Chapter 341: One man, one heart.
"An, a man can only have one heart and that one heart should only hold one woman inside at a time. Your father has one heart but two women inside at the same time.
I saw him hugging Nana once, at the hospital and wiping her tears tenderly. I won't lie, i was in pain when i saw that. He couldn't look at me or say anything when i cried but he wiped that woman's tears and hugged her intimately.
I have spent all these years mourning him and he was in the arms of another woman, exchanging words of love. I was willing to forgive him because it was a case of ignorance but even after he found out the truth, he continued to act as if i didn't exist and tolerated all of Nana's excesses.
Nana disrespected me on many different occasions but he just stood there and watched or dragged her away without making her apologize to me. I went to the company, locked myself in my office and cried that day at the hospital. It was not the only occasion where i cried by myself since his return.
Whenever i look at him now, that image is all i can see and i can't get rid of it. Eventually the tears dried up so i decided to rid of the man too because he has one heart, and it's not mine anymore.
An, if you ever find yourself having to fight with another woman for the affection of a man, just walk away. The humiliation is not worth it. Even if he chooses you, it doesn't mean that he didn't put you on a scale with the other woman and weigh the two of you before deciding that you are a better fit for him. It could have gone the other way and he chose her instead of you. You are not a winner, you are just a survivor."
Zhang An responded smugly, "Mom, i am your daughter. I could never stay with a disloyal man. Just because i am calmer now doesn't mean i have lost my edge. I would break his arms and legs and nose and rip off the thing between....."
"I get it, i get it." Yura cut her off quickly. "We would have to exhaust your package completely to handle the situation."
Alix heard Zhang An reply coquettishly, "Mom, it's no longer my package. Haven't you heard that after sister-in-law broke two jaws so it has been renamed?"
"Alix does punch really hard." Yura concurred. "I was there when she punched Lin Billi. It made the sound chicken bones make when you bite into them."
Yura and Zhang An chuckled like a bunch of scheming teenagers.
Alix stopped eavesdropping and turned her eyes to Caishen. How many hearts does this guy have? she asked herself. That ex girlfriend of his was still hanging around and angling for something.
Nobody could tell if her aim was to destroy him or get back together. She remembered the coquettish way the woman had called her husband brother, over and over again.
As she thought, her eyes narrowed and her aura darkened. If she ended up in Yura's shoes, would she fight or walk away?
"You would have to first get even before walking away." the system told her.
She nodded, agreeing whole heartedly. If he dared to put her on a weighing scale and measure her like Yura had said, she would not destroy both, not just one person.
By the side of the middle tent where the two brothers were hanging up shining lights, Bo whispered to Caishen, "Why is your wife staring at you as if she wants to rip your head off? What did you do?"
"Me!! Who says its me?" Caishen whispered back.
As far as he could tell, he hadn't done anything wrong and Alix was looking in a general direction. For all they knew, it was Zhang Bo she was angry with.
Zhang Bo replied, "Nine of out of ten times when the husband is killed, it's always the wife."
Caishen looked up and sneered at his brother. This guy was good at speaking foolishly.
"Honey," he looked at Aix and called out. "Why are you standing there idly?"
Alix that had broken out of the imaginary scene of vengeance she was in was suddenly surprised by the choice of endearment which her husband was using for the first time since they met.
As foolish as it was, she turned her head as far back as it could go and she looked to see if he was referring to someone else. There was no one, so she turned her head back and looked at him.
Using her thumb, she pointed to herself and said, "Me!" She blinked twice and asked, "Are you talking to me?"
Bo leaned down and muttered close to Caishen's ears, "Nine out of ten."
Laughing menacingly, he walked away from his brother, avoiding the angry eyes which were stabbing his back. But he turned back when he heard his brother talking to his wife in a very weird voice. It was somewhere between affectionate and coquettish.
A voice that his brother had never used on their mother, sister or Xiaobo.
"Honey, my honey. Did you come because you are missing me?"
Alix was just as surprised as Bo, and her mouth fell open. Things were definitely weird all of a sudden. That tone of voice was new to her as well. It was different from the one he used when he was teasing her.
"What is this?" Bo asked loudly.
Xiaobo had no idea what was happening either but he was surprised as well. His uncle was behaving weirdly indeed.
"Hey, do you need a hospital?" Bo roughly put a hand on Caishen's forehead, his neck and even tried to take his jacket off and check for signs and symptoms of illness.
Caishen responded by fighting off his persistent brother who wouldn't quit and ended up ripping off one of Caishen's buttons from his shirt.
The button flew up and hit Xiaobo on the head before bouncing and landing on the ground.
Annoyed, Xiaobo shouted angrily, "Father, are you a kid? Why are you tearing uncle's clothes? Please, will you behave like an adult."
Bo was so lost that she asked them, "Did he just scold me?"
It ended up becoming a funny scene that resulted in Alix laughing so hard for no tangible reason. She was still laughing when Zhang An strolled into the room with juice.
"We brought punch." she announced, "Why is sister-in-law laughing?"
Alix sat down in a chair, still laughing with her shoulders shaking vigorously.
"You will not believe what just happened." she replied.
Miles away from there, in the city of Shanghai, Lai Yanfang was just getting off a plane when she received a phone call that put a smile on her face.
Then she dialed a different number and said, "I have a scoop for you. Beijing's it couple is no more, Zhang Xian and his wife are getting divorced. So much for the miraculous re-union which was ordained by fate."
She hung up, looked at the sky and laughed. "I bet the old lady is going to hide from everyone for a while. It serves her right for acting like a snob."
She tossed the phone to her assistant with a calculating smile on her face.
