Chapter 145 - I Didn't Even Use Any Force, How Did You Die?
"Supernatural..."
Xing's eyes lit up. She was very interested in supernatural events!
March 7th, on the other hand, shrank back behind Xing in fear, tugging on her arm. "Xing, maybe we should refuse... That sounds really scary."
Hearing this, Xing fell into deep thought. After a long moment, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Fu Zhu, not forgetting to turn and say to March 7th, "In that case, I'll ask my old bro to come with you. Don't some schools organize an activity called a 'trial of courage' to foster feelings between guys and girls? It's perfect for you two!"
"Eh... Th-that's... no, no way!"
March 7th panicked at Xing's arrangement. She lunged for Xing's phone, but she was a step too late.
Xing triumphantly flipped her phone around to show March 7th. "Too bad, the message has already been sent."
"You...!"
March 7th sighed, but when she thought about how a trial of courage was one of those classic school-life activities she had always dreamed of, and that it would be with Fu Zhu, her heart suddenly felt much less resistant.
In an instant, her mind couldn't help but conjure a fantasy: she and Fu Zhu were walking down a gloomy alley when suddenly, a chilling laugh echoed out. Terrified, she dove into Fu Zhu's embrace, and he gently held her shoulders, whispering softly in her ear...
"Ah, old bro refused."
CRACK. March 7th's fantasy instantly shattered.
She turned her head to look at Xing, baffled, and asked with a hint of unwillingness, "Why did he refuse?! Isn't Fu Zhu the type who loves to join in on the fun! Did you say something you shouldn't have?"
Xing gave March 7th an innocent look and turned her phone over for her to see. March 7th quickly leaned in to read the chat log.
[Xing: Old bro, wanna come to a trial of courage?!]
[Fu Zhu: Sounds interesting, but I refuse! I've been to similar things before. I'm a curious person, and I was curious whether those ghosts were real or fake, so I usually test them with my fists. In the end, I was told I wasn't allowed to beat up the staff. Sigh, ever since then, I've stopped going to such boring places and events.]
After reading Fu Zhu's reply, March 7th's mouth couldn't help but twitch. The fantasy of Fu Zhu whispering sweet nothings in her ear was replaced by the image of him hearing the slightest rustle in the wind and immediately unleashing a mighty punch in the direction of the sound.
"Indeed... Fu Zhu's personality isn't really suited for this kind of supernatural livestream..."
Xing immediately threw an arm around March 7th's shoulders and grinned. "Then it'll just have to be the two of us! C'mon, March, you can't refuse me, can you?"
"Alright, fine..."
Seeing March 7th agree, Xing immediately high-fived Guinaifen. Guinaifen then excitedly rushed to the hospital bed and yanked back the covers on Sushang.
"Shangshang, you've slept for a whole day! Hurry up and come with us, it's getting dark soon, perfect for livestreaming over at Suiyuan!"
Sushang let out a helpless sigh and sat up in bed. Fortunately, she had only been suffering from excessive dizziness before, so it was nothing serious.
"Alright, let's go."
The four of them quickly gathered their things and hurried out of the medical center.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town in the commercial district, Fu Zhu glanced at his phone for a moment. Seeing that Xing hadn't sent any more messages after he declined her invitation, he turned it off and tucked it back into his pocket.
He had actually wanted to go to that trial of courage Xing mentioned, but the moment he thought about the "ghosts" being people in costumes, he lost all interest. Besides, he needed to buy a large amount of materials to craft his Sophisticated Backpack.
As he walked, Fu Zhu stopped and looked up at the general store in front of him before turning to enter.
He could buy some leather from this shop to craft the Sophisticated Backpack.
"Oi, is the shopkeeper here?"
Fu Zhu walked into the shop, and seeing no one at the counter, he hollered towards the back.
"Coming!"
A moment later, a middle-aged man walked out from the back room with a smile and stood at the counter.
"What can I get for you, customer?"
"Give me 256 pieces of leather."
Fu Zhu asked for four full stacks right off the bat. He had originally planned to just buy a little, but on second thought, since he wanted to test if the Sophisticated Backpack had a weight-based BUG, he might as well buy a bit more.
Besides, the upgrade templates needed for the Sophisticated Backpack also required leather, so it was always good to buy extra and have it ready.
"256 pieces of leather?!"
Hearing the quantity, the shopkeeper's eyes lit up. Leather was something that few people bought, and most customers were other merchants purchasing it to make various goods and clothing. For all he knew, this young man was here to procure supplies for his own business. This was a big sale!
"What kind of leather would you like, sir?"
"Whatever. Whichever kind you have the most of in your shop."
Fu Zhu wasn't picky about the type of leather; it would all be converted into MC leather in the end anyway. And even if the price was high, it didn't matter. He had no intention of paying for it himself. Although it hadn't been long, it was about time to collect another payment from Scott.
"Right away, sir! I'll go get it for you!" The shopkeeper trotted off into the back room with a cheerful spring in his step.
Fu Zhu, bored, leaned against the counter and took out his phone to scroll through the big news that Aha had stirred up for him. After a few glances, he grumbled unhappily.
"Truly worthy of the Lord of Elation. One moment he's helping me block Fuli, and the next he's pushing me onto the crest of the wave. What a sick sense of humor."
As Fu Zhu was looking at his phone, a spherical, ochre-colored spirit entity quietly emerged from the ceiling. A single eye on the sphere stared down at Fu Zhu.
"This human... has the scent of money on him! Heeheeheehee... Let me possess you and help you make a fortune. Let's see what kind of person you become after obtaining immense wealth! Will you fall into depravity? Or become even greedier? Oh, this will be worth looking forward to!"
After a sinister laugh, the spirit shot down from the ceiling, flying swiftly toward Fu Zhu's back.
Fu Zhu was scrolling through his phone while also keeping an eye on the minimap for the shopkeeper's icon, wondering when he'd come out. Suddenly, he noticed a new red icon appear on the map, rapidly approaching him.
[Suiyang · Spendthrift]
Although he didn't quite understand what this "Suiyang" thing was, Fu Zhu immediately switched to his Demon Blade "Hiruko" and slashed behind him.
Seeing Fu Zhu suddenly draw a weapon to attack him, Spendthrift couldn't help but laugh.
"Foolish human! My Suiyang clan has no physical form. How could your attack possibly harm me? Just obediently accept my possession!"
The next second, Fu Zhu's Demon Blade "Hiruko" sliced Spendthrift in two. Before it could even let out a scream, the Suiyang burst apart, transforming into a few scattered experience orbs that merged into Fu Zhu's body.
"What the hell was so fragile?"
Fu Zhu scratched his head, a little baffled. He thought he was facing another powerful enemy, but he'd finished it off without even using any real force.
Could it be a special species of mosquito unique to the Luofu, called a Suiyang?
It barely gave any experience points. It was probably just a mosquito.
