Transmigrated Become Sukuna, but the host is Yukinoshita Yukino?

Chapter 172: Chapter 170: Aftermath

As soon as the veil was broken, the remaining sorcerers in Shinjuku—especially those from Squad 403—panicked. Most of them immediately abandoned the fight and ran for their lives.

The veil being lifted meant that Gojo Satoru had arrived. And for them, that meant death.

"Damn it! Damn it! The veil is gone! I need to get out of here fast!"

Shigemo Haruta swung his blade to push back the glowing blue jellyfish shikigami hovering in front of him, then turned and fled.

Just then, his phone rang, and at the same time, he heard Yoshino Junpei shouting from behind.

"Tch, why is he calling now!? That bastard Geto!"

Shigemo didn't dare ignore a call from his leader. After all, it was Geto who had set up the veil that kept Gojo Satoru out for twenty minutes. It was only twenty minutes—but still, it was Gojo Satoru.

As he answered the phone, the blond-haired man with a ponytail shouted over his shoulder at Yoshino Junpei, who was chasing after him.

"Why are you coming after me!? Shouldn't you be protecting those civilians!?"

Hearing that, Yoshino Junpei hesitated, watching Shigemo Haruta disappear into the distance with a frustrated look.

Shigemo had a point—his job was to keep the survivors safe. If he left them behind and something happened, it would be his fault.

Fortunately, he had managed to protect them from the curse user's attack. He hadn't let Nanami-sensei down.

Looking back at the group of survivors huddled together, Yoshino Junpei let out a long sigh of relief.

…

In the blink of an eye, Yukinoshita and Hayashizaki disappeared from Hikigaya Hachiman's sight.

He was used to it, but still, he couldn't help feeling a little jealous.

*Sigh… Why can't I get special treatment too…*

Once his wounds were healed, Hachiman felt much lighter, and his thoughts became as sharp as ever. His mind started wandering aimlessly again.

"I've been meaning to ask this for a while now," Kugisaki Nobara suddenly spoke up. "Are Yukinoshita and Hayashizaki-sensei… dating?"

Her orange eyes sparkled with curiosity, eager for gossip.

"Huh!?" Itadori Yuji's eyes widened. "Wait, really? I didn't notice at all!"

Even Fushiguro Megumi, usually unreadable, subtly leaned in, showing more interest than his blank expression suggested.

"You seriously didn't notice? No wonder girls don't like you," Kugisaki Nobara shot Itadori a look of disdain. "Didn't you see what just happened? Don't you think they were acting a little too close?"

Her eyes gleamed as if she had uncovered some grand truth. She muttered, "There's no way a normal teacher-student relationship would be that close."

"Just now? I was busy studying the remains of that special-grade curse," Itadori Yuji scratched his head. "But it burned up pretty quickly."

"…Are you some kind of weird science student or something?"

As the two bickered, they both turned their attention to Hachiman, who was sitting on the steps, lost in thought.

Being sensitive to other people's stares, Hachiman snapped out of his daze and realized that three pairs of curious eyes were locked onto him.

Huh? Why's everyone looking at me?

Hachiman looked completely confused.

"So, what's the deal? Are they a couple or not?" Kugisaki Nobara pressed.

"Huh? What?" It took Hachiman a couple of seconds to process what they were asking. His eyes darted away. "Uh… even if you ask me, I wouldn't know…"

"That face—there's no way you don't know something!"

Without hesitation, Kugisaki Nobara lunged forward and locked Hachiman in a headlock.

"Ugh! I'm dying, I'm dying..." The guy weakly patted Kugisaki's arm, instinctively begging for mercy.

What's with this woman?!

We've only met twice, yet she's acting like we're lifelong friends, grabbing me all over!

Stop it! Our relationship isn't close enough for this!

Watching the students fool around, Nanami Kento adjusted his glasses with a helpless sigh. The incident was pretty much over, but relaxing this much already... Well, whatever.

After all, they just experienced the first real battle of their lives. Let them have this moment.

—

"What did you just say?"

After treating an injured sorcerer, Ijichi Shoko leaned against the railing to take a short break. She had a cigarette in her mouth, unlit, when her phone rang—it was Gojo Satoru.

"Principal Yaga is dead."

Gojo's voice on the other end was calm.

Silence filled the air. After a long pause, there was a click—the sound of a lighter igniting. The flame crackled as the cigarette burned a little.

Exhaling a thick cloud of smoke, Ijichi asked, "How did he die?"

"Killed by a special-grade curse. The same one I fought before—the plant guy who saved Volcano Head," Gojo explained. "The principal stayed behind at the school to prevent a diversion tactic, but he ended up running straight into them."

"What were they after?"

"Sukuna's fingers and the Cursed Womb paintings."

"Judging by your tone, I'm guessing they got what they came for."

"Yeah. That plant guy was just a disposable pawn."

Silence again. Ijichi took another drag before continuing, "Principal Yaga… You're not planning to do what you did with Geto, are you?"

"Even after death, a sorcerer's body could hold secrets about their technique. And Principal Yaga was a 'special grade'—people will definitely be after him. We need to either preserve or destroy his body… I feel like I've had this conversation with you before. And I know that no matter how many times I say it, you won't listen."

"At the very least, he deserves a proper funeral," Gojo said.

Ijichi sighed, knowing there was no changing his mind. "Fine. You handle it."

She hung up, pressing the smoldering cigarette into the ashtray. Her eyes grew distant.

Memories from her youth surfaced without warning. Their high school days, the laughter, the carefree moments—just yesterday, it felt so real.

And yet, just like that, another friend was gone.

Geto's death.

Now Principal Yaga's.

Two Night Parade of a Hundred Demons incidents had taken away the people she cared about—her teacher, her friends.

Was this fate? Or just a cruel coincidence?

She didn't know.
