisoka?"
This time, Hisoka didn't even give him a verbal response.
Franklin quickly stepped between them, afraid that Uvogin, in his rage, might attack Hisoka. Franklin didn't like Hisoka either, but this wasn't the time for internal conflict. The Troupe couldn't afford that now.
"Hisoka, when you mentioned this info last time, was that when they left?" Chrollo asked.
"Possibly," Hisoka answered.
"The lab is in Aurean. If they left then and rushed straight here, it wouldn't even take them a full day."
"Just to be safe, let's assume a day. They won't charge straight in—they'll rest on the way. Once they reach the vicinity, they'll likely scout first."
"So in about half a day, we should know more."
The Troupe was waiting. So was Ron.

A car sped toward Yorknew at full speed. It didn't contact the local Underworld Mafia branches. Instead, it went directly to a secluded location to lay low.
"Captain, what do we do next?"
All eyes turned to a white-haired young man. He paused, then spoke.
"We already know where the Phantom Troupe is. It's obvious they intentionally exposed their position. There's no need to fight them where they're waiting. We'll use long-range attacks to draw them out."
"There are thirteen members of the Phantom Troupe. We have six. Each of us handles two. But one of us needs to deal with 3 of them at the same time. Don't hold back—go all out."
