Chapter 7: I Am a True Gentleman

"Sir?" Seeing Lu Bu momentarily lost in thought, Xiao Yi Xian instinctively called out softly.

Cough. Lu Bu cleared his throat. "Xiao Yi Xian, I heard you discovered a cave. I'm very interested how about we go take a look together?" he asked with a smile.

Xiao Yi Xian's expression changed instantly, snapping out of her daze over his looks. Her gaze sharpened immediately.

"Run!" she shouted, grabbing her assistant Liffey's hand and bolting toward the door.

But Lu Bu simply chuckled. The formation beneath his feet lit up and spread outward, instantly enveloping the two women.

The moment they tried to run, their bodies froze in place. Lu Bu lightly tapped the ground with his toes, his figure flickering forward as he landed in front of them.

"Xiao Yi Xian, you can't escape," Lu Bu said with a calm smile, raising his finger as an oppressive force of soul energy radiated from him.

Xiao Yi Xian's face turned pale. In a hurried voice, she cried out, "Wait! I'll take you there, but you have to let my assistant go. She knows nothing!"

Lu Bu paused, his raised finger hovering in the air. After a moment of thought, he nodded. "Alright, I'll agree. But if you try anything, don't blame me for being rude."

His last remark was directed at Liffey, who nodded frantically, her face pale. "I won't say a word… I promise…"

Satisfied, Lu Bu placed his hand on Xiao Yi Xian's shoulder, stepped lightly, and disappeared into the night sky with her.

As Lu Bu left, the oppressive force that had immobilized Liffey vanished. She staggered, clutching her chest, and watched the direction they had gone with a mix of frustration and urgency.

"Damn it… the treasure's gone!" Gritting her teeth, she hesitated for a moment before a determined look flashed across her face. She turned and ran toward a specific location in Qingshan Town the headquarters of the infamous Wolfhead Mercenary Group.

Deep in the forest, Lu Bu carried Xiao Yi Xian as he flitted through the trees, his speed swift and effortless. Out of respect for her, he didn't wrap his arm around her waist.

However, Xiao Yi Xian gritted her teeth as she stared at Lu Bu's annoyingly handsome face. Damn it. How can someone who looks this good do something so infuriating?

"Which way next?" Lu Bu asked cheerfully, his tone light.

"T that way," Xiao Yi Xian stammered, pointing into the darkness of the forest.

"You're lying," Lu Bu said with a frown. "Your soul fluctuations gave you away it's obvious."

"Ugh!" Xiao Yi Xian bit her lip, frustrated, and glared at him. After taking a moment to properly observe her surroundings, she begrudgingly pointed in a different direction.

Satisfied, Lu Bu nodded, grabbed her shoulder again, and leaped forward. Before long, they reached the edge of a steep cliff.

"The cave is below the cliff. Happy now?" Xiao Yi Xian huffed, plopping down cross legged on the ground. She didn't care that her white dress was now stained with dirt as she sat there, glaring at Lu Bu like she was waiting for him to do the dirty work.

Lu Bu chuckled, finding her antics amusing. She clearly thought he was some sort of murderous thief who'd kill her for the treasure.

But I'm clearly so handsome. I look like such a good person… No, wait, I am a good person!

Cough. "Xiao Yi Xian, don't you want to see what's down there?" Lu Bu asked with a smile, extending a hand toward her.

Xiao Yi Xian froze, looking up at him in disbelief. "Y you're not going to kill me?"

"Why would I kill you?" Lu Bu tilted his head, genuinely curious.

Xiao Yi Xian: "…" Good question. I don't even know.

"Come on," Lu Bu urged, gesturing toward his outstretched hand.

After hesitating for a moment, Xiao Yi Xian placed her hand in his. Lu Bu easily pulled her to her feet, brushing the dust off her dress as he did so.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" Xiao Yi Xian's cheeks flushed as she slapped his hand away, her voice flustered.

