"..." — Kojou opened his eyes and immediately heard desperate and terrified screams echoing from all directions, even though the place he was in seemed relatively quiet.
"Shido-sensei, are you really going to help us get out of this hell safely?" — asked a young man with black hair and eyes, his face pale, sweating, and looking extremely exhausted and frightened.
"..." — Kojou scanned the room and noticed that both Akatsuki and Akame were with him, along with four male students, three female students, and one adult man wearing a pair of glasses.
Upon seeing the adult man, Kojou couldn't help but show a sour expression, as if he had just witnessed the most disgusting thing in existence. And that was indeed the case—Kojou could see the souls of others, and the soul of this man with glasses was utterly repulsive, as if it were composed entirely of sin.
"There's no need to worry. I guarantee that I will get you all out of here safely." — smiled the bespectacled man known as Shido-sensei, adjusting his glasses as he looked down on the students with contempt, though he was clearly pleased by the hopeful looks directed at him. He quickly adjusted his expression and turned to Kojou and the others — "By the way, you're not students from Fujimi Academy, are you? So can you tell me who you are and why these two girls are carrying swords?"
Although Kojou and the others appeared to be ordinary teenagers who enjoyed cosplay, Shido was wary of them, as he could feel a strange pressure emanating from them.
"I don't think there's any need for introductions, as we don't intend to stay with you." — Kojou said calmly, clearly unwilling to remain near someone as disgusting as the man named Shido — "I'm leaving. What about you two?"
Even though Kojou was the one deciding to leave, he didn't have the right to speak on behalf of Akame and Akatsuki, but since they had come here as a team, he at least wanted to know if they wished to accompany him.
"I'll come with you. We're a team, even if temporarily." — said Akatsuki without hesitation, as she didn't like the way Shido looked at them. And honestly, it was better to have strong people around in a place where you never knew when you'd get bitten and turn into a zombie — "Also, I want you to be the leader of this team. That would give us a better chance of survival."
Although Akatsuki was strong, she knew she'd be finished if a zombie managed to bite her. So it was better to stick with powerful guild members than to act alone without backup.
"I see. What about you, Akame?" — Kojou nodded, not minding becoming the leader of this temporary group, but he still needed Akame's input.
"No problem." — Akame nodded without hesitation. She wasn't the best at using her head, so it was better to leave that role to someone else. Even if Kojou wasn't a great leader, he was still definitely better at it than she was.
"Since it's decided, let's go explore the surrounding area." — Kojou said with a light smile, opened the fourth-floor window, and jumped out without hesitation. He didn't want to bother using the door, especially when he could already sense hundreds of zombies waiting outside.
"Wh..." — Shido couldn't believe his eyes as he saw Kojou jump from the fourth-floor window. He rushed to the window, hoping to witness a pitiful death, as he had no sympathy for someone who had been rude to him.
But to Shido's shock, before he could even reach the window, Akatsuki and Akame had also jumped out after Kojou.
"Insane... they're insane..." — Shido could only mock the three for being mentally weak enough to commit suicide. He was only regretful that he couldn't get the girls' swords, which would have been useful in protecting them from the zombies outside.
"..." — When he reached the window, wearing a smug expression, expecting to see their corpses, Shido could only rub his eyes in disbelief. There were no bodies. Instead, Kojou and the others were casually running through the parking lot.
'What the hell is happening in this damned world?' — Shido cursed mentally. The world had turned upside down in just a few hours—zombies suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and now a group of teenagers jumped from the fourth floor and were completely unharmed.
"Impossible... Are they even human...?" — muttered one of the male students, a muscular guy with blonde hair and a delinquent-like appearance, in disbelief as he watched Kojou and the others running among zombies like they were strolling through a park.
"Is it just like in manga and novels, where people gain superpowers when zombies spread across the world?" — muttered another student with a gloomy appearance, but with clear excitement in his eyes. It was obvious he was a hardcore otaku who had read many post-apocalyptic manga and novels.
