The White King

Chapter 1: Burning City

BOOOOOOM!

A massive, neon-colored skyscraper, towering over 100 floors, split in two as a gigantic claw came crashing down, sending debris flying.

ROARRRRRRR!

From the chaos emerged a colossal humanoid monster, standing at an imposing 30 feet tall.

Its skeletal frame was encased in jagged, obsidian-like armor that seemed to absorb all light, giving it a shadowy, almost ghostly appearance.

The creature's featureless black surface was marred by glowing cracks resembling a fractured mask, while its hollow eyes burned with a chilling violet light.

Long spindly arms ended in clawed hands that dripped with a corrosive, tar-like substance. Its powerful legs were digitigrade and animalistic.

ROARRRRRRR! ROARRRRRRR!

But this wasn't just one monster; there were ten of them!

A few meters away, a huge crack appeared in the air like a shattered mirror, revealing dark and eerie scenes within as shadowy figures writhed inside.

The monstrous beings surged forth from this rift, unleashing terror upon Zenith City

Zenith City is an International metropolis known for its advanced living conditions and vibrant dreams, a city home to around 50 million people.

Now, however, it lay in ruins. Buildings crumbled left and right as civilians fled in panic, desperately searching for safety amidst the chaos.

The once-thriving Zenith City was now under siege by these Cosmic Monsters whose towering forms wreaked havoc and caused countless casualties.

---

In the heart of a devastated Zenith City, chaos reigned as a female reporter stood amidst the rubble, her male cameraman struggling to keep the shot steady.

Lena Hayes, with her disheveled auburn hair and ash-streaked trench coat, was a picture of determination.

Her sharp green eyes pierced through the destruction as she spoke into her handheld camera, her voice unwavering despite the danger surrounding her.

"This is Lena Hayes, reporting live from the center of the devastation," she announced, cutting through the cacophony of collapsing buildings and distant explosions. "Behind me lies the aftermath of an unprecedented attack by the Cosmic Monsters Void Stalkers, classified as Level Cosmic Monsters by the Global Super Hero Association.

While they may have limited abilities, their sheer size allows them to wreak havoc like nothing we've seen before."

Just then.....

BOOOOOM!

A massive chunk of debris crashed mere meters away, causing Lena to leap aside with a startled gasp.

But even with her pale face betraying fear, determination shone through.

Her cameraman Jake scrambled to regain focus as he continued to film Lena. "The damage these Void Stalkers are inflicting is catastrophic!

The portal that unleashed them could close at any moment. Where are our superheroes? If they don't arrive soon, we're looking at unimaginable casualties!"

---------

Across major cities nationwide, and indeed around the globe, viewers were glued to their screens in horror.

"Oh my heavens! Zenith City is under siege by Cosmic Monsters!" gasped one onlooker.

"This is too horrible! Where are our heroes when we need them?" another lamented.

"Why doesn't our government establish a hero organization like other countries?" someone else questioned angrily.

"Dammit! They're still pouring out from that portal! Why haven't any heroes shown up yet?"

Suddenly, someone pointed excitedly at a giant screen mounted on a skyscraper broadcasting live news updates. "Look! Heroes are finally appearing!"

---

"Looks like help has arrived!" Lena exclaimed as she gestured for Jake to capture the action unfolding before them.

A swirling tornado crackled with thunder and lightning enveloped one of the Void Stalkers, shredding it into chunks of rotting meat within moments.

As it dissipated, a figure emerged, a woman clad in white and gold suit with glowing yellow accents that radiated warmth like sunlight.

"It's Tempest!" Lena shouted with excitement as she faced the camera again. "She just took down one Void Stalker in seconds, no wonder she's considered one of our most powerful heroes!"

BOOOOOM!

Another shockwave rocked their surroundings as another Void Stalker met its end; its headless corpse crashed heavily onto the ground, creating a massive crater.

BANG!

A colossal metal rod, stretching as long as a streetlight, slammed into the ground with an earth-shaking impact, sending dust flying and toppling nearby buildings.

Next to Tempest appeared a striking figure clad in a metallic gray suit accented with blue highlights that gleamed like polished steel.

He flashed a grin at her. "Tempest, always the early bird! Snagging all the spotlight, huh?"

With a playful giggle, Tempest shot back, "Ironclad, it's not my fault you're slow!"

BOOM! BOOM!

The air crackled again as two more Void Stalkers met their end.

Just then, two additional superheroes joined Tempest and Ironclad: one man donned a sleek black suit with black cloak and hood covering his face adorned with dark purple accents that evoked shadows; the other was a woman in radiant white and gold suit with glowing yellow details reminiscent of sunlight.

"I see you two made it!" Ironclad called out enthusiastically.

"We can hear you just fine from right here," Lumina replied with an eye roll.

Shadow Step simply nodded in acknowledgment.

"Look at this, four heroes already assembled: Tempest, Ironclad, Shadow Step, and Lumina! With them on the scene, these Void Stalkers don't stand a chance!" Lena began confidently before she was interrupted by another loud noise sonic booms.

BOOM! BOOM!

Suddenly, the sound of something tearing through the air caught their attention.

They turned to see a streak of fiery red light racing toward them from afar. Wherever it passed, flames erupted like fireworks!

"Well look who finally decided to show up!" Tempest beamed.

The others shared her smile as they watched the blazing streak charge toward the Void Stalkers.

In an instant, a massive pillar of flame shot forth like a missile from this fiery figure, piercing through one Void Stalker after another and obliterating two in mere moments.

BOOOOOM!

The remnants crashed heavily to the ground, causing even more destruction around them.

A red streak materialized beside the four heroes, a young girl with short fiery red hair tipped with orange burst onto the scene in a sleek form-fitting suit of orange and black adorned with glowing gold accents that flickered like flames.

"Hey guys!" she greeted brightly with an infectious enthusiasm.

"Nova Blaze! You really know how to make an entrance!" Lumina chuckled warmly.

"Sorry for being late; I was pretty far away from the city," Nova Blaze explained sheepishly.

"Enough chit-chat, we have our hands full!" Tempest interjected firmly as she surveyed the remaining Void Stalkers still lurking ominously in the distance.

"That's quite a lot of trouble we're facing," Nova Blaze observed grimly while gazing at the giant portal still spewing forth more Void Stalkers.

"How long do you think that portal will stay open?" she asked thoughtfully.