"Cleaning the dirt off your clothes, of course," Lu Bu replied matter of factly, his innocent expression making it hard to accuse him of anything.

"Alright, let's get going." Lu Bu took out a rope from his storage ring and secured it. Holding the rope firmly, he turned to Xiao Yi Xian with open arms. "Hop on."

"Hop on… where?" Xiao Yi Xian asked suspiciously.

"Onto me!"

Xiao Yi Xian: "…"

"If you don't hop on, I'll come to you instead," Lu Bu teased, his grin widening.

Letting out a defeated sigh, Xiao Yi Xian reluctantly approached him.

"What's with that look?" Lu Bu muttered, frowning. "I am a true gentleman. Do you think I'd take advantage of you? Do you think I'm that kind of person?"

Xiao Yi Xian: "…" I wouldn't rule it out.

Despite her doubts, she stepped into his arms. Lu Bu wrapped his left arm around her slim waist, and his eyes gleamed briefly in satisfaction. Her waist was just as he imagined slender, soft, and perfect to hold. Without thinking, he tightened his grip.

"Mm…" Xiao Yi Xian let out a soft sound of protest, her cheeks burning red. "Stop wasting time and get moving!"

Cough. Snapping back to focus, Lu Bu pushed off the ground and began descending the cliff with the rope.

The sudden sensation of weightlessness caused Xiao Yi Xian to instinctively cling to him. But before she could relax, Lu Bu abruptly stopped mid air, causing her chest to slam into him with a soft duang.

"You…!" Xiao Yi Xian seethed, gritting her teeth.

"There's a problem. The distance is off, so we'll need to make some adjustments," Lu Bu said, his gaze fixed on a wooden beam protruding from the cliffside.

Xiao Yi Xian let out a sigh of relief. So it wasn't intentional…

"What now?" she asked anxiously. They were hanging precariously on the cliffside, with nothing but a single rope between them and the abyss below.

"Don't worry, I've got this," Lu Bu replied confidently. Adjusting his grip on the rope, he suddenly kicked off the cliffside and shot toward the cave.

Once again, the sensation of weightlessness hit Xiao Yi Xian, and she instinctively hugged Lu Bu tighter. But just as she did…

Duang!

Her chest collided with him again.

"You !" Xiao Yi Xian's voice quivered with restrained anger, but before she could say anything, the same sequence repeated.

Weightlessness. Impact. Weightlessness. Impact.

"You bastard!" Xiao Yi Xian clenched her fists, ready to punch him. But just as she raised her hand, Lu Bu released the rope entirely, kicking off the cliffside one last time. With a mid air flip, he landed gracefully on a protruding tree branch.

"We're here," Lu Bu said with a bright smile. "See? I told you I had a plan."

Xiao Yi Xian: "…" I'm too angry to speak right now.

Lu Bu turned his attention to the pitch black cave ahead. His Dou Qi wasn't strong enough to illuminate it, but with his soul perception, he could see it clearly. The cave entrance was littered with rubble and animal bones, and a large boulder blocked the passage further inside.

Flicking his storage ring, Lu Bu pulled out a luminous pearl. "Stay close," he said.

"I have my own fire starter," Xiao Yi Xian retorted irritably, pulling out a flint. She also discreetly slipped a packet of medicinal powder back into her pocket. Based on Lu Bu's strength, it was clear her powder wouldn't work on him.

Lu Bu chuckled. "Are you sure? Caves like this are favorite hiding spots for venomous snakes and centipedes. Imagine those slithering into your clothes…"

"Enough!" Xiao Yi Xian shivered, goosebumps rising on her skin. "Let's just go!"

Sticking close behind him, Xiao Yi Xian reluctantly allowed Lu Bu to pull her closer, his arm casually draped over her shoulder as if they were a couple.

Grinding her teeth, Xiao Yi Xian couldn't help but recall Lu Bu's earlier words: "I am a true gentleman. Do you think I'd take advantage of you?"

Liar! What a waste of such a handsome face!
