Chapter 146 - Taken Out of Context (Part 1)
Xing, March 7th, Guinaifen, and Sushang were halfway to Suiyuan when suddenly, a man and a woman darted out from the side of the road behind them.
"Please wait a moment!"
Xing's steps faltered for a second, then she quickened her pace and walked forward.
Instinctively, March 7th and the others had wanted to turn around to see why the man and woman were calling out to them, but seeing Xing speed up, they subconsciously followed suit.
The man and woman behind them were stunned. Shouldn't a normal person instinctively turn their head and ask what they wanted?
Who just speeds up and leaves? Isn't that what someone with a guilty conscience would do? But they weren't here to reprimand them!
The pair exchanged a glance, then immediately broke into a run after Xing's group, finally managing to overtake and block them after a great effort.
The woman stood in front of the four, hands on her hips, panting slightly as she asked, "Why are you running?"
Xing tilted her chin up and retorted, "If you weren't chasing, would I be running?"
The man asked Xing the same question in return. "No, we called out to you right from the start, but you just ran without even looking back. Ladies, we're really not bad people. We're just reporters here for an interview. Look, these are our credentials, they're authentic!"
Fearing that Xing and the others would misunderstand and bolt again, the two quickly pulled out their credentials and handed them to Xing.
Xing took the two IDs with a look of confusion. The two were indeed reporters from the Luofu Daily. The man and woman were named Tao Mu and Huan Liu, respectively.
"Oh, so you're reporters."
Xing sheepishly rubbed the back of her head and returned the IDs. "I've been reading some novels on the Luofu lately, and I've become a bit sensitive to phrases like 'Please wait a moment.' In those novels, that's usually what evil cultivators say to trick passersby."
Hearing this explanation, Tao Mu and Huan Liu were left speechless. But remembering the identity of the person before them, they forced a smile and nodded.
"Ahahaha... Understandable, understandable."
"So, you want to interview us?" March 7th sized up Tao Mu and Huan Liu with a suspicious gaze. She noticed their pointed ears. Although they had no dragon horns or tails, they were likely from the Vidyadhara race.
Seeing March 7th finally ask about their purpose, Huan Liu nodded frantically. "Yes, yes! We'd like to interview the two Nameless ladies about Lord Fu Zhu. After all, he's a huge celebrity on the Luofu right now!"
Tao Mu, standing to the side, chimed in, "That's right! It's not just Lord Fu Zhu; Nameless like yourselves are the subjects we in the news industry want to interview the most. But it's so hard to meet you. Since we've had the good fortune to run into you today, could you give us a chance? It will only take a little bit of your time."
"Sure."
Xing agreed quite readily. It was the first time she'd ever been interviewed, so she was naturally curious.
"Thank you so much!!!"
Tao Mu and Huan Liu bowed gratefully to Xing, then quickly set up their camera and aimed it at Xing and March 7th.
Huan Liu held a microphone up to Xing and asked directly.
"Miss Xing, someone happened to hear Lord Fu Zhu say that he is a descendant of the dragon. Is this true?"
Hearing this question, Xing folded her arms and nodded with a serious look. "Mhm, my old bro and I are often called dragons by our mommy."
Tao Mu and Huan Liu were ecstatic. Tao Mu immediately whipped out a small notebook and began scribbling furiously.
"Lord Fu Zhu and his sister are descendants of [Immortality]..."
Beside them, March 7th felt something was off. She tugged on Xing's sleeve. "Don't just say whatever."
Then she turned to Tao Mu, who was busy writing in his notebook, and said, "You shouldn't just write whatever, either!"
Tao Mu glanced up at March 7th, then lowered his head and continued writing in his notebook.
"The other Nameless has indicated that this is a secret that cannot be revealed..."
March 7th: ???
When did she ever say this was a secret that couldn't be revealed?! And why was Xing addressed as "Miss Xing" while she was just "the other Nameless"? Did she, March 7th, the number one archer of the Astral Express, not even deserve to have her name mentioned?!
Soon, Tao Mu had finished writing everything he needed in his notebook. Their main objective for this trip was to get that one answer from Xing. They could have left already, but considering their professional ethics as reporters, they couldn't just ask one question and run off, could they?
This wasn't some random street poll; it was an exclusive interview with the Nameless.
Tao Mu and Huan Liu thought for a moment and decided to dig up some more information for a feature story.
"Second question." Huan Liu thought for a moment, then asked Xing, "What is the relationship between you two and Lord Fu Zhu?"
The moment March 7th heard this question, she couldn't help but roast them. "Are you really reporters? Shouldn't that have been the first question you asked? Besides... we're Nameless, just like Fu Zhu. You're asking what our relationship is... so let me ask you, what is your job?!"
Tao Mu held his pen and looked at March 7th with a frown. "Miss, your answer is very difficult for me to record..."
"This is a roast! Not an answer!"
Tao Mu sighed helplessly and could only lower his head to write.
"The two Nameless ladies have an unspeakable relationship with Lord Fu Zhu."
"Hey!!!"
March 7th couldn't help but facepalm with a sigh. She turned to Xing and complained, "You shouldn't have agreed to this. You should just say something random so we can leave. This is even worse than going to Suiyuan to livestream with Little Gui."
Xing nodded, then turned to Huan Liu and said, "My brother is the most passionate man in the world! The sole designated heir to his legacy. And this Miss March 7th standing beside me is my brother's..."
Before Xing could finish, March 7th clamped a hand over her mouth. She didn't even need to think to know what Xing was about to say!
March 7th turned her head and shot a fierce glare at Tao Mu and Huan Liu. "The interview is over! We have things to do, so we're leaving!"
With that, she clamped her hand over Xing's mouth and forcibly dragged her away towards Suiyuan. Guinaifen and Sushang quickly followed.
Tao Mu and Huan Liu didn't give chase. The latter felt that getting that one crucial answer was enough to report back to their kin. He turned to the former and said, "Pack it up. Let's go back and publish this."
Tao Mu scratched his head with his pen, then patted the small notebook, in which he had only written a few sentences. "Just this? It's not much to look at!"
"You're a reporter. Can't you use your subjective initiative and expand on what the two Nameless said?"
"...True."
