Chapter 299: Mark of Divinity, the First Dragon King

The mysterious pool was located in the backyard of Zeyrix's house, or more precisely, twenty meters from his home.

The pool was quite big and had red-colored water.

Despite its width, the pool was shallow.

If one sat cross-legged within it, the water would only reach their chest.

As Ren approached the pool, a strange warmth brushed against his skin, and he felt a gentle force pulling him toward the water as if he had finally found something he had long been searching for.

'Why do I feel like something is waiting for me in this pool? It feels like something important I lost and now, it's waiting to return to me.'

He stopped his footsteps and paid careful attention to the red pool.

"What's wrong?" Zeyrix asked.

Ren explained what he was feeling. "Elder, do other magical beasts feel like this too?"

"No." Zeyrix shook his head. "Why don't you enter the pool now? I'm sure you will find out about it later."

"Alright." Ren stepped into the pool without hesitation.

The red water felt warm on his skin and ripples formed around his legs as he walked to the center of the pool.

As he sat cross-legged, the spiritual energy in the pool entered his body, awakening something that lay dormant deep within him.

Veins lit up beneath his skin like glowing runes, and the dragon blood that slept for so long within him began to awaken.

Ren gritted his teeth as heat spread through his entire body.

His muscles tensed.

His breath grew ragged.

And an image of a majestic dragon emerged in his mind.

As the water shook violently like waves tossed by a stormy sea, in the sky, a massive dragon formed from spiritual energy around the pool.

Its wings stretched wide, and its body radiated a divine beauty like a celestial beast descended from the heavens.

As the majestic dragon let out a deafening roar, transformations began to occur in Ren's body.

His dark grey eyes turned gold, and his short black hair transformed into long red hair.

Previously, Ren looked like an angel, but now, he looked like a god who descended from the highest heavens.

Once his body finished transforming, another phenomenon erupted in the sky.

Before the majestic dragon, a second dragon emerged.

In the next second, the third dragon appeared.

Within seconds, the sky was filled with countless dragons.

One by one, the dragons in the firmament bowed before the majestic dragon, as if they were kneeling before their rightful king.

Zeyrix's eyes widened in shock when he saw the second phenomenon.

In that moment, he suddenly recalled something from an old book he had read seven hundred years ago, something said to be possessed by the strongest dragon king in history: the first dragon king.

Mark of Divinity!

Zeyrix's pupils quivered, and his body trembled uncontrollably.

He knew Ren was a descendant of the first dragon king, but he never expected him to awaken the Mark of Divinity because it had never reappeared since the first king's death.

'Don't tell me… the thing he said was his, the one that has been waiting for him, is the Mark of Divinity?'

He suddenly remembered Ren's previous words.

'Then... could he be the reincarnation of the first dragon king?'

He shook his head immediately.

'No, no! That's impossible!'

He knew that Divine skills and high-tier magic could do unbelievable and unimaginable things, but he had never heard of any skill or spell capable of bringing someone back to life or allowing reincarnation, so it should be impossible for Ren to be the reincarnation of the first dragon king.

'Then, why did he say that earlier?'

As countless questions popped up in Zeyrix's mind, a red mark slowly appeared on Ren's forehead.

Its curves were elegant, and it glowed with a soft red light.

Ren felt like he could command any dragon when the mark emerged on his forehead as if they were his subjects.

Once the Mark of Divinity bound itself to his soul, a surge of energy burst from his body, shaking the water and the surrounding grass.

Ren slowly opened his eyes and looked down at his body.

'I feel like I've been reborn. Not only that, but I also feel my body is a hundred times stronger than before.'

He could feel power in every muscle of his body.

'Julzreon could protect himself from my attack by covering his body with scales. Let me try it.'

He imagined dragon scales forming on his right arm, and in an instant, crimson scales emerged, wrapping around his arm like living armor.

'It seems like my body has turned into a living armor. I like this!'

A satisfied smile spread across his face.

Zeyrix approached Ren after he got out of the pool. "Young man, do you know what you have just awakened?"

"My bloodline?" Ren replied as he tilted his head.

"Not your bloodline! I'm talking about the other thing you awakened." Zeyrix deliberately avoided saying its name.

"Ah! Do you mean the Mark of Divinity?" Ren asked.

"You know its name?" Zeyrix said in surprise.

Not all dragons knew about the Mark of Divinity because it had disappeared hundreds of thousands of years ago.

It could be said he knew it by luck because he would have never known about it if he hadn't accidentally found that old book.

"When I received the mark, an ancient dragon appeared within my sea of consciousness." Ren explained. "He told me everything about it."

"An ancient dragon?" Zeyrix suddenly thought of the first dragon king.

'Don't tell me…'

The first dragon king was unimaginably powerful and had mastered countless skills and magic.

Had his lifespan been longer, he might have conquered the entire world in his era. It was a pity that his lifespan prevented him from becoming the Ruler of the world.

'That's right. The first dragon king is also an unparalleled genius like him. Just because I've never heard of any skill or magic related to reincarnation doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And maybe the dragon king created it himself.'

He was even more sure that Ren was the reincarnation of the first dragon king.

"Zeyrix greets the first dragon king." Zeyrix knelt on one knee and cupped his fists respectfully.

Ren was startled by Zeyrix's actions. "Elder, what are you doing? I'm not the first dragon king. I'm Ren Starfall."

"No! You are the first dragon king. You just haven't recovered your memories." Zeyrix believed Ren's memory loss was a consequence of defying the heavens through reincarnation.

Ren helped Zeyrix up because he was uncomfortable watching him kneel before him.

"My king, when are you going to return to the main continent?" Zeyrix asked politely.

"I'm not the first dragon king." Ren sighed again. "I do plan to go to the main continent to find my mother, but not now. I still have something to do in this continent."

"I see." Zeyrix was a little sad.

He wished Ren would return right away because he could not wait to see the dragon race respected and feared like in the past.

"Ah, right! Elder, the pool has become ordinary now," Ren explained. "When I awakened the Mark of Divinity, it absorbed all the power within it."

"It's fine, Your Majesty." Zeyrix didn't mind, because it had helped Ren awaken the Mark of Divinity.

"Elder, can you let my women enter this place?" Ren asked.

"As you wish, Your Majesty." Zeyrix replied before vanishing from his place.
