Transmigrated Become Sukuna, but the host is Yukinoshita Yukino?

Chapter 176: Chapter 172: Afterward

The day after the fireworks festival, school was set to start again.

Just before the morning assembly, the students of Sobu High were still in vacation mode, chatting excitedly in class about all the fun things they did over the break.

A black-haired girl sat quietly in her seat, calmly reading a book as if everything happening around her had nothing to do with her.

Before long, Hiratsuka Shizuka, who had been away for the entire break, walked into the classroom carrying her lesson plans. She was still wearing her usual white lab coat, and her complicated gaze briefly fell on Yukinoshita Yukino, who was silently reading her book.

"Alright, settle down." Hiratsuka Shizuka knocked on the blackboard. "Vacation's over, so get your heads back in the game."

"If anyone has trouble doing that, I can help."

The moment she said this, the students who had been laughing and greeting her just seconds ago immediately fell silent, sitting up straight as they watched their teacher wave her fist with a smile.

"Good. Now, let's go over what's coming up after the break. First..." She deliberately dragged out her words, pausing for effect before continuing, "We have a test on Thursday and Friday to check how much you actually studied over the break."

"Huh?!"

A wave of groans spread through the classroom as the students slumped in their seats, clearly unhappy about having a test right after break.

But no amount of complaining could change the fact that the test was only three days away.

Since this was the international class, the students quickly accepted their fate and switched to last-minute cramming mode.

"Yukinoshita, come with me."

After announcing the test schedule, Hiratsuka Shizuka called out to her before turning and leaving the classroom.

Yukinoshita Yukino calmly closed her book, got up, and followed her out.

They walked all the way to a small meeting room in the faculty office. Once seated, Hiratsuka Shizuka immediately pulled a pack of women's cigarettes from the pocket of her lab coat, placed one in her mouth, and lit it.

On the desk in front of her was an ashtray and a single document.

"So, where is that Hayashizaki guy?" She exhaled a puff of smoke, her tone full of frustration. "He made it sound so nice before, but in the end, he still took my student away."

"Hayashizaki-kun had to go on a long business trip," Yukinoshita Yukino replied.

Hiratsuka Shizuka grabbed the document and frowned as she read aloud, "Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School Exchange Program. Duration: one year. Only one spot available. And they specifically requested you. The craziest part? The principal handed this to me personally."

After complaining, Hiratsuka Shizuka's face showed a hint of concern.

"Yukinoshita, have you really thought this through?"

"Yes." The black-haired girl lowered her gaze slightly, her long, thick eyelashes trembling gently. "I have a reason why I have to go."

She lifted her head, a faint smile appearing on her calm face. "Besides, it's just an exchange program. It's not like I'm never coming back."

Hiratsuka Shizuka stared at Yukinoshita Yukino for a moment. Seeing that she wasn't wavering at all, she let out a helpless sigh.

"Since you've already made up your mind, I won't say anything more. Have your guardian come in the afternoon to sign the papers."

"Alright." The girl nodded slightly. Her composed demeanor made Hiratsuka Shizuka sigh in her heart.

She even convinced her own mother?

After Yukinoshita Yukino left, Hiratsuka Shizuka sat alone in the meeting room, smoking in frustration. Teachers passing by could occasionally hear her muttering things like, "Damn you, Hayashizaki!" or "How dare you steal my student, you absolute scumbag!"

—

That afternoon, at 3 PM, a luxury black sedan pulled up in front of the entrance of Sobu High.

A woman dressed in a kimono, her hair neatly tied up, stepped out of the car.

Yukinoshita's mother entered the meeting room.

Hiratsuka Shizuka pushed the papers and a pen toward her, speaking with a sigh.

"I didn't expect you to agree. Even though it's just for a year, the exchange school is way too mysterious. Its academic ranking is barely at the average level, and on top of that, it's a religious school."

"Don't tell me the Yukinoshita family has started believing in this kind of thing?"

There was clear disapproval in her tone.

Yukinoshita's mother gently stroked the back of her hand, her voice carrying a mix of emotions.

"Yes… At first, I never thought I would agree to Yukino's decision either."

But no matter how much she disapproved, when an expensive wooden table was sliced into pieces out of nowhere, she had no choice but to believe the outrageous things her youngest daughter had said.

After signing the papers, Yukinoshita's mother gave a small bow to Hiratsuka Shizuka.

"Thank you for looking after my daughter these past two years, Hiratsuka-sensei."

"It's nothing, really. I was just doing what a teacher should do," Hiratsuka Shizuka quickly waved her hands.

"Where is Yukino?" Yukinoshita's mother asked.

"Her? She's probably dealing with some club matters."

