The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 474: Fractured Arm

(From Blue's Perspective)

Evan looked way too serious and kept on pestering me to show my arm to Doctor Dimitri. So, I called him to Evan's room, so he could check my arm in front of him, as he wished for it so much.

"Is it hard to move?"

"A little," I said. It was actually painful, but not enough to prove that I broke my arm.

"Try moving it, not too hard though. Slowly," he said.

I did as he said, or, at least, tried to do. But I had to stop with a moan as pain shot through me with the movement.

Doctor Dimitri furrowed his brows and checked my arm for a while. Then, he let out a sigh. It was enough to make Evan panic.

"It is not broken," Doctor Dimitri said, "however, there is a fracture."

I turned to Evan immediately. He was muttering something under his breath again and stared at me with an apologetic look on his face.

"When did it happen?" Doctor Dimitri asked. He told Perita to bring his bag from his room and she ran for it immediately.

"Uh…"

"Last night, around nine," Evan answered. "I did it."

"You did not mean it, Evan. You were just worried," I said. I did not like the fact that he was blaming himself when it was an accident.

"But it happened, did it not?" he said.

"Your Highness should have told me sooner about it," Doctor Dimitri said. "It is not okay to keep a fractured arm this way. It seems it is a non-displaced fracture which is quite better. It will get better on its own if you don't move it. I will bandage it, so it should be fine."

"How long will it take?" Evan asked.

"Three to five weeks," he replied. "However, the time can vary."

Perita was back with Doctor Dimitri's bag already. Evan started apologizing again, while I was thinking about how my husband would take the news. He did not like when I had a simple fever. He would surely worry a lot and maybe come to see my condition if he could manage.

Doctor Dimitri plastered my arm and told me not to move it. I was still in Evan's room who looked so guilty that I pitied him.

"Evan… I am telling you. It is not your fault," I said.

"I can't believe I broke a pregnant woman's arm only because I was careless…," he muttered to himself. He had been doing that for a while.

"What's the point of blaming yourself now? If you feel sorry, just help Her Highness with everything and not hurt her in the process," Perita said sharply.

"Don't blame yourself, Evan. It was an accident. And I did not break my arm. It is just a fracture. It will get better within a few weeks," I said.

No matter how much I said it was alright and it was an accident, it did not help ease Evan's mind. He kept blaming himself and would not stop apologizing.

Ruby came to my room to see my condition and cursed Evan a lot. It was the same with Flint. He had returned and found my arm plastered. He was quite angry and said he never liked Evan anyway.

"Well, he is always causing trouble, isn't he?" Flint grumbled. "If he does not act carefully with a pregnant woman, then he is no gentleman. No matter what the situation is, he should know better than act on a whim. Pregnancy is hard enough. Now, dealing with a fractured arm is a burden that will be really hard to deal with."

"Thank you for worrying about me, but don't talk that way about Evan. He is a gentleman and has proven so for a long time. He lost his temper because he was worried about me and grabbed me a little too hard. He is a werewolf and an Alpha. It is very natural that he is way too strong and that's why he fractured my arm."

"His Highness is also a werewolf and an Alpha. But he never broke your arm, Your Highness," Flint said.

"Well, at first, Dem used to touch me very gently until he got used to me and knew how much force to use while touching me," I said. "It's not like I never got hurt."

"But your bones never broke," Flint said. He was not ready to let go of the matter until I admitted it was Evan's fault. However, it was not. How could I admit something that was not right?

"Flint, calm down."

"Your Highness, I have seen what pregnancy looks like. Rose would get morning sickness almost every day, get bad cramps, sometimes lose appetite and sometimes, she just had so bad of a headache that it was hard for her to move. Doesn't Your Highness experience the same things? I have seen you experience them. Tell me, is it really easy to deal with a fractured arm in a situation like this?"

He was not wrong. But what was there to do? I could not just go and yell at Evan. He did not do it on purpose. What was done was done. There was nothing any of us could do to make it better.

I sent Dem a letter that very day. I wrote to him in a way so he would not get angry at Evan. Evan was hurting enough by himself as he kept blaming himself for this. But knowing Dem, what I intended was not possible.

The next day, I got Dem's letter which was just as I had expected. It seemed he could not come as the situation with the war had turned worse. Worse would be an understatement as it had gone downhill and Dem said he would now follow the dirty method.

I was not sure what it was. But then, he made it clear.

He would look for all of the king's children and kill them one by one.
