The White King

Chapter 2: Heroes

Lumina's voice cut through the chaos, "It's just a low-level one, so it should be closed in about ten minutes." She paused, her brow furrowed in thought.

"But a lot can happen in those ten minutes," Ironclad replied, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

"Exactly! We need to contain these monsters within a limited area and prevent them from causing any more destruction,"

Tempest said, her frown deepening as she surveyed the Void Stalkers and the swirling portal in the distance.

Turning to her teammates, she declared, "I have a plan to contain these cosmic threats."

"Go ahead," they all nodded in agreement.

"Ironclad, I need you to create barriers with a radius of one hundred kilometers around this area," Tempest instructed firmly.

"How tall do you want these barriers?" Ironclad asked, his brow raised in concern.

"At least twenty meters high," Tempest replied decisively.

"It'll be challenging, but I'll give it my best shot," Ironclad said after a moment of contemplation.

"Just do what you can," Tempest encouraged him before turning to Lumina. "Lumina, use your light-based abilities to locate any civilians or survivors caught in the battle zone and transport them out safely."

"I'm on it!" Lumina exclaimed, transforming into a dazzling white streak before vanishing from sight.

Tempest then addressed Shadow Step and Nova Blaze. "Shadow Step, stay hidden and strike when you see an opportunity for a heavy blow. Nova Blaze, unleash your most powerful attacks!"

Shadow Step nodded quietly before melting into the shadows.

"Damage is my specialty!" Nova Blaze grinned widely as she crouched down. Circles of flames ignited beneath her feet like thrusters ready for launch:

Nova Dash!

BOOOOOM!

In an explosion of fiery energy, Nova Blaze shot forward like a comet, obliterating everything in her path.

The ground where she had stood moments ago was now a massive smoking crater.

Tempest shook her head with an amused smile that quickly turned serious as lightning crackled around her body and her long white hair whipped wildly in the wind.

KABOOOOM!

She transformed into a bolt of lightning herself and surged toward the Void Stalkers.

In a breathtaking display of power, Ironclad manipulated the surrounding metals with ease, twisting them into massive metallic walls that encircled the battle zone for nearly a hundred kilometers.

It was a sight to behold, a fortress rising from the ground, glinting under the sun as it stood resolute against the chaos.

Meanwhile, Lumina stood on higher ground, radiating an intense white light that illuminated her surroundings.

With a flicker of brilliance, she vanished and reappeared beside a pile of enormous stones trapping a young woman and a little girl.

"Don't worry! I'm here to help you!" she reassured them with a warm smile.

In one swift motion, she tossed the stones aside like they were mere toys.

Grabbing both the woman and child, she transformed into a streak of light and shot towards safety where civilians and survivors were already gathering.

Fortunately, the City Rescue Operation Team had arrived just in time, assisting those rescued while searching for others still trapped in the battle zone.

Lumina gently placed her and the little girl on the solid ground before vanishing again in another dazzling flash.

In the shadows lurked Shadow Step, waiting patiently for his moment to strike.

With deadly precision, he dealt heavy blows to any Void Stalker that crossed his path, his katana slicing through the Void Stalkers as if they were made of paper.

On another front, Nova Blaze and Tempest unleashed their fury upon the Void Stalkers like gods of war!

Huge pillars of flames erupted from the ground while fireballs rained down from above.

The devastation caused by Nova Blaze was monumental.

Tempest crackled with electricity as she summoned colossal bolts of lightning that turned foes into charred remnants.

The shockwaves generated by their powers rippled through the air, thankfully the metallic walls Ironclad erected around blocked the shockwaves.

But despite their efforts, the battle zone remained chaotic.

The portal continued to spew forth Void Stalkers into the city without signs of closing anytime soon.

In just minutes since the heroes arrived, about twenty ominous Void Stalkers figures loomed over what was once peaceful streets, an unsettling spectacle indeed!

Almost one-third of the city had transformed into an all-out battleground.

BANG!

Nova Blaze barely had time to react as one of the Void Stalker's massive claws swiped at her, sending her tumbling through the air.

She streaked like a comet, crashing into nearby buildings and carving a long ditch into the ground.

"Dammit, that hurts!" she exclaimed, pushing aside the boulders and debris that pinned her down.

As she stood up, her eyes narrowed coldly at the towering Void Stalkers looming over her.

With a fierce determination, she charged back into battle, leaving trails of flames in her wake.

By now, she and Tempest had already taken down about ten of these monstrous creatures, but more kept pouring out of the ominous portal behind them.

Shadow Step, lurking in the shadows as always, had single-handedly killed another ten.

"Tempest! I've evacuated all civilians from the area; there are no ordinary people left here," Lumina announced with a flash of light beside Tempest.

"Good! Then help us take down these monsters," Tempest replied without missing a beat as she summoned colossal tornadoes that shredded the Void Stalkers into mincemeat while bolts of lightning crackled around her.

"I've got everything under control, there's a hundred-kilometer radius around us that's clear for battle," Ironclad chimed in, though he looked visibly worn out.

"Are you okay?" Tempest asked with concern as she assessed Ironclad's condition.

"Yeah, just ran out of energy," he replied with a dismissive wave.

"Let Lumina heal you; you'll recover quickly and be able to help!" Tempest urged, giving Lumina a glance.

In an instant, Lumina placed her hand on Ironclad's shoulder, enveloping him in radiant white light.

Moments later, as the glow faded away, Ironclad felt revitalized and full of energy once more.

With a grin spreading across his face, he slammed his fists together and turned to face the enormous Void Stalkers.

"Tempest! Do you prefer your Void Stalker meat cooked or electrified?"

"I'll take it cooked!" Tempest answered with a smile.

"Good choice!" Ironclad declared as he spread his arms wide; every metallic object nearby began to levitate before transforming into deadly projectiles that shot toward their foes.

ROARRRRRRR!

The Void Stalkers shrieked in agony as Ironclad's metal missiles pierced their obsidian-like armor effortlessly.

Dark violet blood poured from their wounds as they writhed in pain from both fire and electricity.

Suddenly dark clouds gathered above them; bolts of lightning rained down precisely onto the metal fragments embedded within the beasts' bodies.

These weren't ordinary bolts, hey were infused with Tempest's power!