—

"Ugh, so dirty, so dirty! It'll take a while to clean all this up."

Yuigahama Yui pulled open the Service Club's classroom door, immediately waving her hand in front of her face as dust flew at her.

"It's been a whole summer, after all," said Hikigaya Hachiman.

After the break, the Service Club's room was covered in dust, and cobwebs had formed in the corners.

"Come help out."

A cool voice spoke from behind them. Yukinoshita Yukino had arrived with cleaning supplies.

A pink-haired girl with a bun excitedly pushed past Hikigaya Hachiman, grabbing a broom from Yukinoshita's hands. She spoke with confidence, "I might not be great at cooking, but when it comes to cleaning, I'm a pro! I help my mom with housework all the time!"

"If someone can't even handle basic chores, that'd be way more terrifying," Hikigaya Hachiman muttered.

"You help too," Yukinoshita said, handing him a broom.

"Fine… then behold the terrifying power of a man who aspires to be a househusband—"

Before he could finish, a sudden scream echoed through the room, cutting him off.

They hurried over and found Yuigahama Yui collapsed on the floor, her Sobu High School uniform skirt covered in dust.

She pointed at the corner, trembling. "T-There's a spider!"

Hikigaya Hachiman followed her gaze and sighed at the tiny spider crawling around its web. "Shouldn't the one who's scared be this little guy?"

He swept away the web and added sarcastically, "What happened? Weren't you the housework expert? You went down way too easily."

"Ughhh…" Yuigahama whimpered like a frightened animal.

Even though the spider was barely the size of a fingernail, she reacted as if she had seen some kind of monster. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed completely.

At the same time, strange, fragmented images flashed through her mind.

"Are you okay? You didn't hurt yourself, right?" Yukinoshita Yukino helped her up.

"Yeah… I'm fine." Yuigahama Yui gave an embarrassed smile. Now that she thought about it, she realized she had probably overreacted. "I must've scared you guys."

"It's fine. Let's keep cleaning," Yukinoshita said with a smile.

After more than half an hour, the three of them finally finished tidying up the Service Club room.

"Phew… I'm exhausted. But seeing the room all clean like this gives me such a strong sense of accomplishment!" Yuigahama Yui said, slumping over the desk.

"If sweeping the floor gives you that much satisfaction, then your achievements in life must be pretty simple," Hikigaya Hachiman commented.

The pink-haired girl immediately shot him a glare.

He shut his mouth at once.

"Hikki, seriously! This is exactly why you have no friends!" Yuigahama Yui huffed, then quickly added, "Except for us, of course."

Alright, alright, I get it. You're really kind. So please, stop talking already, okay?

"Yuigahama, Hikigaya, there's something I need to tell you."

After pouring tea for both of them, Yukinoshita Yukino took a seat in the client's chair and faced them.

"What is it?" Yuigahama Yui asked curiously.

"I'm going to another school as an exchange student. It'll be for a year," the black-haired girl said.

"…Huh?" The bun-haired girl froze.

Hikigaya Hachiman's eyes flickered as if he had realized something.

"Ex… exchange student? I don't get it. Why?"

Yuigahama Yui stammered. Her usual cheerful face now showed panic, like a child who had lost something precious.

"I have a reason I can't avoid." Yukinoshita Yukino shook her head and gave her a gentle smile. "So, I want to ask you, Yuigahama… While I'm away, can you take over as the president of the Service Club?"

"Huh… Me?" Yuigahama Yui looked completely lost. "Wait, me as president? No, no, I can't do that… But…"

She instinctively tried to put on her usual bright smile, but it quickly faded. Her voice dropped as well.

"If you're not here, and it's just me and Hikki in the Service Club… is there even a point in keeping it going?"

"Yuigahama."

Yukinoshita Yukino sighed softly and looked at the girl, who now sat with her head down, looking deflated.

"Even if I'm not here, our relationship won't change because of that."

"But…" Yuigahama Yui hesitated.

"If something as small as me leaving for a while is enough to break our connection, then maybe our bond was never that strong to begin with."

Yukinoshita Yukino gently placed her hand over Yuigahama's, holding it firmly as she looked into her eyes.

"Yuigahama, can I leave the Service Club in your hands for now?"

After a long silence, Yuigahama Yui finally, though reluctantly, muttered,

"…Fine. But! You have to come back soon, okay?"

"Mm, that puts me at ease."

A soft smile appeared on Yukinoshita Yukino's face. The golden glow of the setting sun bathed her figure, making that smile shine even brighter.

Hikigaya Hachiman watched her expression, and for some reason, he felt like he was seeing someone else's shadow within it.
