Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Naruto, You Are The Real Hero
"Naruto! You inherently evil Uzumaki brat!"
"I'll tear you apart with my own hands..."
Amidst Kurama's furious roars, Naruto directly exited the seal space and opened his eyes to the ceiling of Konoha Hospital.
He glanced outside. The sun was shining brightly. Even though he had just fought Kurama in the seal space, the flow of time there was different. In the real world, he had only been unconscious for an hour or two.
Perhaps because of his increased strength, he felt a sense of relief and didn't feel the slightest bit ashamed of his 'tactical retreat.'
It can't be helped. Kurama was about to fire a third Tailed Beast Ball, treating its ultimate move like a basic attack. There's no way Naruto could keep up with it. Even though Bishamonten could absorb Chakra, it still consumed his Ocular Power.
'That single Tailed Beast Ball was probably equivalent to hundreds of Kakashis.'
However, what surprised Naruto was that his Mangekyo Sharingan's Ocular Power seemed to regenerate, 'Was it due to the Uzumaki Clan's unique constitution, or was it the influence of the Nine-Tails' Chakra?'
Although he wasn't sure of the reason, but not having to worry about going blind was a huge relief.
'I wonder if absorbing other Sharingan could increase my Ocular Power. If I absorbed a Mangekyo Sharingan, would my eyes evolve into the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan?'
For a moment, Naruto considered finding an Uchiha with an awakened Mangekyo to test this theory. But he quickly reined in his thoughts.
He was about to turn six and would soon enter the Academy. From that time, the Uchiha Massacre wasn't far off, so he could take advantage of that.
Maybe he could find a way to absorb a pair of Mangekyo Sharingan. If he could evolve his eyes into the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, he could use his Dojutsu freely without worrying about losing his sight.
But in this situation, he had to find someone to try the effectiveness of his Dojutsu.
'Who should I test it on?'
Naruto stared at the ceiling, and fell in thought, 'There were too many people who had made my life miserable over the years. I should have some time before that old bastard arrived, so I might as well think it through.'
As soon as he left the seal space, Naruto sensed two sources of malice nearby suddenly disappear. One was likely reporting to Hiruzen, and the other to Danzo.
But he no longer needed to curry favor with Hiruzen and the other elders like before.
'Back then, I had been too weak and had no choice but to endure. Now, with the Mangekyo Sharingan, I had the power to flip the table. If I continued to act like before, wouldn't my Mangekyo Sharingan have been awakened for nothing?'
Naruto continued to ponder, like a college student deciding what to eat for lunch. Choosing one option would make him regret not picking the other, and vice versa. It was a dilemma.
Knock knock knock!
At this time, a knock sounded at the door. Before Naruto could respond, the door opened, and Hiruzen, wearing the Hokage's hat, walked in with his usual kind smile.
'If you wanted to enter directly, why would you knock?' Naruto couldn't help but complain in his heart.
"Naruto-chan, how is your body recovering?"
Naruto smiled and said, "It's much better, Sandaime."
"!"
The sudden change in how Naruto addressed him made Hiruzen's heart skip a beat. Though his expression remained kind, Naruto could sense the sudden spike in malice emanating from him.
"Naruto-chan, why aren't you calling me Grandpa Sandaime anymore? Are you still feeling upset?"
'You old man, I'm giving you face by calling you Sandaime. If I weren't, I'd tell you to drop dead.'
Naruto wanted to say that but held back. He still planned to stay in Konoha for a while and maybe collect a few more Sharingan.
'The Sarutobi Clan was known for their physical strength, so absorbing their energy could significantly boost my physical abilities.'
Hiruzen, unable to read minds or sense malice like Kurama, saw Naruto's vacant expression and assumed the boy was deeply traumatized.
"Naruto-chan, this isn't your fault. Many people in the village misunderstand you."
"Sandaime, I really am the demon fox, aren't I?" Naruto lowered his head and tried his best to look dejected.
'Why does acting feel so much harder now?'
Hiruzen's eyes narrowed slightly, and he said in a deep voice: "Naruto, this isn't your fault."
"But I really did turn into the demon fox earlier."
Hiruzen fell silent, and after thinking for a while, he sighed deeply, and said in a hoarse voice: "Naruto, let me tell you a story."
"A story?" Naruto looked up, curious, 'What kind of brainwashing is this old man planning now?'
Hiruzen's face took on a nostalgic expression, with a mix of sorrow and regret.
"It all starts with the Yondaime Hokage. The Yondaime Hokage was a bright, kind child. Though shy, he was serious and cautious when facing enemies. Even back in the Academy, I had high hopes for him..."
"..."
"Finally, during the Nine-Tails attack five years ago, the Yondaime Hokage sacrificed his life to seal the Nine-Tails and save the village. He became known as the hero who protected Konoha."
Hiruzen rambled on, praising Minato as an exceptional shinobi, a great Hokage, and a hero who had saved the entire village.
Naruto couldn't help but reflect on everything he had endured over the years, 'Namikaze Minato, what exactly did you protect?'
'Your wife died, you died, your son became a pariah. All your legacy was taken away, leaving nothing behind.'
In fact, the villagers of Konoha didn't bully Naruto because they truly believed he was the demon fox. They never really thought he was the demon fox. They just needed an outlet for their emotions.
After the Nine-Tails attack, the losses to Konoha were incalculable, and someone had to take the blame. But the Fourth Hokage was dead, and the village's elders were too concerned with their own reputations. Naturally, Naruto became the target of the village's hatred.
When they saw that Naruto was really a demon fox, there was nothing else in their hearts except fear.
"Naruto."
Hiruzen suddenly called Naruto's name, snapping him out of his thoughts. Naruto looked up, confused, as Hiruzen's expression turned serious.
"Although Yondaime Hokage sealed the Nine-Tails, you are also carrying the hopes of the entire village. Without you becoming the Nine-Tails' container, Konoha wouldn't have the peace it enjoys today."
"Naruto, even though I am the Sandaime Hokage, you are the true hero."
"?"
'When I have this question mark, it's not because I have a problem, but because I think you have a problem.'
'This old bastard's psychological manipulation skills were truly something else. He almost got me fired up with that speech. No wonder he was known as the Professor and the inventor of the ultimate Genjutsu… the Will of Fire.'
Naruto's eyes were immediately filled with tears and he shouted loudly: "Sandaime, I am Konoha's hero! I will make sure everyone 'acknowledges' me."
"I'll make everyone in the village the driving force behind my strength!"
Seeing this, Hiruzen nodded with satisfaction, 'Even though Naruto still didn't revert to calling me 'Grandpa Sandaime,' at least his Will of Fire remained strong and unwavering.'
"If you want to earn everyone's recognition, you must first become a Ninja. Once you graduate from the Academy, you can become a true Ninja."
"I will work hard, Sandaime."
Naruto stared intently at Hiruzen, his eyes filled with determination.
