Chapter 86: Demons Pets III

Zephyra raised an eyebrow. "You mean contracted companions? Sure, we've got them."

"Yeah," Mygarth added with a nod. "Most nobles do."

Alex gave a small smile, folding his arms. "Good. I'd like to see them—just wondering what your familiars look like. I want to understand what each of you relies on."

Zephyra gave him a look, then shrugged. "Alright. No big deal."

She stepped forward and lifted her hand. A few sparks flickered from her fingertips as a soft electric circle formed beneath her. With a quiet hum of energy, a creature appeared beside her.

It was a large panther-like beast, sleek and elegant, its body made of rolling storm clouds. Small arcs of lightning danced across its fur, and its pale blue eyes calmly scanned the room.

"This is Vharran," Zephyra said, resting a hand on the creature's shoulder. "He's loyal, sharp, and doesn't like lies."

Vharran gave Alex a long, steady look but didn't move. He was calm and well-behaved.

Alex nodded. "Good temperament. Impressive aura."

Mygarth stepped forward next. With a single swipe of his finger, he drew a rune in the air. Light shimmered faintly—and beside him appeared a slender fox-like creature with six long, flowing tails. Its silver-white fur shimmered gently in the dim light, and its silver fire-tipped tails moved with quiet grace.

"This is Sayrion," Mygarth said. "He's sharp and quiet. Observes more than he speaks."

Sayrion bowed its head slightly, then curled up near Mygarth's feet, calm and composed.

Alex looked between the two familiars. "Both very different. One's all lightning and reaction, the other's precision and presence. Fits both of you well."

"Hmm, why don't you summon your familiar?" Mygarth asked, glancing over at Cypher.

Cypher simply shrugged. "Up until a few months ago, I was Alex's familiar. I've only recently evolved into a Greater Demon."

Mygarth froze, his eyes widening. "You're joking… right?"

"She's not," Zephyra chimed in, stepping past him. "She's telling the truth."

Mygarth looked at Cypher again, this time with more awe than disbelief. "That's… rare."

Cypher just nodded, calm as ever.

"Well then," Mygarth said slowly, a thoughtful tone in his voice, "now that you're a Greater Demon, I suppose you can form a familiar bond of your own. Do you want one?"

Cypher tilted her head slightly, clearly thinking it over.

Alex, who had been quietly observing the conversation, finally spoke. "Yeah, I think you should get one. Aren't there benefits for demons who bond with a familiar?"

Mygarth nodded. "Yes, there are," he said. "Think of it as an extension of your own power. A familiar doesn't just amplify your strength—they can also act as partners in battle, or even cover your blind spots."

Alex glanced at Cypher. "Then it's worth it. You should definitely consider it."

Cypher looked at Alex, then gave a small nod. "Alright. I will."

"Okay then, why wait?" Alex said with a grin. "Let's do it today. I want to summon one for you now."

Zephyra perked up. "Ooh, while we're at it, I think you should summon one too, Alex."

Mygarth nodded in agreement. "That would be wise, my Lord. A familiar could greatly enhance your strength."

Alex shrugged lightly, then smiled. "Alright. I'll get one too."

"Great," Mygarth said, stepping forward. "Let me draw the summoning circle."

Without hesitation, he unsheathed his demon blade and began carving a precise set of runes and glyphs into the floor.

Alex watched with a slightly pained expression as his once-pristine floor was etched apart so aggressively. The sword scraped through the beautiful polished obsidian surface with a sound that made him flinch internally.

But in the end, he said nothing—just let Mygarth finish.

Barbaric or not… it would work.

By the time Mygarth finished carving the summoning circle, Alex compared it with the pet summoning token he had acquired—the one he used to summon Spectra for Tony. According to the system, there was only a 1% difference between the token and the summoning circle Mygarth had carved; the rest was a perfect match.

"Alright, Cypher," Alex said, motioning toward the summoning circle carved into the floor. "Just step into the center, release your demonic energy and a bit of your blood. The demonic energy combined with blood will activate the summoning circle, attracting the familiar that resonates with you. It will come forward and seek the bond."

Without hesitation, Cypher stepped into the circle. She bit her thumb, letting a drop of deep black blood fall onto the center of the sigil. As soon as it hit, the entire array flared with blinding light—then pulsed outward with waves of pure shadow energy.

The ground trembled faintly, and Cypher instinctively stepped back as the space above the circle rippled and opened. From the darkness, something began to emerge.

It wasn't flashy. There were no flames or lightning bolts. Instead, a quiet stillness fell over the room as a small form appeared—no more than the size of a child.

Its entire body was composed of living blackness, like condensed shadow given shape. Where its eyes should have been were two faintly glowing white dots, and its form shifted subtly as if it were always halfway between solid and mist.

"A Shadow Dweller," Mygarth said in surprise, stepping forward slightly. "They dislike light. They only live in the shade of their master… but they're powerful. Extremely powerful. Easily ranked among the top ten rarest and most dangerous familiars in all of Hell."

Cypher knelt slowly, her crimson eyes meeting the being's soft, blank gaze.

The creature tilted its head—and then, silently, it stepped into her shadow and vanished, becoming one with her presence.

She stood and turned toward Alex. "It's perfect," she said softly.

And Alex just smiled.

After a few seconds of quiet admiration for the way Cypher's Shadow Dweller vanished into her presence, Alex stepped forward, his expression composed but focused.

"Alright," he said, exhaling slowly. "Now it's my turn."

He glanced at Mygarth. "The circle's still fresh?"

"Completely active," Mygarth replied. "Just step in and channel your demonic energy. If the Circle recognizes your presence, it will draw forth a familiar suited to your aura."
